Just the headline
Bravo! I'm sure glad someone else is saying this! I for one find it very difficult to understand how so many Christians can justify some of his actions as president. I'm trying to say this in as kind of a way as possible: I think he is confusing the words "Christian" with "naive" and "gullible."
I am also not too confident of his spirituality. When he's having trouble making an important decision, and he looks at his "WWJD" wristband...he most likely doesn't know--and just makes it up...
You are kidding, right? Please tell me you're kidding!
I'm not sure of the sum total of your beliefs, having only read in part what you've posted but I think you have brought out an important point: there is a growing divide in conservatism.
There seems to be a "win-at-all-costs" type of conservatism that also tends to be lukewarm on moral issues (primarily when dealing with abortion) that is in the ascendancy. It seems that there can be NO clarity in politics with this crowd; everything is cloak-and-dagger strategery. Up means down and Left means Right with this group and if you can't get it, well then you're just a damned fool and a Libertarian (or maybe they're the same).
The logic of this group is seductive, so seductive that I had to bring myself back to the basics. I've begun reading some of the foundational writings of this country and the commentary from those who thought deeply about the "American experiment" (notably De Toqueville right now) and it's renewed my confidence in a truly Republican form of government.
It wasn't perfect, but there WAS a time when men simply spoke and argued as they believed; there was no desire to "take issues" away from people, you fought them word for word: in print, in person, anywhere, anyway speaking the convictions that you had. You spoke boldly with the belief that the truth carries with it it's own persuasive power and that most people are eventually moved by the power of it when passionately delivered. And if they weren't moved, you could at least go down knowing you did as you believed. Now, it seems, it's all about winning no matter WHAT the cost (apparently).
I'm not for a MINUTE suggesting that politics is simplicity. Of course there is complexity. To paraphrase the apostle, much of the Federalist Papers, for example, contain writing "in which are some things hard to understand", but that complexity should never result in a compromise of principle. Why in the world is asking for men like this to lead the "conservative" moment such a hateful crime? When did asking for strong, clear, uncompromising leadership become anathema?
That is because there are more than 2 sides. Libertarians are no more monolithic in thought than are Republicans. There are many perspectives within each Party.
Gee, real mature. Ouch!
Gosh, if Rush is losing so many, how come an article about him has over 1000 posts? LOL
GO RUSH!
Thats true.
Bush is slowley losing his base. Maybe he's traiding us in for the Democrat vote. It appears he is.
Their only audience is here, and I guess now on the Rush show and the Savage show. I don't know as I don't listen to Rush, Savage nor Sean.
Reality shows that the professional Bush haters are as irrelevant to politics and political outcome as the looney tunes still locked up in state mental institutions. These looney tuners are outside for now. They are like gang leaders, all talk and tough until reality strikes. Reality will strike hard in November this year. When we ignore them and vote out the rats in the senate running in Bush country. TBL has posted that is what all of this about.
The NY Slimes has been controlling the so called news for at least 5 decades. They come out with some bravo sierra oped like this. Then their screaming heads and the smiling talking heads use the POS oped like it is divine wisdom and real world. What is different know is that Rush, Hannity and Savage are now the screaming heads and smiling talking heads spreading the manure for the Times.
People who believe in the NY Slimes never voted for GW nor will they. The something new in the news is the new pimps for the NY Slimes are Rush/Hannity and Savage and possibly Drudge are now Pimping the Slimes/Wash. Compost or maybe the LA Slimes left wing Bravo Sierra.
yes, I did. I really thought he was a true conservative. I really did. When he said less spending and smaller government, I believed him.
I doubt you have any proof for this statistic.
I know exactly where Lee and Waters are coming from and what their agenda is. And as far as I know they are faithful to their constituents and to what they hold as their truth. Bush? Bush on the otherhand is a centrist focused on the global community inspite of his constiuency. So focused in fact that he protects the world's leading terrorist (Arafat) to offer land for peace for terrorists, all the while signing the Patriot Act...screwing us and our Constitution.
At least Waters and Lee care about their constituents and everyone else can go to hell as far as they are concerned. So yea, I'll take Waters or Lee over someone who will deceive and damn me behind my back like Bush did with CFR and the Patriot Act.
TRUE Bravo Sierra, smeared on thick and deep! Just how I like it when I need a good, hearty laugh!
It's a tactic to try to discredit those who do not follow "the faith." It's Clintonian.
I want Rush to continue what he is doing. It builds you guys up and drives away the real audiences. Your side couldn't even make a million listeners a day, and you know that reality. Rush, Savage and Hannity will be fighting over sharing the Bush Hater audience which will be great for us and not great for the advertisers. The advertisers know where the real audience bucks are are, and it ain't with the Bush haters of Axis of Whining Weasels. Even Rush ain't rich enough when the advertisers start saying no, and that will be coming if not happening.
A TRUE Conservative when we need one the most!!!
Read the headline. It's about Rush. How did you get here? Hello? Reality check?
i meant "checkmate" in response to your reply above--as in you won the point :)
Well, I'm not sure about "the rest of you", but I know I didn't make my decision about Bush based on one article from the NYT, much less jump in bed with them, as you seem insistent on believing. I don't know if it makes it easier to dismiss an entire group by believing they all have horns and mate with monkeys or whatever drivel is thrown out, but that seems to be a consistent practice on FR (from this relative newcomer's perspective).
I have not supported Bush for President since the idea first hit the media. It had nothing to DO with some recent article. I have judged him off what he has said and does; there is no preconceived prejudice because he is who he is. It's not that I don't believe he's telling the truth; my frustration is with what he actually says! I didn't know the first thing about the man until he began running in the primaries.
I'm not a Libertarian and never will be. I'm a Christian, conservative, Air Force captain who happens to be black (hence my alias). I'm simply someone who has been and will always be, unhappy with needless compromise. I have a tremendous admiration for men of principle and passion (ala Bibbi Netanyahu).
If that makes me some kind of outcast on this website, I welcome the label.
