I can't see the Dem party coming behind McCain and actually getting him elected as a Democrat.
He's much more valuable to them as a spoiler, either in the primaries as a Republican, or in the presidential election as an Independent.
If they actually run with McCain, it tells me they gave up before they started --- no true Democrat wants to suffer a humiliating defeat to Bush.
It occurred to me that the Dems are worried about losing their slim majority in the Senate. A presidential bid is the bait to lure McCain into a Jeffords-style defection.
I'd say at this point he's been largely successful in enacting AN agenda. Right now the philosophy behind the agenda is murky.
Someone has a dangling modifier. It would be far better to write:"McCain has said sufficiently often that he won't leave his party." By the way, the author was also wrong about Gore being the last elected president. Attempting to steal an election and being thwarted by the Supreme Court does not make one the last elected president. It makes one a loser.

"My concern about the role of the federal government is that an intrusive government, a government that says, Dont worry, we will solve your problems is a government that tends to crowd compassion out of the marketplace, that too often in the past people said: Somebody else will take care of the problem in my area. Dont worry. The government is here. "

Clinton's Takeover of Education
"Not long after this letter was written, Hillary, Marc Tucker, Ira Magaziner, Vera Katz, Mario Cuomo and the other board members of the National Center On Education and the Economy met to compile there ideas into one report. The agenda laid out was titled, "A Human Resources Development Plan For The United States". Their plan and agenda is discussed in great detail in my 300 page book "Reclaiming A Nation At Risk" To order your own copy you may call 1800-954-1122 Ext 500. It is sad but true, Hillary and her friends have accomplished most of their initial objectives as laid out in their "humans resources development plan".
