Senator from Nevada (I'm not sure which one) expressed virtual certainty that the Ninth Circuit will reverse en banc. If the three-judge panel remanded, is it possible to move for the court to reconsider en banc?

Ugh - good question. Not sure if the remand can be appealed. I think it would depend on the particular rules for the 9th Circuit and would mostly certainly depend on the court history of this case (claims by Plaintiff that have survived, District Court opinion, etc).

BTW, that's not a good enough reason to hate Linux, since the same things can be prevented under Windows NT/2000/XP.

My wife uses NT at work, and they have it locked down in that way. She can't even change her desktop background color!

Why is it that when state-sponsored displays and endorsements of Christianity are rightfully struck down as unconstitutional, Christians invariably scream that atheists are imposing their religious beliefs on them???

You can go to church every day and pray as much as you want!!! No atheist disputes that right!!!

The big lie...fraud-hoax---

Originally the word liberal meant social conservatives who advocated growth and progress---mostly technological(knowledge being absolute/unchanging)based on law--reality...the nature of man/govt. does not change. These were the Classical liberals...founding fathers-PRINCIPLES---stable/SANE scientific reality/society---industrial progress...moral/social character-values GROWTH!

Then came the post-modern age of switch-flip-spin-DEFORMITY-cancer...Atheist secular materialists through evolution CHANGED-REMOVED the foundations(separation of state/religion)--TRUTH-GOD...made these absolutes relative and calling all the residuals---technology/science === evolution to substantiate/justify their efforts--claims...social engineering--PC--atheism...anti-God/Truth RELIGION--crusade!

Liberals/Evolution BELIEVE they are the conservatives--guardians too...

the shield between state and religion(evolution/atheism) is gone---this is chernobyl---radiation poisoning!!

Hypnotism--witchcraft ideology--politics--religion--BRAINWASHING--superstition--BIAS---EVOLUTION

ps...evolutionism is the essence of liberalism/socialism!

Oh, it's not locked down. Lazy sysadmin. He has one root password for all the machines so if he gives it to me, I have access to all the machines.

FYI (especially since a lot of folks can't get out of this thread): In her opening monologue at 3PM today, South Florida Talk Show Host Randi Rhodes ocompared an ugly couch one hates to the phrase "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance.

I thought she was pretty hot when she used to play with Ozzy.

Thought she was dead, though.

I think you're all missing the point. NOWHERE in the Constitution does it state that a person has a right to a taxpayer-funded education.

You're missing the point. Public Education is a State matter, not a Federal one.

That's why many conservatives appropriately oppose the Department of Education.

Hacksaw and FormerLurker, please check out all of CecilRhodesGhost's previous 30 or so posts. He is a card carrying member of the New World Order. He proselytizes for the "Third Way" the UN and against our nation's sovereignty. Ignore his commie arguments and respond to posts by people that want this country to go back to its Constitutional principles.

And a Republican appointed by Bush #1 dissented and the Carter appointee sided with the liberal Nixon choice for a judge.

Better yet, the public lashings should be administered by country music star Charlie Daniels.

Do you have something against patriotism and nationalism? Or perhaps you'd prefer we pledge allegiance to some NAFTA flag? Of course, this as soon as the "masses" are taught by the wise men in government it's the right thing to do.

then the government is promoting and endorsing religion and indoctrinating children in religion without regard to a parent's wishes and without the approval of nonreligious taxpayers.

Of course, it is perfectly OK for the nonreligious to impose their religious beliefs upon those of others, yes?

Considering this is not a prayer; considering this is a pledge to the flag and the republic of which the flag represents; considering that the complainent was given the opportunity to have his child opt out of the pledge - which he declined to do; given that he lost this same case in a different court in Florida, hence his move to California, specifically to bring this suit; given all these factors, I would insist that provisions have been previously made for the beliefs of those outside the religious among our society.

I would further insist that this father and by extension, the 9th Circuit, has imposed their religion upon everyone else. Not only that, he (the father) has imposed his lack of patriotism upon everyone else. Makes him just as much a terrorist as the Saudi Arabian Koran-thumpers...

"Actually, as a country, I think we have many more pressing issues that we could be spending our time on today."

If there is a God(and, I believe there is), and He has been on our side since we became 'One Nation Under God', I can't think of a single issue more pressing to our country's continued existence.

Of course, for those who believe there is no God, it's all just a matter of finding out which person/persons/government they will become slaves to.

These court decisions systematically taking God out of public life shakes and destroys the very foundation of our Constitution, our country and our freedoms. The traitors and Marxist radicals in power want us to look to THEM for our rights, benefits and very being, the more to control us.

Very well said. Right on!!

We may not be at the point of "To the barricades!" but we damn sure better start building the damn barricades.
