Report: Chandra's Family Believes Condit Did It

The Chandra Levy murder remains in Wednesday's headlines, mainly because the "whodunit" has a political link.

According to The Hill , a newspaper covering the Capitol, the Levy family considers Rep. Gary Condit -- a California Democrat -- a suspect in Chandra's murder.

Chandra's family mourned her death on Tuesday, just hours after the D.C. medical examiner ruled that the 24-year-old woman had been murdered. Based on the skeletal remains found in a Washington park, however, the medical examiner could not say exactly how she was killed.

According to The Hill , Chandra's family is now redoubling their efforts to link Chandra's death to Condit, who lost the Democratic primary in March - and therefore, will lose his seat in Congress in January.

Condit is "in seclusion," according to his aides.

A Levy family source told The Hill , "We believe that in her final days on this earth that he [Condit] found out that other people knew about the affair, and we believe that he was trying to break off the relationship."

According to the police investigation, Condit's wife Carolyn was in Washington when Chandra disappeared.

I hope so. Of course, given the shape of the FBI today, I believe that Efrem Zimbalist Jr. is appalled.

Throwing the watch box that contained a watch (designer, and numbered) given to him by yet another girlfriend and that he must have given to Shandra, was the most incriminating thing he got caught doing. There were reports that Chandra was seen wearing it. Was Chandra wearing it the day she died? Couldn't Chandra's good friend remember? Was she wearing it and did it fall off in the tussle, and he couldn't find it? It wasn't among her things in her apartment. But her cell phone was there. The one Condit would not allow her to carry when she was with him.

The Bush administration was doing its best to butter Condit up at the time. Condit was at the president's table at Bush's 100-days lunch in the Rose Garden on 4/30. A few days after May 1, Bush singled Condit out for praise at a press opportunity at the White House.

My old theory was that it was enemies of Condit who did CL in. But, I don't know exactly who his enemies were to do such a dastardly deed.

JUST FOUND THIS WHILE LOOKING FOR THINGS ON THE BRACELET

... ABC 7 has learned a few new details about the investigation. Chandra's body was found under a foot of underbrush that could be a grave. Although there was a massive search, her body was in the park since last summer. Her ring and bracelet were not found, her keys were not found.

Isn't it true that hit and run muggers seldom "Bury" their victems...... Usually done by someone who cares!

Yeah, Walsh pretty much destroyed his own credibility
with this case. He has been bending over backwards to try to
prove this murder was the random act of a serial
killer while conveniently overlooking all of Condit's VERY
suspicious actions.

Another person who has become somewhat famous after the killing of their child is Polly Claus's father.
I saw him on TV the other day and he said he believe's Walsh's theory.
It would be a strange coincedence under the circumstances to have had this be a random killing.
By the way what ever became of the rag sheet (Star, Inquirer?) information that
said John Walsh was posing in B rated movies or some such thing?

Isn't it true that hit and run muggers seldom "Bury" their victems.

The media uses crazy terms: "A foot of underbrush that could be a grave."
It was more likely a foot of leaves fell on top of the body.
Question. If it is true that the scouts or whoever came through
there a month ago cleaning up, isn't there the possibility
one of them found the ring, etc. and pocketed them?

I remember seeing the headlines about John Walsh in the Enquirer, Star, et al. I don't know whatever happened about that. But it was then when I knew he was in the same "club" as his "brother" Bill Clinton. Then...when he came out & found some mugger to be the killer of Chandra---how transparent is that??? John Walsh isn't a murderer, but he sure doesn't want to point the finger at a fellow-adulterer.

"Isn't it true that hit and run muggers seldom "Bury" their victems...... Usually done by someone who cares!"

That belief tends to be true; it is very likely that Levy's body was moved from another location. When investigators processed the crime scene, I assume that they took the leaves, dirt, and any other pollen or plants, that was under the body and around it. Crime scene investigators, through forensic Palynology and Entomology, could perhaps tell how long the body was actually in the Rock River woods, if it was actually moved, and how long Levy has been deceased. Unfortunately, given the state of Levy's decay and the body's exposure to the elements, it will be hard to tell how Levy died. It is also doubtful that any DNA remained on Levy's clothes or the body itself, given the length of time that Levy's body was exposed. Unfortunately, her case just does not look good so far, from what we are hearing from both the media and DC police.

I would also recommend that the DC police obtain experts from the Body Farm in Tennesse, if they haven't already.

I heard Mrs Levy say on either Fox or MSNBC that the FIRST TIME she called condit & ask him if he had talked to Chandra or knew where she was, he told her he would give $10,000 for a reward. I heard her say this early in the first few weeks or a month after she was missing.

I don't know when condit actually CAME UP with the money but I heard Mrs. Levy say he TOLD her he would give $10,000 before the Levys had any idea that she was really missing. When the Levys hadn't heard from Chandra in about 5 days she called condit & he made this promise. I am sure I am not the only on that heard Mrs Levy say this.

Am I the only one who noticed that?

No, you're not. I have seen it too in Walsh. He practically bends himself into a pretzel to keep the mud off Condit.

Walsh's options are growing smaller now that Chandra Levy's remains have been found in a remote area of the park and her family has come out and stated their belief that Condit is involved.

Walsh has provided a great service over the years, but his blind spot re: Condit diminishes his effectiveness in my view.

My understanding is that the scouts just cleaned up along the immediate area of the trail....... similar to the police cadets?

I think I remember reading that the subject of the Condit-Cheney meeting was the administration's energy plan.

Do we know how long after she was missing he offered the reward? Someone on here pointed out, perhaps correct, that this is not necessarily suspicious. It depends upon whether he offered it very soon after or after a period of time. If it was a period of time it is more likely to be innocent and we should not make any accusations without support. If, however, it was a very short time after, it raises some questions that need to be answered, though I am backing off of my statement that made it look like something that shows his guilt, since I think that is now too much of a stretch.

We each heard a different story. I heard Mrs. Levy say she was very surprized by condits offer of a reward because they didn't think it was that serious at that time & they had not reported her missing yet.
