Are you nuts? one of the great problems in this society in my view, is the excessive longevity rates. If we got rid of any type of healthy lifestyle, ate plenty of pork and other greasy foods, as well as distributed cholesterol enhancing pilss. We as a society could save a fortune in social security and medical costs.
Without a doubdt early mortality is cheaper for society in the long run.

obesity in the United States has increased from 46% of the adult population in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES II, 1976 to 1980) to 54.9% of the adult population in NHANES III (1988 to 1994).

Without a doubdt early mortality is cheaper for society in the long run. Well, I can certainly think of a few people whose absence would likely benefit society. :~)

"You must be a fatso."That's what I think. I made a passing comment on this post and recieved a negative comment in return from this person.

"There are a lot more sedentary thin people than you think. And likewise, there are lots of active fat people."These are exceptions to the rule. And the exception proves the rule.

And this has what to do with "fast food"?

When you & the Doc come around to "educate" me, how will you make me follow it? Ahhhhh, here we go......
"I would like to suggest a different variable....eliminating fast food restaurants...or at least requiring a bold posting on each door, similiar to the one required on packs of cigarettes...."
Now, since under the new "GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES" both Tom Cruise & Michael Jordan are now overweight, which one is to report to your re-education camp first?

"Yeah. Their fingers get a real workout on the remote control while scooping Cheetos out of the bag."Damn you. You just caused me to spit my drink on the keyboard.

"As University of Virginia Professor Glen Gaesser(Gasser) points out in the forthcoming revised edition of his book, "Big Fat Lies"Ironic, isn't it?

Nutrition is taught in school already! How much more 'education' is needed? People know, but poor eating habits are often a function of laziness. Or... that enjoying food has a higher value than being slender in their estimations.

In addition, I read somewhere (in some health book - maybe by Fumento) that the standards were changed not too long ago. That could account for some of the percentage difference. However, they went back to an older standard, which many felt was more accurate. I don't know which standard is better, but when you change the way you measure things, it should be noted.

Thanks for the source. I downloaded the study and read the Executive Summary. It says exactly what I thought it says. The 54.9% figure is for obese AND overweight people, not just obese.
Even so, they base the normal weight on figures sililar to those silly insurance charts that say people are supposed to look almost like Holocaust survivors.
In any event, you were wrong.
To: blackbart.223
Thanks to LoneGreenEyeshade, I downloaded a research study about this. Reading the Executive Summary, I see that a 6'0" man weighing 221 pounds is obese. That's ridiculous.
Even so, using these definitions, fat people are in the majority now, so if they all vote as a group on these issues, look out. You'd better start treating them nice. LOL.

I am really upset that Democrat Congressman Gerold Nadler will be buying 2 seats with taxpayer money. This type of pork has to stop. I suppose they will tell us to be happy they do not charge extra fro chins? Grrrrrrrr
To: ppaul
So I'm right. Thanks for the confirmation.
You know, a fat person can lose weight and no longer be a fat person. You will always be a bigot and a moron.
There was a research study someone posted on FR a few months ago that concluded that incompetent people don't know they're incompetent. That must be why you keep going on. You just don't know it.
