The only place I've been to on the Baja is Tijuana. I wouldn't care ever to go there again. I've got some other interesting places I've been to.
This is San Miguel de Allende, a catherdral in San Miguel.
It is stunning. San Miguel has a very large population of ex-patriots. I was there in the spring. There is a type of tree there, jacaranda trees, which is covered with purple flowers. There are no leaves, so all you see is purple. It is magnificant! There is a bluff as you enter the city with an overlook, and the tress were in full bloom. It was incredible. Do you have those trees in Arizona?

First chance to check back in on the Freeperthon since late this afternoon. When last I was here, the "bar" was at 41%! Now it is at 70%! ZOWEEE - thank you fundraisers and thank you donation givers!
A thank you gift is below. These are some of the wild ponies of Shackleford Banks of Carteret County, North Carolina. They say these ponies are descended from Spanish Horses being brought to the "New World" and/or traded for and carried by Spanish and English ships.
If you go to Beaufort, NC, and take a boatride out towards the banks, or just look real hard with binoculars, you can see these ponies there today.
Read about them and the efforts to save them Over here.
And, thanks again, everybody who is helping or giving and especially, thank you Jim Robinson for the "gift" that is Free Republic!

Time for me to go...the loveable Dizzy is rubbing up against my legs, and begging for me to leave the computer, and pay attention to him...he wants double attention, to make up for getting very little cuddling time yesterday, due to the exteme heat here
And need to get up early and do some exteme housecleaning, just in case the son shows up unexpectedly...perhaps in between bbqing, and motorboating, and kayaking and smooching with the girlfriend, he will find time to visit the 'old folks' here, and say howdy...
See ya all tomorrow...

I believe every American needs to see real poverty. Not the defination most Americans think is poverty either. It is truly amazing. Our most poverty stricken people are wealthy compared to some. I've seen houses made from cardboard and cinder blocks. They take a type of hook, attach it to a rope, swing it above wires and snag electrical wires to get electricity. I've taken my daughters to Mexico on vacation, near Cancun, and it's nothing compared to what most will never see. Your son is so right, I am so grateful and lucky to have been born here. Unless you experience it, words just don't do the emotions justice.
