According to Joe Hadenuf: Official Free Republic Position Parallels GOP On Immigration. No Big Deal
6/23/02 | Joe Hadenuf

Posted on 06/23/2002 12:52:24 PM PDT by Joe Hadenuf

Last night during a conversation/debate between myself and the leader/owner of the Free Republic, Jim Robinson, a rather stunning revelation was brought forth. I asked Mr. Robinson, which Republicans were vocally backing, and supporting Tancredo in his fight for our sovereignty? After some delay, Jim answered, “I have no idea. Immigration is not a big concern of mine.”

This is from the man that runs the most well known, and respected, political conservative internet forum in the United States? And Mr. Robinson resides in California?

Below is the exchange

Conservatives, Cut Bush Slack The Chicago Sun-Times | June 22, 2002 | Thomas Roeser

To: Jim Robinson

#939: Oh, so the Republicans are fighting for our sovereignty? Besides Tancredo, which Republicans are these Jim? If you could be specific.

#1034: Which ones are not ?

#1056: You never answered my question Jim.

Since you failed to answer my question, I will go first.

Given thirty years of this open border, immigration "free for all" that has resulted in many millions entering our nation illegally, I believe there are very few Republicans, or anyone else in DC, besides Tancredo, that are visibly and vocally fighting for our national sovereignty.

Now would you care to tell me which Republicans are standing with Tancredo and voicing outrage against this titanic, never ending invasion of illegal aliens?

At first I as was stunned, angry, and felt let down. Then after some thought I wasn’t too surprised.

Looking back at all the hundreds of immigration threads where many were deleted, disappeared and sent to the cornfield, I guess I am not too surprised. However, given the gravity and danger this country faces regarding this out of control, titanic immigration issue, I am still outraged, disheartened and saddened by Mr. Robinson’s response. Thread after thread Freepers have displayed genuine outrage and honest concern regarding this issue. And the outrage and insanity regarding this issue goes far beyond the Free Republic.

It’s escalated to the point now where many of our major cities in this country, such as Chicago, have now approved the use of identification cards, issued by Mexican consulates that will give illegal aliens access to financial and public services and more, as our so-called leaders stand treasonously silent, as our sovereignty is slowly dismantled.

This massive invasion of millions of illegal aliens has changed the face of many of our once great cities, from California to Illinois, to Georgia, to Tennessee, to Texas etc etc.

They are crowding our already over crowded classrooms, voting in our elections, choking off our social services, driving down the wages, while driving up our taxes, filling our jails, standing room only in many big city emergency rooms, etc, etc, etc. I personally know of six American citizens that have become victims of illegal alien crime, from having family members slaughtered on our highways by drunk driving illegal aliens, to stabbings, robberies and common burglaries.

And just recently, another young Deputy Sheriff was shot through the face and killed in California by an illegal alien, that has again fled back to the safety of Mexico. It has now been learned that this individual has already been deported three times, each time he has returned and committed more crimes in our country, leaving American victims in his wake, and each time he fled back to the safety of Mexico.

There are many forms of terrorism, and this continued invasion of millions upon millions is one form. And it's my opinion that it’s one of the most dangerous, most threatening issues facing America today. Even today as we speak, our federal government continues to allow in almost 8000 Middle Eastern men a month on visas. It is my opinion that this legal and illegal “immigration free for all” must be, stopped, extremely limited, and reformed immediately!

Again, I am extremely saddened and distressed by Mr. Robinson's response and lack of concern regarding this issue.

I’m always amazed that some conservatives believe that there should be monolithic agreement in our ideology. The anti immigration crowd demands the same status as the tax crowd, who demand the same importance as the NRA bunch, who feel that they are more important than the 10th amendment group who take umbrage at importance of school choice, who disdain the civil liberties/national defense issues, who can’t see the importance of anti-abortion and on and on…

It’s akin to demanding that all blacks should vote Democratic ‘cause that’s the way the majority of ‘em vote. Nonsense. Conservatives have a wide variety of issues and beliefs. To demand allegiance to a template of issues is the small tent view…I belong to the big tent caucus.

We can't afford to feed the old folks otherwise, Joe. We'll have to kill them. Nicely, perhaps. In a kind way. But for the children. We can't have one retiree for every worker. That's too big a strain on families that are trying to raise children. Do we starve the children? Or starve the old? Or let in lots of immigrants to raise the worker-to-retiree ratio?

Or maybe privatize Social Security and dismantle the multigenerational Ponzi Scheme once and for all.

Then lock the borders down.

I am very grateful for all you have done to keep this site up and running and the improvements you continue to make.

But I, for one, must ask why a recent thread on amnesty/illegal aliens was pulled and the title remained with the following remark:

(Thread Pulled, JR doesn't like VDARE) We took that to mean we cannot post anything from their website.

Since then, Tancredo's Immigration Reform Caucus has put up a website for his petition, he has a list of links that includes a link to VDARE.

http://www.house.gov/tancredo/ Immigration/welcome.htm

Could you please clear this up for us?

Thanks

Your criticizm of Jim Robinson is not appreciated by this FREEPER.

I like JimRob, and this website he has created. But to say anyone is beyond criticism, is beyond foolish. JimRob will be the first to tell you that he is human, too.

I understand your position, and this was posted to point out the lack of concern from both of the beltway parties and others. This issue will grow, it's not going away and will get much worse. It's my opinion that it needs to stay out in front and bought to the attention of those that we do respect. I felt this needed to be brought out.

I have personally wrote to Jim Robinson and told him I consider him a good friend. I mean no disrespect to him personally, but I feel this issue needs to be focused on and we need to let those that we do respect, that we have grave concern regarding this issue.

Again, I am extremely saddened and distressed by Mr. Robinson's response and lack of concern regarding this issue.

This is my opinion, and I stand by it.

I believe the people of the State of California tried to do something about it, but were overturned by liberal judges.

That was the single most disgusting act of judicial activism I have ever seen. They did not interpret law; they wrote it.

Joe....

Jims post NR 25 seems to indicate that he believes that the socialists are not now in control and that their advance can be halted via the ballot box. Most of us would hope that this was reality but fear it is not. I have seen this insidious socialist cancer maintain its march forward since the thirties under FDR.

The malaise now afflicting the American people, did not start under Clinton, its birth was years ago and it grows daily. The day of the ballot box has gone.

Jim, I am with you especially on the unbelievably detrimental effect that the 17th amendment had on the country.

Maybe what FR needs nowadays is something to rally around that we all should agree on, to replace Clinton who we all agreed was someone to rally against.

Maybe FR should adopt an official position, that of setting a goal of getting the repeal of the 17th on the national consciousness by 2006 or some other date. Set it in motion, and let's get people working on ways to make it happen. Brainstorming on how to frame the arguments. How to win people over to it. How to get the issue enacted in various states.

Let's get something we can all rally for going.

I wouldn't be very saddened or distressed, Joe. Everyone's got different hot-issues. I am, for example, nearly of no opinion when it comes to abortion. But get me on gun rights and flecks of spittle appear at the corners of my mouth.

So JR doesn't care about immigration? So what? You care, and others do too, so post on the topic!

No one in this government has any stomach to reform or stop this massive invasion by illegals. It's too late to get a handle on this problem without mass deportations and a complete sealing of all the borders and a moratorium on legal immigration.

People are too afraid to be called a racist so they ignore probably the single largest problem America faces.

Joe, I too, think illegal immigration is the prime concern of us here in California. I see them taking over our California legislature, and little by little the City Council here in LA, (soon we'll have a Mexican mayor, I believe that will happen), we will have to answer to them. The Mexican gangs have taken over the streets, and we don't have enough police to control them. The gangs shoot to kill, and what will happen when there are more of them than there are of us?

State your opinion from now till the end of time.....it doesn't get credibility by critizing Jim Robinson. Your opinion ought to be able to stand alone!

People's concerns are theirs......they can state them freely here and many do!!!!

What does the fact that Jim Robinson agrees or disagrees have to do with the strength of the argument?

I am sure Mr. Robinson doesn't need me to fight his battles..........I was simply stating MY opinion!

I mean no disrespect to him personally, but I feel this issue needs to be focused.....

One thing I've learned is it's very hard to change JR's mind about almost anything. He very rarely gives an inch, but then again he's very tolerant of other's hard core attitudes even if he doesn't like where they're coming from. He practices what he preaches so I guess we have to take the good with the bad.

I've for one have had my mind changed about many things around here in 4 years. If I had to pick one fault regarding Jim, it would be his stubborness.

Then again I wouldn't want him to be easily swayed by people who's views I disagree with. I think he was a referee in a past life or something.

Jim...

Re your Nr 39....

Your solution to the ills of this country are logical and reasonable, and under our constitution should be attainable. This government that is now a "statist" government, would never allow your solution to happen.

Our "duly elected" government is now enmeshed in every facet of our daily lives, bar none. Never will they allow any diminishment of their grasp and power. Statists want to eradicate the term "individdual", and slowly but surely they are doing so.
