I'm about as civil as they come.
I do however have little tolerance for certain posters trying to discredit the research work done
by so many FReepers for so long.
It took me months to digest all the data and I still have to read it again and again.
My main problem is with certain FReepers who just read this thread
and formed their conclusions on what the media and prosecution said.
Again I ask, why if this case is so certain against Ted, why has no trial date been set.
That's the key question, INMHO.

This man needs a fair trial. Howeer, I still can't make any sense of one thing. Two professional, masked hit men would not have stabbed Maher and let him escape. They would have killed him in short order.

Howeer = However. I've been following this story on and off for a while. I very much want to believe that Mr. Maher is completely innocent. It doesn't seem possible that a former Special Forces guy, husband and father would pull a stunt like this.

Professional hit men don't use steak knives and pocket knives though. They also don't wound. They kill. If Mr. Maher was a medic then he certainly knew how to stab himself without causing lethal injury.

As flawed as the U.S. system of justice is, it is certainly far better than what passes for justice in Monaco. With all the evidence surpression that has already taken place, it is probably not possible for Mr. Maher to get a fair trial at this point.

The case is not so certain against this man, in regards to the charge of Arson. They obviously have a case against him for setting the fire and causing a dangerous situation.

That is Monaco's problem....and even though they have laws and punishments for negligent homicide or manslaughter, in my opinion, the officials in Monaco do not feel that convicting him of this is adequate for the two reasons, revenge and appearances/responsibilities. The judges obviously have personal conflicts of interest, and there is money (from benefit of Safra's death and from tourism/other ultra-rich residents) involved here.

This explains alot of the missing documents and disconnects in the evidence that have been avaialble to us.

The disconnect on this board is that people are claiming the original story about the killers, and not that Ted had caused an 'accident'. The court tv article is even saying that Heidi Maher has is not denying Ted's confession. This is why I asked Mrs. Maher what I asked, because I do not have to depend on Court Tv for this information. We have her here in this forum.

It appears Ted has committed a crime. Ted needs due process. He has been denied that.

This is what appears to be at odds in this forum. The free Ted threads then do him a disservice by not recognizing this, and it makes readers question the motives of the posts and the website.

Exactly correct!
So Monaco needs to give him a FAIR trial, with all the evidence OR set him free.
It doesn't take 2 1/2 years to set a trial date, which they still have not done.
What is Monaco afraid of, the truth?

I should probably not comment also but, I will weighing my words. Ted is the kindest , strongest person I know. He is the oldest of five. My four brothers , my husband and myself have served a total of 36 years for this nations defense. I have seen lazy Journalism ,lies and insults throughout this whole nightmare.Our hopes go up and down daily.Emotional rollercoaster.... Who was Ted's best man @ his wedding? Me , his sister. Why? For one we are very close and for another reason , why insult two brothers by asking one? I miss him dearly as do the rest of the family.Ted says what he is told to say..... Monaco is NOT the US. It is Oh so different. We must play the game. At this point, I couldn't care less if anyone calls my brother a Murderer.I know that he is not.As long as he gets out of prison.Then the truth will come out. Most of you may know that an attempt to dicredit Ted Maher
and his family members (who are fellow FReepers) has been made.
Both Mrs Maher and Ted's sister, MiMibru, have come onto this thread.
As always FReepers do have the right to their own opinions.
I myself do not believe the phony liberal PR campaign run by the media,
especially the Time Magazine article (with sources from the NY Times) that was linked on this thread.
The number one question I still have is why no trial date set in 2 1/2 years

I take no position pro or con ( I will read all of it), but, the term you reference is strictly a legal term for the courtroom. If it were true, a person would not be incarcrated when a charge is made. The police assume it's true, therefore, they jail you, especially if more than one person accuses you which means, as far as the police are concerned, you are guilty until proven innocent.
