"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive from treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and he carries his banners openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears no traitor; he speaks in the accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation; he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared"

~ CICERO (106-43 B.C.), Roman Statesman

What a handsome group of Americans! (Except for that nasty looking one holding the standup of President Bush!) Thankyou faithful Freepers for upholding our side.

Way to go, FResno FReepers!

Sorry to hear about the stolen cardboard cut-out. The guy was apparently into "collecting" them for whatever reason.

BTW, I'm jealous of you all there hanging out at this FReep in shorts! :-) I'm writing this post from a suburb of Chicago where we expect to hit a record LOW temperature (in the mid 30-degree range) for this time of May tonight. While I was mowing our 1-acre yard this afternoon with the push-lawn-mower, my breath was coming out as steam!

Great freep report. And you had some intrigue to boot. As my mother says, "You can't lose what's yours." Since my mother is always right, it will be interesting to see how your "President Bush" comes back to you.

Everyone looks so happy in the pictures. God bless you Fresno freepers!

"A Bush flying off in the hand is worth at least two birds?!"

He wouldn't DARE do that with --

Beep of FReep around!! Such individuals would be quickly assimilated. And forced to eat gakh and drink blood wine with a bunch of mean Klingons! And Cynthia McKinney. (I wonder if they'll notice any difference?!) (Shame on Beep! Of course they will! The Klingons will make more sense!)

If you find the twit who ran off with Bush, you let me at 'em too!! Maybe you need a stand-up cut-out of Captain America as well?! "Ooh baby; stand back and watch my cybernetic implants light up and shoot off fireworks!"

That will be all for now. I must regenerate! "Whew!"

I LOVE that GWB, "Respect for War Protestors? No Way" street corner sign.

As I swill hot coffee this AM and glance out my window at the steadily falling SNOW, i find it reassuring to know that SOMEWHERE, SOMBODY, can wear shorts without freezing to death <G>

BUMP for the president, for patriotism and our troops!!

Someone STOLE the cardboard cutout of President Bush? Well, maybe it was an oblique compliment? I sure hope so. I know you all will remember the guy's face and be on the lookout for him...if nothing else than not to let him on your corner anymore.

Unfortunatly, I guess this is what we get for being to polite and not taking peoples photos before asking. Too bad you just can't trust people any more. I only hope George gets a good home!

Beat me to the punch! Doh! Too many interruptions!

He said something like he was in a position where he didn't want his face to show
(red lights should have gone off right there) but let us take a picture of him holding
the signs so that we couldn't see his face.

Sorry about your experience with the low-level provacatuer.

But I am one of those people who appeared at the large counter-protests at the
Federal Building in West Los Angeles during Nov. 2000, protesting in favor of Dubya
during the vote imbroglio.

I work in the UCLA/Westwood area where the Fed. Building is located...and did NOT want my face
appearing in any newspapers or on any websites.
I didn't give anyone my actual name and only went by my Freeper handle.
One after-action photo did appear on freerepublic.com which identified "VOA"...
fortunately it was not me.

Sure, this is acting over-cautiously, but my employer and work environment are
NOT tolerant of "diversity" in opinion.
It's sad to say, but the police state of East Germany may be gone, but it lives on
in politically-correct-obssessed enclaves in the USA.

Thank you, mtn...you guys are giving so many other Fresno residents hope. Could be that the little thief was simply a mischievous thief looking for attention. Sorry about the loss of your sign. Your message comes through without a sign- red, white and blue, downright decent, and with the courage of your convictions.(^:
