This is a special double-edition daily dose due to FR being down yesterday...

President Bush and his administration were in the defensive today as Democrats and the media swarmed around revelations that the President was given a general warning about possible hijackings before September 11th. It was revealed later in the day that the very same Democrats leading the negative charge, Tom Daschle and Dick Gephardt, also knew of the briefings yet failed to let the media know. By the end of the day, it was the Republicans in Congress leading the charge and taking the Democrats to task for their usual games of partisan slander.

This afternoon, in a move to give the public more knowledge on the exact nature of the briefings, National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice confronted the media with detailed national security intelligence in the months leading up to September 11th. It was made clear that the intelligence briefings given to the President were not specific or detailed enough to prevent the suicide bomber attacks.

In much lighter news, the President began the day at the First Annual National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast. Later he presented the Congressional Gold Medal to President Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy.

I definitely would like to receive your most excellent-sounding Bush tape after hoosiermama sees it, and the book about Laura after mtngrl, if she has it now and it's not committed elsewhere after her perusal.

It costs the same to mail the tape 30 miles as 3,000 miles, so the efficiency loss may only be in mailing time. But I'm sure everyone is happy to get it when they can. You are most kind to lend it!

The GOP convention is June 28th and 29th. The "dinner" is on the 28th, Friday. I plan on coming over on Friday a.m., the convention opens in the afternoon. So, we could either meet that evening, unless of course the president is speaking at the dinner (but perhaps I could take you as a guest?) or for lunch on Friday. I have a meeting this weekend and will have a better schedule of events and will let you know times, etc. It would be great to hook up!

I think you can go to www.CSPAN.org and replay the Washington Journal or whatever program that scumbag and LIAR (WAY TO GO!!! FREEPERS WAY UP for our fabulous bush babe) was on. CSPAN has the media thing that allows video as well as voice replay.

Another thwarted terrorist attack: Canadian - US officials worked together to stop a terrorist at the Washington border, who had explosives and a plan to blow up things in Seattle. Ramze (sp?) Youssef (sp?) provided info on it after the terrorist was booked.

Another al Qaeda plot uncovered (by the Filipino government?) involved blowing up 13 jumbo jets over the Pacific Ocean.

I know. I cried when I first heard about it. CNN will stop at nothing. Supposedly it was a John King report. I cannot believe what they are trying to do to this man, our President. Words cannot describe my outrage at this. Just makes me sick.
