Even though I have not watched and do not intend to watch this video, I agree with Jacoby that the Boston Phoenix is right to make this video available, even against the wishes of the Wall Street Journal and the Pearl family.

''My name is Daniel Pearl. I'm a Jewish American from ... Encinco, California, USA. I come from, on my father's side, a family of Zionists. My father is Jewish. My mother is Jewish. I'm Jewish. My family follows Judaism. We've made numerous family visits to Israel.''

And for this - you MUST DIE!!!!!
This is a propaganda film for Muslims everywhere to be able to justify why this young man was deserving of a brutal death.
What is frightening is they actually believe he was - for these very reasons.
And, the Q'ran and Hadith say it's okay too.

The issue of the appropriateness of airing this video brings up other issues which liberal democrats must address. I question the motives of Dan Rather and CBS for publishing it... nothing more than ratings and sensationalism can account for thier decision. Because in other instances when the opportunity arose to expose the ruthless and savage nature of militant Islam, the Network has balked at portraying muslims in a negative light in an effort to remain politically correct, and thereby have whitewashed the threat that the muslim religion poses to wesern democracies.

CBS does not show images of the carnage that palistinian homicide bombers cause on a daily basis, nor do they provide images of the torture and murder of alleged palistinian collaborators with Israel. The hypocracy of the mass liberal media is almost as desturbing as the content of the Daniel Pearl video. These radical islamic terrorists see an ally in the liberal press. The terrorists know that thier propaganda will be reported in a favorable light by liberal media outlets.

If Pearl were not a presstitute, the only question that any media outlet would have is "How much of the tape do we show?" There is criticism by the media only because there are indignities of coverage to which a media widow is never subjected. A media idiot can stick a mike in the face of any non-media widow and, in a deep wet voice, ask, "And, how does that make you feel?" This is the kind of invasion of privacy that the media will almost never force on a presstitute's widow. And that is the basis of the WSJ's opposition. If it were a Jewish pizza delivery guy, you can bet your butt the tape would be "newsworthy" and "thought provoking" and "part of the responsibility of a free media to bring to the public."

The "Russian Death video" was equally appalling. The Chechins/Muslims lost the support of millions by bragging about it and displaying it proudly on Muslim websites. You cannot negotiate with an enemy like this. The only rule of law they understand/respect is rule .308.

The video is a "must see" for everyone of the Palestinian and Islamic "supporters". I wish they'd only shown the actual killing and the blood and air spewing out to emphasize that "HE WAS MURDERED !!!!"

Every lib that thinks that we don't have to fight wars should look at that video and see that liberals may "HATE" the military but the military is what keeps butchers like these at bay. Repeat this video and show the bodies falling and the results on the ground of people jumping and falling out of the WTC. Shove those photos and videos in the face of the "Peaceniks" and ask them "Now what do you do? Do we sit and sing 'kumbaya' or drop a daisy cutter on the lot of them." I vote for the daisy cutter.

In a note on the Boston Phoenix Web site, the paper's publisher calls the Pearl video ''the single most gruesome, horrible, despicable, and horrifying thing I've ever seen.'' Is it, though?

Is it more horrible than the video of the American soldier's body being dragged through Somalia?

Read this article, How The Left Undermined America's Security.

It is my hope that the horrific images of the Daniel Pearl video will pour steel into the spines of those who would placate or negotiate with evil of this kind.

I watched the video. The family and friends don't have to watch it. But Americans who want to, should watch it.

It shows Satanic evil: An innocent, beautiful young man is alive, then he is dead. That is the work of Satan, like all murders.

Islamofascism is evil. Islamism is evil. Islam is evil.

I have not watched the video and I do not intend to watch it.

I disagree with Jacoby (a rare event) on the choice of the Boston Phoenix, a lowlife "alternative" weekly staffed by vanilla leftwingers, to publish a photo of Pearl's head and a link to the video. It was highly unethical. The editor of the Phoenix justified the act by declaring, among other things, that "the general public goes to films that are far more gory." I'm quite sure the Pearl family makes a sharp distinction between the gruesome real life murder of their beloved son, brother and husband and silly, fictional Hollywood tripe like Scream. Too bad the editor at the Boston Phoenix was too dimwitted --- and too greedy for a media coup --- to do the same.

More despicable than the footage of dead American soldiers dragged by their necks through the streets of Mogadishu?

It is off-topic but I just watched Black Hawk Down last night and it was riveting. I do recommend it.

Jeff Jacoby's e-mail address is jacoby@globe.com

... and he has more balls and guts than any politician in America today. Mecca, Saudi Arabia still stands as a monument to the monsters who butchered Daniel Pearl. Saudi Princes, practitioners of wahabbism -- the same brand of islam practiced by Pearl's executioners, cavort at their home away from home, in Midland Texas.

Nuke Mecca, Saudi Arabia now and end the moslem madness once and for all.

Just watched it and I am literally shaking..., not from fear mind you, but disgust, anger and rage. These filthy animals need to be treated like the blood thirsty monsters they are. Islam is from the pit of hell.

I wonder if our President has viewed this tape, yet? If he had I would think he wouldn't continue saying it's a 'peaceful religion'.Okay ,it's a perverted form of islam, but I still didn't hear the 'Imams' around the world and Islamic leaders in the USA denounce this action. This also bothers me.
