Prayer request
Posted on 05/25/2002 5:01:06 AM PDT by Wyatt's Torch
My sister-in-law (wife's sister) was diagnosed with a brain tumor early this morning after having a seizure and vomiting blood. She had no other prior symptoms. They are going to do an MRI this morning to get further informaiton. To make it worse, today is her daughters 13th birthday.
Please keep them in your prayers.
Thanks.

Thank you both for an update. My prayers have always been with you MrConfettiMan from the very begining. I am so glad to hear from you. All my prayers and love to you and your family.
Wyatt's Torch, I will continue to keep your sister in law and her family in my prayers. The Lord hears our prayers and heals us. Your sister in law has begun a long journey. But not to fear as the Lord has her by the hand and is walking with her all the way.

Well, the surgery is over and it was a success...we think. The docyors were inside for only about an hour and a half. Partially because she was experiencing severe swelling. Partially because a lot of the tumor was surrounding the motor strip. They were able to get 60% of it. The preliminary pathology is that it is a glioma - astrocytoma between a stage 2 and stage 3. They have sent it off to Johns Hopkins and hope to get the pathology mid-week. The surgeon is going to have them consult with both a radiologist and an oncologist depending on the results. They expect to treat the remaining 40% with one or the other.
Anne is awake and lucid and not experiencing any paralysis although the doctors say she may experience temporary paralysis because of residual swelling. She is in very good spirits and is very appreciative for all your thoughts and prayers.
Thank you so very much for keeping her in your thoughts and please continue to pray as we await the results of the pathology report. God bless you all.
Regards, Bryan

Great news, Bryan. I imagine they sent it to Johns Hopkins for review by Dr. Peter Berger. My information is that by all accounts Dr. Berger is the foremost authority in the world on determining brain tumor pathology. Regarding the amount removed and the grading and the possibility of some temporary paralysis, just try and take it one step at a time and try not to worry too much. Remember, worry is only anxiety about things that may never, ever happen. Say hi to Anne for me and let her know she's in my prayers. Joe (MCM)

MCM:
Anne was thrilled to get the information from your website and the other resources that you listed. I also printed out several of the "Survivor Stories" from Virtual Trials. That seem to really set her mind in a positive light. Excellent advice about the percentage. My wife took the number hard. We all expected a higher number but with zero basis for why. I'll be sure and ask who the pathologist at Hopkins is. Thanks again for your help and lists of information. They have been invaluable.

Bryan

Remember, worry is only anxiety about things that may never, ever happenWow, that really struck home with me. I'm going to write that one down in my journal.
