Hi Ladtx, what a great photo!!!! Thank you so much for serving our country.

Thanks a lot for the recognition. Sorry I wasn't here yesterday for this thread. But I spent all day on Tuesday at the hospital with my son who was having surgery on his hand to repair a baseball injury he sustained playing for East Texas Baptist U. earlier this year. All of you do a great job in recognizing the service of all of us former and current service personnel and believe me it greatly appreciated. Thanks All.

Sorry I didn't get back to y'all last night -- My system crashed here and I couldn't get back onto the Internet. I'll see everyone later this evening.

I wrote before about the kid's cookbook. No one has responded. I think it is a great idea to let our kids be a part of FR. I would do all the work. A

I'm interested, but I couldn't tell if you were kidding. You want my kids to come up with ideas for a name? I'll ask my kids. Are you done compiling recipes already?

Merci for your kind reply. Oui, several recipes are in. All one has to do is think like a kid. The name of the cookbook should be from a kid, don't you think?

OK, give me the run down. It's recipes from FReepers and you want a kid to name it? I'm just confused that's all. I need to get my facts straight before I tell my kids what to think up.

There are only two kinds of boats. Submarines and Targets

LOL! As a chinook driver I heard it a little differently.

There are only two kinds of aircraft. Chinooks and slingloads.

My goal was to get into Cranes, that's why I went the Chinook route, but before I could wrangle a transition they were taken out of the active Army inventory.
Looked at your profile. 1952 Vincent - one of my favorite songs.

Then this might bring back some old memories:

Looked at your profile. 1952 Vincent - one of my favorite songs.

It's said to now be the most-requested song on PBS stations. I have not noticed such enthusiusm for it when I pick at it with my banjo, but I make no claim for myself as a competent vocalist, though I'm not cruel: I will stop if they pay me.

I have so much admiration for the people who man the subs. I even read most of the thread tonight and it was very interesting. I went in a sub in Mobile once and being claustophobic, it was hard for me to go through it. I think every person who ever went down in one should have the highest medal available.

Oh no. Such accolades would be coming from those outside their community. The attaboys that really count are from those who've been there, even for a little taste of it. Often they reflect the graveyard humour found in that business where the practicioners have to drill and practice for every possible emergency and failure, and are thereby particularly sensitive to the many faults their chosen profession offers.

Sometimes the most sincere tributes are those from their fellow submariners in other services, ones that once were or someday might be enemies. But they too know.
