May 26, 2002 -- Investigators believe Chandra Levy was lured to her death by someone she knew or slain by a predator who methodically stalked her, police sources said yesterday.
Evidence collected at the spot where her remains were found points away from her being killed in a random attack while she was jogging, the sources said.

Oh, for some reason I thought that was one thing they DID tell us right off the bat. Maybe it was just the experts/talking heads on FOX that seemed sure there'd be no way to tell if she was pregnant or not with what they had to work with. Are you sure about that?
That was the question I had. If Levy was looking up the park on the internet for directions, in order to meet Condit, then how did the meeting get arranged? They went over the phone records (both parties) and even a call at a pay phone would have been logged on her incoming record. Of course someone could have hand-delivered a message.
Girl youre good...incredible what freepers are able to uncover.
Have a question..what was condit wearing in the morning and then in the afternoon..? He would have need to change his clothes after a rendevouz in the park.
Amazing how Condit looks like such a nice guy with that smile. Lord knows what is going on in that perverted head.
Chandra makes a fatal mistake: believing the lies. She becomes obsessed with her fantasy of becoming his wife, having his children. He realizes this and decides the time has come to end it with her.
Shortly before May 1, he beaks it gently to Chandra by now hes a seasoned breaker-upper. But he underestimates Chandra's reaction. She is way too invested in her fantasy and cannot accept losing what she believes to be a passionate love affair. She becomes hysterical. She is devastates and desperate. She makes wild threats, among which is the threat to expose his kinky and/or homosexual private life to the media. He doesn't care a whit about hurting his wife, but he DOES care about damaging himself and his career. He seethes in silence.
He spends a couple days thinking, realizing that his career and financial future will certainly be destroyed should Chandra actually carry through with her threats, and concludes that there is only one solution Chandra must be permanently silenced.
He hatches a plan to do the job himself and tell no one, and to make it look as though she was attacked while jogging in the park. But to get her into the park, he must regain her trust. He calls, tells her hes come to his senses, and realizes he cant live without her. Etc. etc. To celebrate this realization, they will go off with her to France together a couple weeks alone, just the two of them, as soon as congress adjourns for the summer. Shes ecstatic. She now has big news to tell her aunt Linda.
Chandra is almost ecstatic but for one detail: wifey has come to town for the luncheon. She knows he will not be sleep with his wife (because he said so), but just the same it makes her very anxious just knowing theres another woman in his apartment with him.
He has told her hed call her sometime on May 1 and let her know when and where they can secretly meet. The wait is agonizing; she leaves message and after message. Finally, he calls. He has a couple free hours. They cant go to his apartment for obvious reasons, but hell pick her up and take her to Klingle Mansion. Theyll grab some ice cream on the way. Hell wear one of his many disguises, and shell dress like a jogger so as not to attract attention in the park. Once again, shes high on love.
She decides to take a blanket along she assumes therell be some activity on the ground. When she begins get into the car, he says she may not take the blanket, and she obediently runs back to her apartment, opens the door, and tosses it in.
Once in the park, shes let out of the car at some location in the park, and he parks the car in another location. They walk separately and meet at the designated location Klingle Mansion. He suggests a roll in the grass and she agrees with anything he suggests including to let him tie her up. They walk until they find an out-of-the-way area for privacy one of the steps on the slope is perfect. After shes tied up, he knocks her unconscious with a rock. He then does whatever is necessary to make sure shes dead, covers her body with leaves and brush, and calmly walks back to where he parked. He drives home, takes a shower, and gets to his next appointment in a timely manner.
Nobody tells because nobody knows. He often goes missing for an hour or two during the day, so his staff are not suspicious.
The cops are supposed to find the body and conclude that she was attacked while jogging, but they are too inept. Thus the perfect plan goes awry.
Condit doesn't have the cajones-- he had someone else do it, then he got rid of whatever he had.
Apparently they need soft tissue from the pelvic area or samples of blood to tell if she was pregnant although DNA is retrievable. (according to the Doc they had on Foxnews)
Disclosures ... can complicate efforts to nail down details. Fox News ... anonymous sources.. "pieces of common laundry rope" were found with Levy remains ... which is a different scenerio than the Post account of "knotted stretch leggings."
Washington police say they want to talk to the man (convicted of two assaults) now in a North Carolina prison, but have not characterized it as a "hot lead."
People just don't realize how long Gary and Chandra were lovers (they meet when she was in high school), the doctor, the FBI guy were all Gary, or how he controlled every aspect of her life, school and career.
Oh, they know who did it. Now why they're afraid of a lame-duck Congressman from Modesto, California who has a penchant for screwing around with gay leather-clad biker types is beyond me.
They know where he is Mon - Fri, and where his Congressional office is.
What's the hold-up?
