PAPER: Rock Creek Park Predator Interviewed by Police Investigating Levy Death Thu May 23 2002 12:52:01 ET
D.C. Metropolitan Police Department officials investigating the death of Washington intern Chandra Levy have interviewed a man serving a 10-year prison sentence for attacking two women in Rock Creek Park last year, ROLL CALL DAILY is planning to report on Thursday.

D.C. Metro Police investigators have "talked to" Ingmar Guandeque, who was arrested in July 2001 after attacking two females (one in May and one in July) who were jogging along the Broad Branch trail in Rock Creek Park. Levy's decomposed body was found Wednesday along the Broad Branch trail in a heavily wooded area.
A second official close to the Levy investigation said that while Guandeque was interviewed after Levy's disappearance last year, investigators are now taking a closer look at him since the intern's body was discovered.
"Clearly there are some coincidences and links -- just because of the proximity of where he [committed his crimes]," said a source close to the investigation.
ROLL CALL's Amy Keller reports: Guandeque, who lived on the 1400 block of Somerset Place Northwest, was arrested last summer and sentenced in February 2002 to two concurrent terms of 10 years' imprisonment for a pair of assaults of female joggers in the Broad Branch section of the park.
The first attack occurred in mid-May 2001, at 6:30 p.m., about two weeks after Levy disappeared. In that case, Guandeque came upon an unnamed female jogger, attacking her from behind while brandishing a knife.
According to a press relea
Maybe the police should be looking for someone from the RIAA. Perhaps Chandra had copied music from a CD, or had --gasp-- mp3s!!!!
Then one could expect to see knife markings on the bones if Chandra were stabbed to death. If her throat has been slit, one would expect a lot of blood. Actually, either way, there should be blood on her clothing and I thought Ramsey said that there was NO BLOOD on the clothing.
I'm sorry. I have a hard time believing this body was just laying around near a jogging path for an entire year, particularly when the police allegedly made a thorough search of the park over several days last summer.
Like Vince Foster, I think the body was placed there after the deed was done, possibly kept in the mystery closet at Condit's apartment, or hidden in an abandoned building until it was deemed safe to appear.
While Condit is worthy of presumption of innocence and due process, it isn't normal to have the innocent act so guilty if they are truly unaware of what happened. It's the Patsy Ramsey syndrome - those who act like they're guilty usually are.
I don't know of the guy did it or not, but it certainly seems there are similarities. I am afraid the length of time the body laid there has removed any possibility of having physical evidence to convict anyone.
Nonsense. He bothers to put the body in a shallow grave then goes on to unsuccessfully attack two more women in the same place to draw attention to it. Right?
Probably the same way Vince Foster committed suicide, Chandra knew too much and became a liability to some politician who felt they were above the law. That seems to be the way she committed suicide, she learned too much.
I don't think this guy is the perp. But, in a possible answer to your question, maybe he heard someone nearby, got scared, and fled.
As an aside. Supposedly she had a knapsack that was recovered. Why would she take a knapsack? Lunch? Picnic? Maybe there are items from the knapsack that could help. More than one eating utensil perhaps? As far as I know, the police haven't said what if anything was in the knapsack.
Off topic: I'm noticing FR starting to load slower and slower today. Anybody else? Don't think it's my machine......other sites are okay.
Yup. And she worked at the Bureau of Prisons while the famous Clinton pardons were being processed, too.
And it still doesn't account for why: 1) the dogs traced her scent out of her apartment and to the corner--i.e., she got into a car; and 2) where are her keys?
Power cord has a kink in it. I'll go straighten it out.
Dr. James Fixx, the guru of the jogging craze, died at age 42 - while jogging!
