In what can be called a massive restructuring and combining of government agencies, President Bush addressed the country this evening and outlined his proposal for elevating the Department of Homeland Security to a cabinet position. In this new cabinet position, the following agencies will be consolidated into one mission, homeland security: the Coast Guard, the Border Patrol, the Customs Service, Immigration officials, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In addition to sharing information among all of these different agencies, the Department of Homeland Defense will be charged with four tasks:
1. To control our borders and prevent terrorists and explosives from entering our country.
2. To work with state and local authorities to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.
3. To bring together our best scientists to develop technologies that detect biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, and to discover the drugs and treatments to best protect our citizens.
4. To review intelligence and law enforcement information from all agencies of government, and produce a single daily picture of threats against our homeland. Analysts will be responsible for imagining the worst, and planning to counter it.
The President urged Americans to call their representatives and encourage them to support the plan. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

I don't think you can see the rug from this angle, it's more in the center of the room.

I bet with fewer details, George can make the Senators FEEL like they have a say in all of this...all while knowing that George orchestrated it! They will "own" it more, if they feel they created it. BRILLIANT. I love you George!

Yes, that's confusing. But thanks for the information. Now, after I admire the pictures of the administration I so much love, my eyes will go to the floor - LOL.

Summer and I do *not* get along. :o/You should move to Ohio.
It's about 50 degrees right now, and I was cold when I went out with a jacket on! :o\
Glad to hear you're doing well, homeschool. You've been through the ringer, haven't you?

I've been there in the summer...and you're right, CS. yuck! The first 10 years of my life were spent in Northern Illinois by the lake...no air conditioning back in the dark ages you know...and mosquitos...arghghg the mosquitos!

Ohio is beautiful. But summers are humid. I'd like to summer in Alaska and winter in Sacramento. lol
Thanks, ohio. I have a ways to go yet but *am* doing better. And I love being able to exercise again. :o)

Hi there Clara!
Do you suppose the Dims will ever figure out just how brilliant our President is?
He's got them outfoxed at every turn, and they haven't got a clue as to how to beat him! I love it!!!

I read today your part of the state is having its first heat wave of the season. How hot did it get and more importantly will the electricity hold out?
