A head of war seizes the residence of the governor of Khost
Friday May 24, 2002 - 6h39 GMT
ISLAMABAD, May 24 (AFP) - a head of war of the east of Afghanistan ended up putting his threats at execution, in spite of an ultimatum of the government and several attempts at mediation and seized the residence of the governor of the province of Khost, brings back Afghan Islamic Press.
According to this agency based in Pakistan, the men of Padsha Khan seized this residence Friday at dawn, without blow to férir.
The governor named by the temporary administration of president Hamid Karzaï, Mohammad Hakeem Taniwal, evacuated the places, reports the agency.
"Karzaï is making fun of the pachtounes (tribe of the east and the Afghan south to which the president belongs). We want his resignation and we do not accept its nominations for the province "declared Padsha Khan, whose remarks are reported by the AIP.
Khan itself had been appointed governor of this province by Hamid Karzaï, but had never been able to take its station, the members of will choura (assembled) local y being itself opposite.
The province of Khost did not cease undergoing crises of violence, which made several tens of deaths, since the departure of the talibans.
The disorders are also current in the province close to Paktia.
"the bad policies of Karzaï in the provinces of the east caused the death of tens of people with Paktia. Karzaï is responsible for these murders. I am ready to defy it in any court to know which is responsible for the blood bath "added Padsha Khan.
It hoped that the forces of the coalition, present in the area, will not mix with the Afghan interior businesses.
Hamid Karzaï had not excluded to call upon the American troops to crush inclinations of Padsha Khan.
"I am member of the conference of Bonn (the inter-Afghan agreements signed in December) and I am sure that the American forces will not interfere" added the head of war.
According to Mr. Khan, pachtounes have be maltreated in process of organization of Loya Jirga (large assembly which will meet in June to choose the next government), and received "less seats than they do not deserve any".
It was declared favorable to a role of leader for former king Zaher Shah, recently sunken of exile and which must inaugurate Loya Jirga.
Then we will hit the self destruct button.
That should take care of him, or er ah it worked in the movies... KHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!!!
I suppose it depends on how many of those predator drones with the missles the CIA has left.
I still think it would be easier just to take out Mecca and Medina and be done with it. These little SOBs are getting SOooooooo tiresome.
This warlord's feelings sure are sensitive.

HEADLINE: Rebel warlord takes over governor's house in Khost province: report
DATELINE: ISLAMABAD, May 24
BODY:
An Afghan warlord has captured the governor's house in the troubled eastern province of Khost after failing to become governor of neighbouring Paktia province, the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP) reported Friday.
Forces loyal to warlord Padsha Khan took the official residence without a fight early this week, ousting Mohammad Hakeem Taniwal, a nominee of Afghan interim administration leader Hamid Karzai, the Pakistan-based news agency said. "Karzai is playing foul with Pashtuns. We want him to resign and we do not accept his nominations for the province," AIP quoted Khan as saying in a telephone interview from the governor's residence.
Khan was initially appointed as governor of neighbouring Paktia province by Karzai but he failed to take office after members of a local council of elders refused to accept him.
Bloody clashes last month between Khan's forces and supporters of the new governor there, Taj Mohammad Wardak, left more than 100 people killed and wounded.
Khan denied he was responsible for the bloodshed.
"Karzai's wrong policies in eastern provinces have led to the killing of dozens of people in Paktia. Karzai is responsible for these murders. I am ready to face Karzai in any court to know who is responsible for the bloodshed."
Khan said hoped the US and coalition forces engaged fighting the Taliban and al-Qaeda terror network would not intervene against him as they should keep clear of "our internal problems."
Khan said Pashtuns had been victimised in the run-up to the Loya Jirga, or grand assembly, which is to choose a new government for Afghanistan next month, by being given fewer seats that they deserved.
He said he supported former king Zahir Shah to take up the leadership role in the country, AIP reported.
Interesting name .... Khan, Afghan warlord. Any relation to Genghis? Kublai?
Genghis Khan's tomb location is still a mystery to this day. In the years 1229-1235 after his death, his eldest son, Ogodei, was elected next Khan. He invaded and conquered the Southern Song Empire. In 1241-1248, Genghis' son Guyak, was elected next Khan. In the years 1251-1258, Genghis Khan's grandson, Mongke, was the next elected Khan. He conquered the Muslims. In 1259-1264, Mongke died in the first Mongol defeat, which was against Japan. 1267, Kublai, Genghis' grandson was elected Khan. In the two following years, (1268, 1269), Kublai built a new Chinese capitol, Daidu. In the time period 1274-1281, Kublai Khan conquered Japan, then lost it back. In that same time period, Kublai died of old age. In the sad year of 1368, the great Empire of Genghis Khan, came to an end.
