Bless you, sir. Your father and myself had a couple of "run-ins" in the past, but it was always gentlemanly in nature (that's what makes this site work).
He'd never take it personally, and would always ping me to threads he thought I might be interested in.
Though I'm not what one would consider a spiritual man, I know your pop grew up where freedom was observed by one on the outside looking in. He came to America - but only now is he truly free.

Condolences, and God bless...

I have a feeling the apple did not fall from the tree. Wear his name proudly. Your Dad was one in a million.

Pete, Jr. that should be "fall FAR from the tree" in my previous post. I'm glad you joined FR today. We welcome you to our happy band of brothers and sisters in the fight for freedom.

This news has brought me to tears. I knew of his illness, but the last time I saw him he looked so good, that I never expected this news. Now that I realize that the good Lord had need of his stalwart heart, I understand. But it is still dificult to accept.
Your Dad was like a gentle giant when I Freeped long side him. He usually was quietly taking pictures, but joined in heartily when the protests became more robust. I could say more, but I see that others have covered his charming humor, and his love in expressing his freedom here.
I hope your memories sustain you and your family during this difficult time. His soul will be remembered in my prayers each night.

I lost my Dad a couple of years back...just months after losing my Mom. It's tough...I know.
All you can do is lean on the Lord...when we are weak, He is strong.
It doesn't hurt to have some friends who have been down the road you are on themselves...give me a shout if you need someone to talk to.
Without a doubt there are many many others here who will reach out a hand to anyone who is an honest, thinking , decent person.
Welcome...but I'm sorry you had to arrive here under such circumstances.
Regards, prayers, and heartfelt condolences to you and your entire family,
EV

Your father spoke with the voice of authority and the spirit of a warrior. He will be missed. I hope the words of all these people here bring you some comfort. May your heart be healed of grief and your memories be of only the good, the happy times.

Just learned the sad news of your Dad's passing. He was an inspiration to us all.
With prayers that his soul will rest in peace and that the love of God will surround and comfort you and your family.

Many of us that never had the pleasure of meeting him in person will also miss him.I enjoyed reading his post. May God bless your family during this difficult time.

There was a thread about your Dad not starting his American citizenship until Clinton was out of the White House. Did he start the process? I know it usually takes 5 years and was curious as to how far along he got.
I hope you will take an active roll in this Free Republic and continue in your fathers footsteps. He was a great person and I will miss him.

May the good Lord bless and keep him and comfort his family and friends...he will be missed!
