A day in the life of President Bush (photos): 5/15 and 5/16/02

This is a special double-edition daily dose due to FR being down yesterday...
President Bush and his administration were in the defensive today as Democrats and the media swarmed around revelations that the President was given a general warning about possible hijackings before September 11th. It was revealed later in the day that the very same Democrats leading the negative charge, Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt, also knew of the briefings yet failed to let the media know. By the end of the day, it was the Republicans in Congress leading the charge and taking the Democrats to task for their usual games of partisan slander.
This afternoon, in a move to give the public more knowledge on the exact nature of the briefings, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice confronted the media with detailed national security intelligence in the months leading up to September 11th. It was made clear that the intelligence briefings given to the President were not specific or detailed enough to prevent the suicide bomber attacks.
In much lighter news, the President began the day at the First Annual National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast. Later he presented the Congressional Gold Medal to President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy.

But she has chosen the tough route. I admire her for that.So do I, and she looks GREAT! I only hope I can make it to 80, much less look THAT good!
I know for a fact the difficulties she faces everyday with RR. My mother has Alzheimer's, and though she is not at the really bad stage, it is still a trial on the family. I live quite a ways from home, and don't get to see her often, so I don't have to deal with the day to day, but it is tough emotionally on my brothers and sisters. We were fortunate in that we found a very caring woman who lives with her so she can stay in her own home, and have some measure of 'sameness' in her life. I'm sure that's what Nancy wanted for her Ronnie.

Laura must be haertbroken not being able to be here for her husband as the RATS unleashed this nasty attack on our PresidentNasty is the right word. I've been sick about it all day. Just when I think the Dems have sunk as low as they possibly can, they outdo themselves. I have come to the conclusion that there are no nasty, slimy depths to which they will not sink.

Oh my God, I have been waiting for the last hour for the Dose. I was on the phone the last 15 minutes so I missed the very start.
First off, I'm on my second glass of wine, I am PMSing and I am totally emotional about FR being down yesterday and the trashing that W is taking in the press today.
First off, it was absolutely awful not having the Dose or FR last night. Fortunately, I was busy and wasn't in a total state of frenzy but all I kept thinking was 'what if it is gone for good? How in the world will I ever find all my friends from the Dose?' It was soooooo depressing to even conceive of, let alone actually prepare for. I was one happy camper when it was up this morning.
Second, I am so sicken by what the Democrats are doing. I nearly cried when I saw that CNN hauled out relatives of the victims to proclaim that their father/son/wife/daughter's death was Bush's fault. He must be so heartbroken and LAURA IS NOT THERE TO CONSOLE HIM!!! My God, I CANNOT believe how low the Democrats and the press accomplices will go! It is so appalling. I will never, ever trust a Democrat again.
A bit of good news, however. Anyone want those photos the Dems were so distraught over? Here's how:
1) call 202-478-4425 to order or
2) Fax name, mailing address, phone #, credit card info and amount to 202-478-4422 or
3) Send a check to: 2002 President's Dinner, Box 172, Washington DC 20013.
I received this info from the RNC in response to my email. I hope sales go through the frickin' roof!
All for now. Whew....it's so good to 'see' all of you!

Fabulous pictures rintense! Ahhhhhhhhh...... you are such a welcome relief from all the Bush bashers on the tube today. I am soooooooooo sick of the RATS criticizing this great man we all call W. You know, I just want to stand up and scream.... We finally get an honest man in the White House and all they want to do is tear him down.
I can easily understand why W loves his Texas ranch. That wonderful ranch must look like an island in paradise to Laura and W about right now.

Rintense, these are outstanding. Thank you so very much. W was so solicitous and respectful of Nancy Reagan. You can tell his momma raised him right -- what a gentleman. Nancy looked wonderful, if a bit frail. She has my undying admiration for the care she gives one of my biggest heroes.

How's it going, Princess?

I think you may be onto something. The democrats probably would have preferred to use this as an 11th hour surprise, as they did with the 30 year old dui. Bush has been two steps ahead of them since he was inaugerated.

Yes, she looks at him like a loving mother would. I never understood what Michael Reagan's problem with GW was (jealousy, maybe?).
I watched a bit of this on Shep Smith tonight and saw that old far! Bob Byrd with his lax clap. Hated seeing him up there next to Nancy and GW. Sort of ruined a beautiful clip.
Thanks again, rintense, for the great pics every night. It is a must see each evening!

The media frenzy made me sick too, but what made me sicker was the blatantly partisan political ploys of Gephardt and Daschle. They piously planted the seed with the press, insinuated unspeakable things, then went on their merry way. It is reprehensible to even suggest President Bush would do such a thing. I applaud the White House's response. Condi, Lott and Cheney were masterful in their responses. Pitiful the Dems have to sink to such levels.

More Laura! Her eyes are just breathtakingly beautiful! I love the clothes she has worn on this trip, so colorful! I like that coatdress in the first pic, but am wondering if it is the same as in the later pictures (a change of light making it LOOK a different color) or if she has one each in the plum and one in the fuschia. Either way, they are lovely!!

I've heard that routine is important for alzheimer patients. It must be tough for you.

I barely said anything! But your show is great. I highly recommend it to every freeper.
