Washington Dispatch ^ | Monday, June 3, 2002 | Shane Cory

Posted on 06/03/2002 7:38:29 AM PDT by kristinn

The Washington Dispatch has learned, that at approximately 6 p.m. PDT on Sunday, an office of the Immigration and Naturalization Service in Tacoma, Washington was burglarized.

An inventory of missing items was made available and included the following:

An I.N.S. Admissions Stamp used in validating passports, normally permits 90 day access.

A Parolee Stamp which allows a stateless person (refugees, etc.) to enter and apply for resident alien status within one year.

D-1 and D-2 stamps which allow a ship's crewman entry for business or pleasure purposes.

An assortment of miscellaneous I.N.S. forms.

Most importantly, an I-551 stamp was reported missing. This stamp is used to create a resident alien card which permits the cardholder to become a permanent lawful resident of the United Staes.

In addition to the stamps and forms, a .40 caliber Berretta and two full magazines were also reported missing.

The Washington Dispatch is following the story and will be reporting additional details as they become available.

you know, i can't believe this...is the entire government incompetent?

I think you know the answer to your own question.

And I'll just bet whoever broke in was not one of the South of the Border type people, who want to let Mexicans in to this country. Wasn't the millenium bombing stopped by an alert guard in Washington state? Sounds like there's a serious problem in the NW with middle-eastern types getting across from Canada.

Is anyone paying attention in DC?

Thanks for posting this Kristinn. Maybe if there are enough of these "incidents" relating to illegals....(am I being judgemental here?), then more people will wake up and take the problem seriously and resolve to do something about it. This one, I'm afraid, is going to fall completely on the people to deal with though. It seems that neither political party has a taste for doing what needs to be done. The Rats see illegal votes and the Republicans see cheap labor and the people who, when informed, are largely anti-illegal-immigration are stuck with the consequences. It is spinning out of control and the long range effects will devastating, but our so-called leaders seem to be very short-sighted, opting instead for the promotion of their immediate politcal agenda.

Arkansas Hog Wild FReepers bump.

"I'm not sure if someone with a stolen INS stamp could let in more terrorists than the INS does already on its own?"

Good point. Hhmmm....reverse crime?? Trying to PREVENT them from authorizing any more of them??? < /sarcasm >

And since the government is filled with Americans (as is private enterprise, the military, and homes), what does that say about all of us?

So now even profiling won't work. We need to close the borders all together and leave them that way.

Well, I went to the link, and the story is there. They seem like a conservative online news page. Lot's of column links to conservative analyst pages.

Checked AP, Rueters breaking news pages. Nothing about this there. Here's hoping the story is false, becuase if it's true, it's very scary. Also, if it's true, where is the rest of the press???? Sleeping on the job, no doubt.

Ok, where is that thread that was to contain all incidents that were suspicious? We do need to record these things around the U.S. that are suspicious to tie some together if needed.

I can't help but believe this equipment is to be used by terrorists to short cut going through our immigration services at all. This would make any changes to INS worthless.

It also leads credence to the fact that they probably had people inside the INS to slip the terrorists through. With coming changes to the department - those people might have been incapacitated. Therefore - they just get the necessary forms and stamps and do their own. The fact that they knew where to find the stuff also speaks to inside info.

"what does that say about all of us?"

Point taken, but we are now living with a government that is progressively criminalizing it's citizenry while at the same time writing themselves a pass on every violation of the Constitution where it gets in their way. I don't have the answers. Well, maybe I have an idea or two, but without the force of huge numbers of people it wouldn't work anyway. We have become conditioned to cower before their demands, no matter how irrational or even illegal.

I think an active citizenry COULD contribute a great deal to the ferreting out of illegals and a great many would be happy to do so but what is the point as long as we are dealing with spineless bureaucrats who refuse to enforce the laws?

Most of the INS stamps could be created by a 10 year-old using an office supply do-it-yourself kit. There's nothing at all elaborate about them, just plain old red-ink text.

That's what I was thinking. If someone knows what the stamp is supposed to look like, creating a duplicate isn't difficult at all. It certainly isn't as hard as counterfeiting currency, something which is done all the time.

Still, the only reason for stealing them is for issuing false documents, which means we're fixin' to get a bunch of visitors who don't want us to know that they're here.

True, but GWB has now been in office 16 months. These screw-ups are becoming his responsibility.

I had a former boss who always blamed problems on the former boss. A problem arose, she blamed him; I told her she was going to have find a new scapegoat soon--that former boss wasn't even around when the project of the new problem was started. It was now her problem only.

It is rapidly becoming GWB's problem only. He should have cleaned house on January 2002; he didn't; he should now. It is his watch.

" where is the rest of the press???? Sleeping on the job"

More like "selective seeing." If it weren't for FR, imagine how ignorant we would all be of many significant issues and events that slide in under the radar.

BTW....thanks Jim. I don't know what we'd do without you and John and FR. Keep up the good work!

All visits, immigration etc. need to be stopped as of immediately and these stamps, seals etc. all need to be redesigned and replaced system wide. Period. No mitigating circumstances, loopholes etc. Anything less is insanity.

Interesting because not too far from this office, just a few days ago, three illegal Mexicans were found stabbed behind a casino on the reservation (muckleshoot). I'm still trying to figure that one out too.
