More U.S. bashing from overseas on our foriegn policy and how it relates to the World Cup Tourney.
I think Andrew Sullivan somewhat agrees.
Let's hope Korera aren't their Watertloo.
Football is THEE sport :-)
It's our world! Hell, we're paying for it."let's count all the nations on the face of the earth that really count. The number seems to be one."
The fact is, we built a better nation, and in our spare time we built better sports too.

Yet, after my friend called and woke me up at 2-0, I leaped from my chair after the third goal.Personally I'll root for the US if we're playing freaking tiddlywinks. But it's still a yawner of a sport.
USA USA USA
We took one part soccer, one part rugby, and one part warfare and made the best sport in the world. >:)

The reason they have an offsides rule is that, without one, an opposing player could just stand around the opponent's goal, wait for his team to gain possession, get a long pass from a teammate and score easily. Scoring a goal would not require any effort.
I admit it gets really frustrating when there is a breakaway starting and all of a sudden: tweeeet! Offsides. Ends a lot of exciting plays. It would work better in soccer if modeled after the hockey offsides: the ball/puck must cross a line prior to any opposing player.
Maybe you're right -- because Americans know it is Europe's #1 sport, while we stink at it, we won't possibly get ourselves emotionally involved. That plus, with all due respect, most American men are not about to sit through a couple of hours worth of men prancing around in the afore mentioned outfits during 0-0 slugfest matches, but...to each his own.
It'd be sooo much more a spectator sport AND yet that much more challenging for Jeter trying to take that extra base, or Emmett Smith running a sweep with Gucci bag tucking under his arm...
Alot of that is preconceived notions though. After 18 games, there have been zero, that is right ZERO scoreless games. The French are scoreless at halftime against Uruguay so far though. I hate the french. That is another beauty of soccer... I got to cheer the French, and the Saudi's losing. England and Argentina fans get to relive the Faulkland war, etc...
Watching a bunch of guys in shorts running around kicking a ball will never equal sitting in front of my TV with a cold beer and a pizza watching my Dawgs kick the crap out of the Squeelers.Woof woof to that.
I've recently noticed something. There's a lot of other countries where soccer doesn't seem to be a big deal. Russia, the other former Soviet republics, Canada, Japan, China, India, Australia....pretty influential places I'd say.

You can stay with Pong. I'll stay with this World Cup fan ...
