Prayer request
Posted on 05/25/2002 5:01:06 AM PDT by Wyatt's Torch
My sister-in-law (wife's sister) was diagnosed with a brain tumor early this morning after having a seizure and vomiting blood. She had no other prior symptoms. They are going to do an MRI this morning to get further informaiton. To make it worse, today is her daughters 13th birthday.
Please keep them in your prayers.
Thanks.

The Holy Spirit leads me unto Christ, and where else would I go?
What need have I but to awake in Him? My prayers are going out to Anne and Erin.

My latest MRI was last Monday, nine months post-diagnosis/surgery. Thankfully, it was another good report (no sign of progression from residual tumor). WT, thank you for the update and the awesome news about the surgeon being available. Freepers will be praying through surgery tomorrow...for the surgical team, as well.
MrConfettiMan, prayer bump for your continued health and for your generous help for a Freep neighbor in need. (^:

Prayers for your family! Please have them check here: www.virtualtrials.com. EVERYTHING about brain tumors can be found here. Very ofter the "local" md's are not up on the latest treatments. Don't give up hope. I've still got my Arthur seven years after the diagnosis, when it was said the bt would get him within a couple years. NEVER give up.

Oligo? Unfortunately, no. (Prognosis is better for an oligo[dendroglioma].) Mine is an astro[cytoma].

Thank you all so much for your continued thoughts and prayers. Anne and her husband met with the surgeon and had a long consult. Thanks to Mr. Confetti Man for the questions listed on his website as there were many that they had not thought of. The surgery is planned for 8 a.m. EST tomorrow morning. They said they would expect it to last between 3 and 6 hours. The surgeon feels that the only major risk of the procedure is that the tumor is near the motor stem and she could possibly experience some partial paralysis on her left side. They expect to receive the pathology report from Johns Hopkins by Friday.
Anne is in exceptional spirits and keeps saying, "Except for the whole tumor thing, I'm in great health." Her kids came to visit this morning and they did a great job explaining everything that was going to happen. Anne joked with Erin that if she had known, she wouldn't have paid $45 to get her hair cut on Thursday.
Tonight I took the kids (Erin and her 7 year old younger brother Kyle) to see Star Wars Episode II. It seemed to be a good diversion.
We have also received several other anecdotes from members of the medical community that if they were going to have this surgery, this doctor is the one they would want to be doing it. Thanks be to God for keeping him in town.
Thanks again so much for the prayers and responses. May God bless you all.

Will pray extra hard tomorrow. Particularly during the AM. Take car of yourself. Don't you get rundown; they'll need you.

My prayers going out for your sister-in-law. How frightening to think she has this with no prior symptoms.

Thanks for the updates. I have been thinking and praying for Anne and family and it seems that there is reason for optimism. I will continue to keep Anne and family in my thoughts and prayers in the next few days and especially tomorrow morning.
