I am proud to fight those that try and tarnish this president.I join with you in this fight and it is a fight we are going to WIN!
To: PhiKapMom
The reason to create this department is not to create the size of government, but to increase its focus and effectiveness Good speech, but "create the size of govt" is kinda an odd phrasing isn't it?

It's only unsettling to think that this has been under the radar while the lib/dem congresscritters go about pointing fingers at everyone but the one group that ignored it - THEM!
To: codebreaker
I cannot believe that Condit is on that Committee either! Talk about a security risk! I saw Sum of All Fears yesterday with my daughter and that part about C-SPAN cracked me up!
To: ClancyJ
'I am proud to fight those who would tarnish this President' Absolutlely correct, the guy is like a younger less folksy Reagan-everytime you underestimate him he pulls somthing out of the bag to confound the Rats.
To: PhiKapMom
Thanks for the posting, PKM. Now, will you be organizing the "CALL YOUR CONGRESSCRITTER" thread tomorrow?
To: PhiKapMom
I was laughing at the Morgan Freeman characters line until I realized that Gary Condit works in that room!!
Oh well, how much damage could he do in another 4 months...The film was actually pretty informative, I believe it is true that the President needs authorization from another offcial on the succession list to drop a nuke. (according to the rules of the 'football')
What if the President is separated from Senior Staff like in the movie and is alive ..what happens then?

I think it was Ridge's job from the first to figure out whether this needed to be done, and if so, how to do it. Which branches of which agencies to combine, what the functions were, how to organize the whole thing, which people are good, who needs to go. You know how nobody has been able to figure out what Ridge has been doing? Well, this is it. I'll bet my bottom dollar that there's a big fat book containing the written plan, and the research that went into it.
I'm delighted with this plan because it makes complete sense. When you have new problems, you need new solutions.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie! And I agree it was very informative. If I remember right you need two of the people on the list to authorize it and in case of not being able to find the President or he is incapacitated his authorization automatically goes to the VP and then down the line of succession.

I was sitting here thinking that when I heard his speech that we need a thread up tomorrow to get everyone to contact their Congressman and Senators. Sounds like a plan to me! Guess this will be the real start of the election for Fall 2002! Will work something up tonight and post in the morning!
To: Not gonna take it anymore
I thought that too -- he called Congress bluff! Now we will see what they have to say!
To: marylina
I saw that about Gephardt -- makes me nervous too! Although he seems to not always be showing up with daschle anymore too! Wonder why?

And the NSA advisor can authorize the strike (according to the first sequence) No wonder Condi is so smart..
To: codebreaker
That's right! And what used to scare me with Sandy Berger as clinton's NSA. Not sure he could have found his way out of a paper bag!
To: codebreaker
Who?
NSA?
No Such Agency?
;-)

Hi PhiKapMom!
We agree.
Hey! I have a happy story for you! Totally off this subject. I have to tell somebody. So I'll tell you.
The 18 year old daughter of a friend of mine was in a horrible car accident 14 days ago. Someone else driving a truck was passing another person on a hill at night and hit her head on. She was driving a small car. If you saw the photos of the car after the accident you would turn your head. They removed her spleen and her liver was damaged along with broken bones and other injuries. The most serious being a head injury.
It was likely she was going to die or have some permanent brain damage. She has been in a coma all this time. Part of it drug induced.
She woke up today! And appears to be fine. She knows who she is and is responding and is "herself".
Sorry to interject this here. Sorry for the rant. But my friend just called me and gave me the news. And we are all so happy. The power of prayer!
The best part of this story is that her 9 month old son will know his mom!
She is still in ICU but they are planning on taking her out. Some people expected the worse. The worse did not happen.....
To: PhiKapMom
Thank you!.
To: isthisnickcool
That is great news! I am glad you shared it -- stories with happy endings like that make my day! Will add my prayers for her speedy recovery!
