SAN DIEGO (AP) -- An American Airlines pilot faces misdemeanor charges for toting a loaded gun in his carry-on baggage while trying to board a plane at the San Diego airport.
William F. Blaylock told authorities he uses the gun for hunting and personal protection and had forgotten to remove it from his bag before heading to Lindbergh Field on April 23.
The weapon was detected during airport security screening.
On Friday, prosecutors filed two misdemeanor charges against Blaylock who, if convicted, faces up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000. He has been free on bond since April 24 and will be arraigned next week.
The airline wouldn't comment.
"Boy, you in a heapa trouble!"
I recommend this.
Also works well against two legged varmints: To quote Lynrd Skynrd: I'm tellin' you son, well it ain't no fun, starin straight down a .44

From the right Mercuria, Alan Chapman, feinswinesucksass, HangFire and I think dalereed. I don't know if the young lady is an active FReeper or not. JimRob in the foreground.
He should have pointed out that he's the pilot and he could just crash the plane if he wanted to.
That has already been op-checked by a US Airways captain. He landed in a small room with steel bars. Common sense does not prevail on this issue. Funny, that we are worried about someone taking control of an aircraft, yet the the very people we pay to control aircraft, are the ones being frisked for implements designed to take control.
WTFO?Anyone listening? BTW, Maneta is a moron, as well as the numbnuts that appointed that creep.

Just like an egotistical musician, you have quit learning. Too bad for you.
Sorry for my smart a** remark. I misread your sarcasm. (I think it was sarcasm)
"Boy, you in a heapa trouble!"
The name does sound familiar. And, as you can see, I stay in a heapa . . . . !
Hope to see ya in a couple weeks.
Bottom line for me:
I want the pilots to be able to have a readily available sidearm on their person while in the cockpit.
If I were a commercial pilot there's no way I would put up with a leftist political agenda that denied me the right to have at hand the only tool with which might (effectively) resist being hijacked.
Not after 9-11. No way, No how.
As the communists who read our propaganda ration are so fond of saying: "This changes everything."
And I wouldn't tolerate, for a New York second, the shabby treatment that has been reported to be now being directed toward flight crews by that motley rabble of low-rent village idiots laughingly referred to as 'screeners'.
I'd ferry Cessna 172's to paint shops before I put up with any of the dangerous and unacceptable lunacy that these strangely docile commercial pilots are submitting to.
Pilots I know ARE for arming. Maybe because they already are armed and have concealed carry permits.
Guess the pilots I know grew up with guns and feel comfortable with them, shooting snakes and coyotes, etc. Your pilots must be city boys.
Well, guess what? The city boys don't have to carry; it's a voluntary program.
Of course.
"...Oh -- and if none of the new-style low-bidder pilots were quota hires and pilot-costumed computer-gamers..."
Yeah. There are multiple layers of problems here.
I'm going to 'Just Say No' to commercial aviation, for myself (and anyone else that I can influence) until they get it right.
No argument here.
I can do without flying (standing on my head) until they get it right. And there are plenty of others who are slowly but surely becoming as dogmatic about it as I am. With each passing day more and more people are growing increasingly frustrated with insane levels of delay, inconvenience and outrageous mistreatment.
They are beginning to weigh their options, from 'driving' to my personal favorite, simply 'not going'.
And the hard-core road warriors who've convinced themselves that they must fly, no matter what, simply aren't a large enough number to keep the airlines in business, at least at today's ticket price structure.
It isn't complicated...
The airlines have a limited window of opportunity here. If they don't get their minds right, and begin to flex their muscle accordingly, they will suffer losses that will require decades to recoup.
If the american people are worried that a pilot may fly the plane where he wants to, then instead of prohibiting pilots from guns, we should requier a new device installed in planes that automatically set off poison gas in the cockpit, and then automatically turns on the automatic pilot if any plane veers from its course.
