"Then we are forced to believe that numerous American scientists are either totally stupid or totally marxist."

The third alternative is that the only ones who get funded, or quoted in the major media outlets, are the ones who parrot the global warming line

"I don't believe either of these assertions, but instead believe that there may be honest disagreements over interpretation of data."

It is more a question of using data from unreliable earth based temperature readings, which only measure local temperature changes, vs satelite data, which measures the whole globe. There is also the bigger issue of a theory bassed more on computer modeling, than on actual data. My background was in Civil Engineering, which includes environemntal science, and I have looked closely at both sides of the argument and concluded that the global warming theory has no merit.

The flaming is totally out of control ON BOTH SIDES, IMHO.

I think it's a function of familiarity with other posters. Personally, I've been critical of the administration as of late. Because I'm presenting these views more often than supporting Bush (again, as of late), I get slammed as a Bush-basher. What I generally hear is, "When have you ever supported Bush?"

That said, I'm no victim. I'll come back with, "When have you ever not supported the man? Is there no limit to what you'll take?" It makes me just as guilty as anyone else.

This isn't productive. Old arguments simply spill over into new threads - and both sides are guilty. I think my solution is simply to avoid posting on these topics. I'll make up my mind and keep my opinion to myself. Anything else, and my posts (along with others') become a lightning rod and clutter up the forum. It isn't worth it to me.

I think people should stick to debating the merits of the person's point, not impugning or trying to divine their motivation. It's hard to do, sometimes, whichever side of an issue one is on, but it's worth keeping in mind.

Have you noticed how many of these issues--except for the military budget--we implemented pre-9/11? I wonder if this move to the Left on Global Warming is a compromise to placate the Europeans in exchange for help on the War on Terrorism.
I think you may be right on this.

The saddest part of all is that the ones who find fault with every single thing that Bush does -- you know, the "less than 9 percenters" -- seem SO DAMN HAPPY when they find anything they can criticize him for. Almost joyful.

Maybe you left the sarcasm button off?

I thought I got Bush the nomination.

Methinks Rush is making himself look bad.

Now you know how some of us feel about Bush and his liberal leaning policies. I am loving this, lol. The bots are angry at a recovering bot. roflol

Liberal? Rush is liberal? Legitimate and necessary criticism of Bush makes one a liberal? Then call me Bernie Sanders! Rush is the one who is the true Conservative, by sticking to his guns. He isn't the one enacting the entire democrat agenda because he mistakenly thinks it will win votes.

Do you think he wants to do this? Do you think he likes the emails (and ridiculous accusations of brain damage from his cochlear implants) from braindead Bushbots? Do you think he wants to hear kool-aid drinkers on FR say that they won't listen to his show anymore?

There are too many people who will not even question Bush. What makes him above and beyond questioning? I thought liberalism was wrong, no matter who does it. What will change your minds? If he becomes Pro-choice, how will you Christians (God bless you, GW!) spin it? If some nut shoots 200 kids at Disney World, and Bush backtracks and bans semi-automatics what will you 2nd Amendment supporters do?(FMCDH, brother!)

"...did anyone else hear the woman caller foaming at the mouth a minute ago?"

Yep...

"She was practically hysterical with rage. She absolutely equates anyone who criticizes the President's policies as "trashing" him. Caller: "I will never forgive them! I will never forget the 8 years of Clinton! The whining is just getting ridiculous..."

Just because Clinton/Gore were the Worst Administration in American History is no excuse for saying Dubyuh ain't as bad so I'll never forgive those who stand on principle against his apparent willingness to write off the Conservative Agenda.

"Nobody knows what is in Bush's head! Nobody knows what he will do tomorrow, or the next day!"

That's what scares me so, I thought I knew Dubyuh as having some real Conservative principles he would not betray...now, I'm not so sure!!

"There is nothing George W. Bush could do that would make me criticize him, EVER!"

That sounds like a DemonRAT response to Clinton, not an intelligent GOP mindset.

"Rush just said the last caller was an example of how W has cornered the Soccer Mom crowd. NOTHING he does can make them turn against him."

So, Dubyuh's written off the Thinking Conservative Vote in his effort to secure the Mindless Moderate Vote?! I don't think it's gone quite that far, but I do think Dubyuh's listening to some Milquetoast Moderate twits within his Administration...and if we on the Right allow him to do it, we can expect to be ignored for the remainder of his 6 1/2 years in office.

"besides the war on terrorism(which is getting a bit big for its britches to me)..."

Big for it's britches?

Is that like a dog and pony show or more like smoke and mirrors?

Well, that begs the question: who is the Unprincipled Right? Would that be the rest of us -- the ones who don't find fault with everything Bush does.

I think everyone on both sides of this needs to ask a question:

Am I in this to just make noise, or am I in this for the long haul and to make POSITIVE changes in the political climate and in terms of legislation?

I'm going to be honest, I'm in it for the long term and to make changes. I'm willing to pick my spots, and fight where we can win. I think others need to make this choice, too. I'm willing to make deals and get what I can now.

If people want to call this selling out and cowardice, I have no control over that.

But we have to decide "at what price principle", and decide what we are willing to stomach. To me, the price does NOT mean handing the White House back to the Democrats, which have become more like the mafia than a political party. We all have to make a decision. It's gut-check time.

Of course the President can do wrong in my eyes and there is a limit to my loyalty to a mere man.

But, in my judgment, Bush continues to warrant my support at this time. That does not make me James Carville or Paul Begala.

Surely you do not equate "stickin'" with a man such as Clinton, even after he committed crimes and obstructed justice, with continuing to support a president who, in your view, did not come out strongly enough against global warming.

If Dubya has oral sex with an intern and then lies about it, I'll be sure to criticize him to high heaven. I'd even vote to impeach him and remove him from office.

Oh, and if I disagree with Dubya on policy issues that I believe are of great importance, I'll be sure to criticize him on those points as well.

Other than that, I'm just like James Carville and Paul Begala. Watch for me on Crossfire next.

"I wonder if this move to the Left on Global Warming is a compromise to placate the Europeans in exchange for help on the War on Terrorism."

"I think you may be right on this."

Deja vu all over again...IMHO, this was one of the Reagan Administration's worst failings, as they allowed out-of-control domestic spending by the DemonRATS in exchange for allowing America to win the Cold War against the Evil Empire. I believe the War On Terrorism is a just war America MUST win...but we can't cede American Domestic policy to the Left in the process!! We just can't!!!

The War On Terrorism is justified on its own merits...attempts to blackmail America into accepting an Anti-American Leftist Agenda in exchange for protecting American citizens from Anti-American Religious Zealots is a Devil's Bargain, IMHO!!
