If you will read Reagan's autobiography and some of his writing, his vocabulary and use of words suggests he was a pretty intelligent man.

No question of that. Yet what I'm referring to is the fact that for one thing - Bush is highly intelligent. However, he is not as brilliant as maybe a Clinton. Yet Bush has the qualities that make a great leader where only intelligence will not do it. Clinton has intelligence yet he uses it to promote himself, he is basically corrupt and uses that intelligence in getting involved in corruptness.

Bush has strong moral character, is a religious man, is a wonderful uniter with the ability to bring out the best in those that work with him. He is not ego-driven to the point he will not surround himself with the very top people, he is not geared to making himself look good. He is very confident, has a simple view of right and wrong and wonderful instincts. He is grounded in the views of the middle America segment - not the Washington crowd.

Without these qualities he would not have become the strong leader he is, he would not have stepped forward like he did, he would not have been surrounded by the greatest possible team as we battle with terrorists.

These qualities were not appreciated until we saw how they worked in his favor and the confidence and trust that he has been able to build.

No one denies any of that. He is moral, and a big part of his morality thinks that sharing the wealth is an ethical thing to do. One need not be a Marxist to believe in this sort of thing, for verification, read up on Huey Long.

His religious character is fine, so far as it goes. He's not the sort to molest school girls in the Oval Office. He quit drinking in his middle age. Fine. What this tells me is that he waited until he was forty years old to grow up and quit acting like a kid.

And he is a uniter. The trouble is, he wants to unite the continental US with Mexico, and the US economy with Red China. The advisability of that is open to question, to say the least. He wants us all to quit confronting ghetto trash, perverts, and con artists bent on the deconstruction, disassembly, and destruction of the USA and the ideology which establishes it as the last, best hope for the human race.

With things like these being touted as conservatism, what is there left for conservatives to conserve these days, pray tell?

I see little evidence of this. I see evidence that people want to believe it, but I see no evidence of it.
