With conservatives, or those who wish they were conservatives, Bush generally is as insightful as Chauncey the gardener from Being There: people project onto him all sorts of things which are beyond his comprehension, and infer from his demeanor some sort of as yet undisclosed master plan or agenda which will smite the Left hip and thigh, second guessing and reading into his words things which simply aren't there. To be a true acolyte in Bush requires more faith, that is, belief in the absence of sufficient evidence, than is good for basic mental hygiene. In other words, expecting something from Bush which he is unable to deliver has the potential to cause not a few mental problems in those who believe in him.

On the other hand, we have Bush pandering to Mexico and its caudillo/guerilla socialist kleptocratic political culture in an extremely dubious atempt to win Hispanic votes.

The following will serve as an illustration of how a certain politician adored by many conservatives is just another generic DC punter playing around with words, depending upon his audience to define his political identity:

The following are excerpts from a March 23, 2002 Washington Times piece by Bill Sammon. The following are excerpts from a March 23, 2002 Washington Times piece by Bill Sammon.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"MONTERREY, Mexico: ----- ------- yesterday said Americans are duty-bound to 'share our wealth' with poor nations and promised a 50 percent increase in foreign aid, but 'We should give more of our aid in the form of grants, rather than loans that can never be repaid,' he said. 'We should invest in better health and build on our efforts to fight AIDS, which threatens to undermine whole societies.'

"In addition to the moral, economic and strategic imperatives of increasing foreign aid, ----- ------- said, it could also help in the war against terrorism.

"'We will challenge the poverty and hopelessness and lack of education and failed governments that too often allow conditions that terrorists can seize and try to turn to their advantage.'"

Here's a small political quiz. Who is quoted above?

a) George McGovern
b) Bill Clinton
c) Al Gore
d) Al Sharpton
e) Jesse Jackson
f ) Ted Kennedy
g) George W. Bush

Hint: He's very popular here at Free Republic.

This really puts it on the line. The people so in rage at the democrats for what they have said about Bush and the attack demand that we get to the bottom of it as to the Clintons part. Demand our people ask the question everyday til we get an answer.

I think "Joe-average" citizen is way beyond sharpening his pitchfork about now. The treasonous behaviour of the Democrats has to be ended once and for all. November will be telling of the rage of the American public towards their actions. We can only hope that the VOTER FRAUD machine they've got going won't compensate for American rage at the polls.

Bush's appeal to Mexicans is somewhat of a myth. Yes, he appealed to Americans of Mexican descent. These are people who have been Americans longer than most of our ancestors. The GOP is trying to get everyone to believe if he makes 'citizens' of all the lawbreaking illegals here,(a totally different breed of people) they will vote for him. Not going to happen!!!

But Bush is too stupid to understand it. He's still living in Texas where all he needed to do was speak broken Spanish to a few locals and they would slobber on themselves. That will end with increase in numbers and political power.

By your writings I can tell that you greatly admired Reagan during his years, but you would never call it worshipping him. ClancyJ hit the mark with her description of Bush, if you could set your animosity aside for a minute you might be able to see the wisdom of some of Bush's decisions.

-------------------------------------

You are attempting to divert the discussion into my FEELINGS of animosity. This isn't about feelings. This is about stone cold logical analysis which you are attempting to get me to lay aside.

"I don't care if you have proof that he raped a woman, stood up and shot her dead, you're still not going to get 67 votes."

They were asking the senate republicans to simply hand the presidency over to Algor, and that's the problem. We need, immediately, a law saying that nobody profits from evil deeds; if a president is impeached, his stinkin veep goes out the door with him, and the presidency is handed over to the oldest US senator of the president's political party on condition that he may not ever run for president again, and the next election is on an equal basis as far as incumbancy.

Not at all, I just stated a fact that is evident. If you believe I've diverted the attention, I think you are guilty as well. Your statement below shows that your intentions are to demoralize those who believe in President Bush by labelling Bush supporters as "worshipers of the man".

For the life of me I can't see why some of you insist on worshipping this man.

It is imperative that President Bush wage war now at home and not allow any more of the previous administration to slide on their crimes that are exposed. Many of us who voted for President Bush knew what he was getting into and we also have patience for each step that must take place to accomplish it.

Jeffords made a strategic move, shutting down the Republican agenda. We must win in November to have success to prosecute after investigations have been completed. We had years of investigations but no one to finish the task.

Reagan...

Speaking of a dim bulb with never an intelligent phrase on his lips. "Well..."; Mr. Reagan; one of the most vapid men to ever capture the presidency; whose IQ was close to that of a half a glass of water.

I'll prove it when you prove that Bush is a dim bulb; how do you like them apples?

You can dish it out but you can't take it, can you? The only reason that I wrote that disparaging remark about Reagan is to skewer your hero the way you skewer other peoples hero; that being our President at the moment.

Debate your points reasonably and you'll get a reasonable response.

On this one Rush is right. There will be no new tone in Washington unless there is a final, once and for all exposure of the Clinton administration

your whole post #23 is excellent
I excerpted this line
thanks

Funny how the Message was "Congress should get a spine" And everybody gets exercised over Bush. Until we hold the Senate, House, & White House; don't expect this Adminstration to beat their heads against the wall. So what are you going to do about it.

The Republicans cannot grow a spine as long as they are in bed with the Democrats. It would be suicide.

hi swheats
I just found your post 67
mw1l used the same argument with me last week, he said if we win in November then the Bush administration will fully investigate and prosecute the clinton corruption
It's possible you and mw1l (my dear friend) are right
but I personally don't believe it
It took a tsunami of votes for George Bush to overcome the massive fraud in 2000 election
if that wasn't a mandate to prosecute the clinton corruption, I don't know what is
plus we elected in GOP House and Senate
Bob Ray got on tv before the election and said his decision to Indict would be affected by the election
before that I was beating the band for George Bush
after that I beat the band for GOP Congress too
So Bob Ray would have full support for Indictment
but first thing GOP did was pressure Bob Ray to let slick skate so George Bush would have clean slate for his administration
I think GOP has no intention of prosecuting clinton corruption
and doing complete exposure of what went on during slick willy's administration
unless it dawns on GOP it is simply too dangerous to allow slick willy to continue free
and by that time it will prolly be too late
slick willy has been moving swiftly all this time to put his pieces in place to upend President Bush's administration
I can't see anyway he can gain a whip-hand
but if there is a way, he will find it
love, palo

I never thought there was a way for someone to become dictator of USA either
but look how close he came

Hi swheats
I thought he handled the China crisis brilliantly
(brought the hostages home safe and sound)
and did excellent job in running his presidential campaign
plus handled the post-election attempted coup d'etat with perfect ability
I think he can accomplish whatever he wants
I agree with TBS's post tho that Rush's call to action is needed
love, palo

My dear palo you are definately entitled to your opinion concerning the Bush Admin and their strategy.

I'm willing to wait, I've got nothing but time, until November to see who's the victor, and what our options are. Have you been paying attention the last few days? The democrats have, with the media's complicity made outrageous claims against the Bush administration over a "memo". That has caused a minor distraction for some unknown reason. Speculaton is that to lower Bush's approval rating.

We've had this discussion before and my opinion or attitude has not changed. For prosecutions to stand there has to be witnesses from the Democrat party to come forward and to stay alive. The democrats have the "bait and switch" maneuver to a science. I've watched them in the last few days bring out the headline of Bush knowing before of 9/11 and did nothing. Now they have switched their tactics and blaming the Republicans and Bush's Admin of mistating, pointing fingers and all out misrepresenting what the democrats reported.

We'll just have to see what happens in the days to come. I stand behind this President and will continue to pray that no weapon formed against him shall prosper. Not just for his sake but for ours, that we may find ways and methods to counteract those in our Country who desire to destroy from within.

By quoting Bill Sammon, is he supposed to be an authority on Conservative issues? Personnally I believe he degraded himself by mentioning yesterday to Tony Snow that the Bush Admin should use certain documents to "spin" their way out of the current mess the democrats made. Truth will counter spin any day.

One thing I've come to realize is that, I don't like getting my news of what the President said from news reports. The grapevine mentality has the drawback of missing relevant information to make my final judgement from.

If you will read Reagan's autobiography and some of his writing, his vocabulary and use of words suggests he was a pretty intelligent man.

No question of that. Yet what I'm referring to is the fact that for one thing - Bush is highly intelligent. However, he is not as brilliant as maybe a Clinton. Yet Bush has the qualities that make a great leader where only intelligence will not do it. Clinton has intelligence yet he uses it to promote himself, he is basically corrupt and uses that intelligence in getting involved in corruptness.

Bush has strong moral character, is a religious man, is a wonderful uniter with the ability to bring out the best in those that work with him. He is not ego-driven to the point he will not surround himself with the very top people, he is not geared to making himself look good. He is very confident, has a simple view of right and wrong and wonderful instincts. He is grounded in the views of the middle America segment - not the Washington crowd.

Without these qualities he would not have become the strong leader he is, he would not have stepped forward like he did, he would not have been surrounded by the greatest possible team as we battle with terrorists.

These qualities were not appreciated until we saw how they worked in his favor and the confidence and trust that he has been able to build.

I e-mailed both Chester Lott & Don Nickels on this! I'm with Rush 110% on this, it's time to start "the good fight". Take this fight straight to the RATS! Pull the gloves off, pick up your rifle, and lock & load. It's time to do battle for this President! A President that has a much tougher job because of the irresponsibility and immaturity of his predesessor (or is that preditor)! This is a stain CAUSED by liberalism!

I'm not expecting anything from Chester (I got one canned reply to 18 e-mails), but I always get a timely response from Nickels. He's either a really great guy, or he has the most dedicated staff on the Hill. I like these folks. It seems like I always get a reply from SuSieR (how appropriate.)

Republicans, listen, and listen hard: YOU HAVE YOUR BASE BEHIND YOU 110%, NOW GO TO BATTLE MODE, AND KICK THEIR A$$!

It's time to take this thing apart and put it back together the right way........pun intended!

By the way, if SuSieR is lurking out there, tell your boss I trust him. As for yourself, if I wasn't the happiest man on earth, and had the greatest woman to make me that way...I'd be coming to Washington and we'd have some supper.

Still, just Timy
