DES MOINES, Iowa (January 20, 2000 12:27 p.m. EST http://www.nandotimes.com) - Though the Clinton impeachment left him "embarrassed for our country," George W. Bush said Thursday he doesn't want to dwell on the subject because "we're moving forward."
The GOP presidential front-runner told employees at the headquarters of the Principal Financial Group: "I am not afraid to talk about him, but I don't come here often and what I want people to see about me is where I am going to lead the country. We're moving forward. This is the 21st century. I think it's going to be one of the great centuries of all time if we do smart things, and that is what I really want to show the people."
The Texas governor made his remarks in response to a question in which he was asked why he has not followed another GOP contender, Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, who has criticized President Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky and continues to speak about moral issues in a new half-hour ad airing in advance of Monday's Iowa caucuses.
Bush routinely closes his stump speech with a pledge "to uphold the honor and the dignity of the office to which I have been elected." However, he rarely mentions Clinton by name and does not speak often about the presidential affair that led to last year's impeachment vote in Congress.
Clinton is not his opponent, Bush said Thursday. "My opponent is going to be ... either of the two Democrats. That is who my opponent is, and I think that is where the focus of the American people is going to be."
He added: "Like a lot of people, I was embarrassed; I was embarrassed for our country. But it's time to get over that embarrassment and head into the 21st century with a positive
program that's optimistic and hopeful for everybody."
Which is as it should be. Booby Hatch's diatribe the other day was a disgrace, not to mention a year too late.
Being a Keyes supporter..I gotta agree with GWB...it is time to get over it and move on...
B/S, Mr Bush. Clinton is a criminal and a traitor. We demand a thorough investigation and prosecution. Our Republic is dead and our liberty is at stake if the next administration does not clean up this mess for now and forever more. Corrupt politicians must pay the price for subverting our Constitution and using their offices for personal gain.
So now GWB has joined the Democrat chorus .......
Rather reminiscint of his father's not raising questions about the dubious Clintonian ethics...
I'll agree on passing on the Monica business.
But healthy, heartfelt and persistent outrage over filegate, Waco, the Justice Department, and Chinese espinonage does seem to be in order.
I hope the Governor isn't planning on allowing the Dems and their media hachet men to set the rules for this race.
"We demand a thorough investigation and prosecution."
I couldn't agree more, JimRob. But it ain't gonna happen if Gore or Bradley gets in. We need to keep Dubya's Justice Department's feet to the fire if we ever want to see justice done. Along with praying for Larry Klayman.
It the only way he can campaign and win. Although I did like Pat Buchanan's quip that after being sworn in, he would turn to Clinton and read him his Miranda Rights!
Jim, the number one objective right now is to get a Republican elected president. Once that person is in office the first order of business should be to get the Department of Justice to look into every closet and corner, investigate this bunch of criminals and bring them all to justice.
I believe Bush is right not focusing on Clinton at this point. There will be plenty of time later and I think he will do exactly that .

I couldn't agree more. Willy's next suit needs to be orange coveralls, and his next residence Leavenworth. With Hillary at his side, of course. Along with the gang of crooks he's infested our government with.
You've got to remember, Bush is talking to the sheeple not to the knowledgeable people of FR. The sheeple have been asleep for a very long time. Loud noises and sudden movements could cause them to panic and run in all directions into the waiting arms of the liberals. One step at a time, first get elected, then.......
Willy's next suit needs to be orange coveralls, and his next residence Leavenworth. With Hillary at his side, of course.
Actually, I imagine Clinton will issue a mass of pardons for every last one of his criminal associates, including Hillary, just before he leaves. Then and only then will the bulk of the citizens of this country realize the extent of the depravity of this administration...
Ummmm...Jim...maybe you need to read it a little closer...they are talking about the moral issues of Clinton's presidency (e.g. the affair), not the criminal issues, dear. There is a big difference. Am already running late getting out of here, so can't elaborate now, but I do believe that if info came down that would indict Clinton, Bush would follow through...he is very tough on criminals in Texas.

BINGO !!! !! !!
You hit the real nail on the real head. Bush sounds like Lanny Davis.

Exactly right, Clinton's crimes far exceed those detailed in the Lewinsky Affair. If the American Sheeple cannot muster the intestinal fortitude to bring this Corrupt Regime to Justice, we may not have the power to resist the next Tyrant, weaned on Slick Willie's ability to wantonly ignore the Constitution and the Laws of this Country!!
If the 21st Century is going to follow the last as another "American Century", Justice MUST be done NOW...MUD
Rather reminiscint[sic] of his father's[sic] not raising questions about the dubious Clintonian ethics[sic]
What don't you remember, the Bush campaign raising the character issue, or the press ridiculing it day after day after day?
Sheesh, so many good ways to malign Bush, Sr., and you pick the one that makes you look like a moron.
"Actually, I imagine Clinton will issue a mass of pardons for every last one of his criminal associates, including Hillary, just before he leaves."
Not even a POTUS can pardon someone for a crime for which they have yet to be formally indicted.

On the other hand, that's the reason I think any Republican will have a hard time winning in November. The Democrats can't afford to have a Republican Attorney General (how about Ken Starr?) snooping around looking into the records of this administration.
To maintain power, the Democrats will do all they can, by any means, to destroy the Republican candidate. Look for all hell to break loose around the middle of October. The stakes are too high for Gore to lose.
"We're moving forward."
Yes, nevermind those silly laws he broke and all our missile technology he sold to the Chicoms and wink, wink, lets just forget all those little murders, especially Vince Foster. Yes, lets move forward. Sweep it all under the rug and forget about it. Sure thing, boss!
I don't think it will be swept under the rug or forgotten. That is, unless Mr. Gore takes the oath of office.
Abso-f'n-lutely right! The time for prosecution is a year away! Since holding office was the excuse for not prosecuting at the time of the crimes' revelations!
Either prosecute the SOB or turn every damned criminal in the county free from prisons!

Also, the press -- ever the demoshills -- do not want to be so clearly exposed, either. BTW, Mark Levin or Larry Klayman would be better AG's.
I'm torn. Constitutionally (I mean mine, not that of the US) I'm with Jim. But I think it's probably smarter for him to take this stance, now. But pray to God that, if he takes office, this isn't his stance.
And he's not running against Clinton. Against the backdrop of, yes, but not against.
Dan
Not even a POTUS can pardon someone for a crime for which they have yet to be formally indicted.
Must disagree. Remember Ford's pardon of Nixon?
agreed, good sir. however, whether bush, forbes, keyes or whoever, the presidential candidate need not harp on the sex angle(and i know that is not what you are referring to)which is how the press will portray the subject. vague references to dignity, honor, the rule of law etc. will suffice, for now. indictments later. the public will constantly be reminded of the scandal otherwise, e.g. jenny craig diets, late show jokes, new scandal books etc. the polls do not look so bad regarding the public's growing disgust with the dogpatch administration. as to bush, he is still a question. with continuing thanks for your fine forum.....e!
Either prosecute the SOB or turn every damned criminal in the county free from prisons!
I agree....after all, fair is fair.
Our Republic is dead and our liberty is at stake if the next administration does not clean up this mess for now and forever more.
Jim, I appreciate your forum and dig where you are coming from. But statements like this show up from time to time and reflect, IMHO, a certain naivette I wish to address. No one, I repeat, no one is going to clean up ANY mess once and forever more. Not even God himself will do it. He punished us in the days of Adam. As a result, humans are imperfect sinful creatures.
We are at war with liberals and will be fighting these issues to the day we die. We need to understand that this is a marathon and pace ourselves emotionally. Step No. 1 is to begin to undo the mess by getting rid of as many liberals politically as we can and increase our Republican majority in Congress and win back the WH. This won't fix it either. But this will put our side in a position of power to begin to swing the momentum the other way. It will take many, many years to undo the damage caused by these liberals over the last 40 years. We must be strong, determined but smart and patient to eventually defeat liberalism. And - we must have the VOTES! Anyone who thinks there is magic bullet to quickly fix this is just deluding themselves and others.
God bless you and what you are doing here!
"One step and a time, first get him elected..." Then what? Trust him to 'do the right thing'? Or, maybe be a 'compassionate conservative' and pardon the offenders? 'Move on'? NO Way! We can't move on until confidence in our govt., Consitution, and the rule of law have been restored!
Jim:
I agree with you 100%. He and she should be held up for all to see for what they are. I think that they are both criminals and want them to face justice. (not clinton's type either)
Tommie
If you sperm was discovered on the dress of a ho-bag when you testified UNDER OATH and the PENALTY OF PERJURY (a felony?) in a trial in which you were accused of sexual harassment, that you DID NOT HAVE ANY SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THE WOMAN WHOSE DRESS YOUR SPERM WAS ON.....
What would happen to you? Your family would be without you, your business would probably collapse and you wouldn't have much of an outlook but for JAIL!!!!
So, you'd rather have him bring all that up prior to the election and give Clinton exactly what he wants? Yeah, boy, that'll fix em. No question what so ever that Gore will pardon him.....is that what you want?
I tend to agree with your sentiments. The American public was lied to, used, and made a fool of by Clinton and his lackeys.
He used every agency (including the FBI, IRS, SS) to intimidate his accusers and victims.
He used every official, including his cabinet ministers, to spread disinformation about his crimes.
He used the Attorney General, Reno, to obstruct investigations.
He used his office staff (Currie) to cover up his crimes and obstruct a grand jury investigation.
He used his friends in Hollywood and the Media to leak damaging information about his detractors.
He even used the U.S. Military to try and distract the American public from the truth.
For these crimes (and others as well) he should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
However, Bush cannot be seen as an avenging angel in a war on Clinton. Were he to voice these truths and vow to "bring
Clinton to justice",
he would be branded as partisan and his AG would become the sock puppet of a president bent on revenge.
IOW, Bush could be accused of some of the same abuses of power that Clinton is so guilty of.
I would hope that Bush shares your sentiments (and mine too) but I can understand why it's not the appropriate time to share them.
Just to add to the discussion, John McCain said on the O'Reilly Factor tonight that he would not indict Janet Reno if he became President because of her health. Go figure.
Clinton is a criminal and a traitor. We demand a thorough investigation
and prosecution. Our Republic is dead and our liberty is at stake

I agree completely. If the people are to ever have any respect for the office it is of utmost importance to get to the bottom of all clintons crimes and to see that justice is done. Bush will not lift a finger to see that the perps are indicted, ot even investigated. The republicans in the senate have already shown they have no stomach for it. It doesn't matter how many seats they might pick up (if they do) they won't do anything. There is to much dirt on both sides. The republicans can no more tolerate a thorough investigation than can the dems. Sad to say.
With all of the important issues they could have impeached clinton on, look at what they chose. Important yes, but the most minor of his criminality. Also the one that wouldn't get the republicans dirty along with clinton.
Our only hope for any justice that I see is through people like Klayman. Much of what we know now is due to his efforts.
Those who think a republican (Bush in particular) will do anything is living in a dream world.
WarHawk42
Bush has been endorsed publicly by many members of the very moderate REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP COUNCIL ADVISORY BOARD, which was formed in 1997, and who have NEVER spoken out on Clinton's behavior. They have, however issued press releases such as
They are the same group who have issued TV ads and press releases knocking fellow Republicans, (three against Forbes...one even before he started airing any ads).
Their mission, from their homepage includes the goal to:
attract conservative Democrats and Independents to forge a winning electoral coalition in congressional and presidential elections.
This is from the attack ad on Forbes:
Call Steve Forbes and tell him to join George Bush and John
McCain in running a positive campaign on the issues.
If I were a Keyes, Bauer or Hatch fan, I would be offended.
Finally, here are some RINO and RINOette members of the RLC...(many pro-baby killers and Clinton apologists): Christy Whitman, William Weld, Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, Susan Molanari, Ben Knighthorse Campbell, Arlen Specter, George Pataki.....(you get the drift).
Looks to me like nothing will happen in the future and that is very depressing indeed. :-(((
"Must disagree. Remember Ford's pardon of Nixon?"
I've read that the Nixon pardon was purely political and wouldn't have held up in court. In fact, many of the Left-Wing zealots in the Democratic Party wanted to go ahead and challenge it, but to do so would have allowed Nixon to prove that he had in fact committed no actual crimes.
I'm not arguing that a "purely political" pardon wouldn't be sufficient to stop the spineless Republicans from pursuing justice, but I'm not sure the Nixon pardon is a solid precedent.

IMO, this needs to be posted periodically. Thanks for your "plain talk".
Ditto, JimRob: glad to see you check in on this--glad to see you're not a GWB supporter, though I always doubted that you were.
"Not even a POTUS can pardon someone for a crime for which they have yet to be formally indicted."
Yes. They can. And have.
For example, Gerald Ford's unconditional pardon to Richard Nixon...
The only unresolved Constitutional question is whether a sitting President can pardon himself. Meaning that Algore gets to be President-For-A-Day.
I hope this doesn't mean he will pardon the clintons if they are indicted. I wish there was some way to ask Bush.
Bush is indeed a "New Republican" just as Clinton styled himself a "New Democrat"--what Bush and the Dems can "promise" you is that they will move away from L'Affaire Lewinsky, and let the real crimes dissolve in their wake. As far as they're concerned, there are no other crimes. The LAST thing on Bush's agenda is ANYTHING to do with Clinton----everything will be left in place: all the dead "non"- issues regarding Clinton will be left to atrophy and all the trails getting colder by the day will be allowed to freeze over. It'll be like it never happened. That's what "moving forward" means.
"... but I'm not sure the Nixon pardon is a solid precedent."
From Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution:
"...and he [the President] shall have the Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment."
If the liberal left-wing wanted to challenge Ford's pardon in 1974, they would've been the ones challenging the Constitution. The President's power to pardon is limited only where it conflicts with the Congress' power to impeach (though the President could still pardon the impeachee for the underlying crime, if there be one, saving him from criminal action).
"President" Bush will do NOTHING to bring any kind of justice to the crimes of the Clinton Administration. For obvious reasons.
"George W. Bush said Thursday he doesn't want to dwell on the subject because "we're moving forward." -- article
America can not move forward until this slime ball POTUS is placed behind bars. He has performed more than destroy his presidentcy with the loss of his credibility, he has destroyed the Constitution. He has destroyed many a family with his methods.
Wait until this slime ball is thrown out of the Whore House! Hi Mr. Bill! You are now a free citizen; free from the shackles of that difficult job of presidential authority! You lucky dog! We are now here, to have you really serve. LOL!
Ref your post #36 - - you are 100% correct. It sickens me every day but the pathetic reality is that Clinton & Co. are going to move on to Hollywood, write their memoirs, do the talk show circuit, and make millions. Regardless of who gets elected - even Keyes, whom I support. Regardless if the Repubs gain seats in Congress. It just ain't gonna happen. Nobody's going to jail. There isn't going to be any great "sweep", investigation, clean-up, indictments, etc. I want to be wrong, and time alone will tell. But I don't think I am.
How do you think the Waco investigation got re-invigorated? Or do you think the Texas Rangers keep their commander uninformed like the FBI does to Clinton?
You Bushies are dreamin'....Once again, all sleeping dogs will be allowed to lie, and not woken up ever again. NOTHING WILL BE DONE TO CLINTON & CO.!!!!
It still has not been settled as to whether a president can pardon himself. This might also be something clintoon has up his sleeve for when he leaves office.
Clinton is a lame duck, talking about scandals at this point is a distraction. When their is a pubbie landslide in Nov., any criminal activities should be investigated and prosecuted.
This should be a routinue issue and not the new president's big priority. This vermon just isn't important enough. Put in an honest Justice Department and let them do their job without the pols. They shirked their duty last year.
JimRob...... amen from the choir!.....this is another one of those questions that the media refuses to address as a query to the GOP candidates: What about the contiued investigation of the criminal in the White House--AFTER he leaves office?...it's that "let's move on" approach by both parties that refuses to address the corruption accountability that makes me sick.
But the Clinton corruption and skeletons may be worrying Mr. Bush for other reasons that may rise "Whitewater-like" out of a future W administration.....we shall see.....for there are well-researched pieces yet to come.
Sometimes a flank attack or other more subtle strategies are more effective than the headlong charge. Just ask General Pickett. General Lee should have listened to Longstreet. Unless of course you think a President Gore is likely to vigorously pursue the investigations you desire.
Yeah, Bush would fit right in with Lott and Hastert.
I understand that when one moves from the DNC to the RNC or vise versa, you don't even need to put in a "change-of-address" form. Again we let the Press choose our leaders.
"...do you think the Texas Rangers keep their commander uninformed like the FBI does Clinton...." ****Please explain to me the sense behind what sounds like another "wishful- thinkin'" scenario that you apparently think will flow from the "re-invigorated" Waco investigation.
Being a Keyes supporter..I gotta agree with GWB...it is time to get over it and move on...
You move on. I'm gonna just sit here and keep braiding this here rope.
The NWO crowd, looks after their own.
Will agree with you, but such is not the president's choice, as it belongs to the House of Congress and the Department of Justice to clean up the fiascos, criminal elements, lies and malignancies of the Clinton administration. Should we have the correct type and character if individuals in the Senate and Congress, and those appointed to Justice Department after the Clinton gang is out, then we may arrive once again at truth and justice in government. It will not come with Gore, as he will most likely give pardons out by the dozens. As to the populace, will they still want it happening, or have they became even less interested? I sincerely hope not. Have a nice day, Jim.
"The number one objective right now is to get a Republican elected president. Once that person is in office the first order of business should be to get the Department of Justice to look into every closet and corner, investigate this bunch of criminals and bring them all to justice."
This is exactly right! WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Either that or let Gore have the job!!
I truly believe W will clean up the Justice Department, knowing it is corrupt. There is no need to dwell on Clinton as he will be history!
I know W is a honest man and will do his damnest to do it right!
> Sometimes a flank attack or other more subtle strategies > are more effective than the headlong charge. Just ask > General Pickett. General Lee should have listened to > Longstreet. Unless of course you think a President Gore is > likely to vigorously pursue the investigations you desire.

Oh, man, you're killin' me here...
"...But it's time to get over that embarrassment and head into the 21st century with a positive program that's optimistic and hopeful for everybody."
I agree. But we first have to heal the wound--which can't happen until we cleanse it and kill all infection.
I'm hoping GW is using this "we're moving forward" approach in order to keep the liberal media off his back during the campaign. He seems like a strong feisty person and I would think he would remember his dad was defeated by Clinton and his lackeys. Thus I would also guess that he would want the legal questions surrounding his family's enemies pursued once he was in office. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, and pray that justice will eventually prevail in the case of Clinton Crime. People can talk all they want about NWO and such, I think human nature being as it is, the natural inclination would be to avenge family and friends who have been wronged.
I hope the Governor isn't planning on allowing the Dems and their media
Hachet men to set the rules for this race.
Not on your life, not this Bush! Wake up people, he did exactly as
he should stand taller than this muck! let the Hatchet man and others,
carry this slop. If he would have taken the bait, the Media Morons would
have had a headline to push his victory aside. They own the airwaves, and
if and when, he gets a chance to speak for himself, let it be his statements,
not their answers, for which they have a story already written!
I WANT TO WIN THIS TIME, NOT BY CHANCE OR DEFAULT, I want my kids to stay
out of war, get a decent education, and a safe private school, WITH A TAX
EXEMPTION, (please Lord, just a small one), I want to trust the FBI, ATF,
CIA, FCC, IRS, NSF, and NASA! I want my children to be judged by the content
of their heart and mind, not the color of their money, or the fear I exude
at the city council, school board Meetings! I want to load my revolver,
trusting I won't have to defend myself, in a lawsuit brought by a critically
wounded intruder, represented by a scum bag lawyer, using my tax dollars!
I have a nightmare, that my little children were camping
with their cub scout leader, and he thought of them as pervert toys, and
I had to cripple him, with his own arm, and the EEOC, ACLU, People For
The American Way, and Act up, camped out on my perfectly manicured lawn,
stepping in my wife's rose bushes, and having to call an ambulance to render
first aid to those who survived triage!
Yes I WANT TO WIN, to protect the institute of marriage, the Justice
and Jury system, from manipulators and perverts! I want to trust what I'm
told by my own Church, School, Government, knowing that the mongrel cabal,
that was creeping into power, has been caught, disgraced, and have
become the topic of ridicule, and shame!
I WANT TO WIN THIS TIME BECAUSE TIME AND MEMORY ARE RUNNING OUT, soon not
many people will be left, who actually remember when it was good, at least
better, when women and men thought only about bettering the lives of their
offspring, and protecting our neighbors, community, country, and the whole
world, without the fear of a contract, or a slick clause, or undeclared
profit, or a recrimination lawsuit, brought by a bearded lesbian, or an
AMERICAN with a novel disability or anything, that has crossed my path.
I WAND TO WIN THIS TIME , BECAUSE I WANT MY BLACK FRIENDS BACK, WITHOUT
THE DISTRUST, ANGER, FEAR!
SO YOU FOLKS THINKING ABOUT A THIRD PARTY, STAYING HOME, RETALIATORY VOTE,
PLEASE, REMEMBER MY PLEA, I fought for your right to be wrong, once or
twice, BUT NO THREE TIME LOSERS, not now, it's getting too late!
"He added: "Like a lot of people, I was embarrassed; I was embarrassed for our country. But it's time to get over that embarrassment and head into the 21st century with a positive program that's optimistic and hopeful for everybody."
I can't believe this!! Are we so embarrassed by it that we will sweep it under the rug, pretending it didn't happen? And the next idiot who commits purjury, subverts his oath of office, subborns perjury, or obstructs justice will also enjoy the advantage of this shameful precedent? Let's get real! Justice has not even begun to be carried out. After the toon leaves office there HAD BETTER be action taken to ensure that it NEVER happens again! If this candidate for President will not do it then he is as useless to us as a chief executive as he can be. I personally support Alan Keyes, but I'll tell you, I don't know what his stand is on this either. I only hope he has the sense to advocate Clinton's being brought to justice!

If the liberal left-wing wanted to challenge Ford's pardon in 1974, they would've been the ones challenging the Constitution."
My understanding of the argument was that the term "Offences" was up for debate in that unless someone has been indicted for a crime, how do you know what "Offence" is to pardoned? If incontrovertible evidence arises two years from now that Hell'ry was the triggerperson on the Foster hit, but the Rapist-in-Chief has already pardoned her for "all offences or perceived offences committed on or before 20 January 2001," do you think the Supreme Court's going to let her walk on this technicality?
IMHO, the Right needs to make it perfectly clear that any Abuse of Presidential Pardon Power will be vigorously challenged with any Constitutional means we have at our disposal...and Justice will ultimately be done!!

His daddy, along with Dole, also ignored these 'personal issues.'
It cost them the election, and hurt America's morality.
Getting ready to pardon Clintonistas? Vote pubbicrat and send money.
"Jim, the number one objective right now is to get a Republican elected president."
What good is electing a Republican if they refuse to investigate criminals, no matter their status?
Millions have left the Republican party since both Bush, Dole, and the Senate failed to investigate/discuss Clinton's curruption.
"...any criminal activities should be investigated and prosecuted. This should be a routinue issue and not the new president's big priority."
I'm afraid many on the Right are unconvinced that this is a routine issue, and that Dubyuh would allow the participants in The Most Corrupt Administration in American History to avoid accountability for their Crimes against this Nation. This needn't be "the president's big priority," but IMHO he must demonstrate his insistence on Justice as a central point in his winning campaign. The Principle of Equal Justice Under the Law does matter!!

Ignoring the Clinton scandals is a good plan, a good plan to give us Algore for the next four.
Good for GWBush. Why would anyone want to linger near or in Clinton's scummy cesspool? It's Clinton's shame, not the Republican contenders. That's the problem though with Coreless Gore, he is stuck in it and stained with it. Heck, even El Rushbo, must have to clean off his Golden EIB Microphone each time he must talk about Sick Willy's scum-scourge of the 90's.
George W. Bush said recently, "this is the beginning of the end of the Clinton era", Hallelujah, George row that boat a shore and lets get this cesspool cleaned up!
"IMHO, the Right needs to make it perfectly clear that any Abuse of Presidential Pardon Power will be vigorously challenged with any Constitutional means we have at our disposal...and Justice wil ultimately be done!!"
I have little doubt that, when the time comes, the Clinton administration will test the pardon "system" -- just as they've tested everything else.
As this administration approaches its graceless end, the First Felon will be issuing blanket pardons -- with an autopen. But I betcha there's one thing he won't do!
Bill Clinton will not pardon himself, even if he believed that he could do so, under the law. Nor will he resign and let Algore be President-for-a-Day, so as to let the Vice-Perpetrator issue the pardon.
Because, in the depths of Bill Clinton's sociopathic mind and conscienceless soul, he never did anything illegal, unethical or otherwise wrong in any way. Moreover, at bottom, he's a risk-taker, he likes life "on the edge". And, if he isn't personally covered by a presidential pardon, it's an open challenge to the next administration to "catch me, if you can".
And if the evil, mean-spirited Republicans should come after him, it will keep Bill Clinton in the public eye and swaddle him in non-stop media attention.
To a mind like his, it's worth the risk...
"Hallelujah, George row that boat a shore and lets get this cesspool cleaned up!"
No, no, no. It's Michael who gets to row that boat ashore.
You said and explained Clinton better than anyone. He is the sun and all else revolves around him.
I just don't believe GW will go after him nor permit anyone to go after Clinton. GW's daddy had connections to Clinton prior to Clinton ever being elected and they sure don't want any of that brought out this late in life for the old man.
"...in the depths of Bill Clinton's sociopathic mind and conscienceless soul, he never did anything illegal, unethical or otherwise wrong in any way. Moreover, at bottom, he's a risk-taker, he likes life "on the edge"."
I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your psychoanalysis of the Butcher of the Balkans. However, this ain't just about Bill Clinton, and I don't think the Right ought to alter their respect for--and commitment to--the "Rule of Law" and "Equal Justice for All" in response to the whimsical self-delusions of a vile man.

"I'm not necessarily disagreeing with your psychoanalysis of the Butcher of the Balkans. However, this ain't just about Bill Clinton..."
Nor am I disagreeing with you. I want to see each and every one of these corrupt SOBs punished to the full extent of the law, every bit as much as you do.
I just don't think it's going to happen. And not necessarily because of any "spineless, gutless GOP". I believe these soulless people will escape, ironically, by cloaking themselves in the Constitution.
Bill Clinton should serve as an everlasting lesson to America and her children: thanks to our God-given freedom and the Constitution that guarantees them, we are the one people in history that is at liberty to vote ourselves into extinction.
"Bill Clinton should serve as an everlasting lesson to America and her children..."
A positive lesson only if he is held accountable for his rampant CRIMINAL activity. For if the Right drops this most noble cause--and the Rapist-in-Chief is allowed to walk out of the Oval Office unrepentant, unconvicted, and unabashed--we will have sacrificed our Constitutional Principles at the Altar of Political Expediency and Bill Clinton--and the Next Wanna-Be Tyrant--will be ever more dangerous!!
After surrendering that, is not our "God-given freedom and the Constitution that guarantees them" the next principles to become "extinct"?!

Bump for your reply #64. Very well-put.
Good call, JimRob. What we can't let happen is what I'm smelling from that Bush remark - a pardon!
Maybe 'birds of a feather'....?
Hey, mikeb704, sure got a good looking web-site, and alright Michael gets to row that boat ashore, George needs a lot of help.
One of the things that has kept me off the big Bush push is this thread from a few weeks ago: Bush Won't Dwell On Clinton Affair, "We're Moving Forward"
Ok, Ok, Ok, I know it may be election rhetoric, and he is saying it to 'get votes'. This is definitely saying the WRONG thing to get my vote. I am really concerned that W is going to pardon the rapist, "for the good of the country".

You and me both...my Lust Fer Justice regarding the Rapist-in-Chief is not based on my disdain for Bill Clinton, but on my respect for the Rule of Law, Equal Justice, and the National Security. If we fail to seek justice for the Clinton Treason, we will rue the day as the next Tyrant will be even worse. PKM knows folks who can get the word to Dubyuh, and I think it's extremely important that we make it known that to ignore the crimes committed by the Clinton Cadre of Communist Co-Conspirators is to accept--and condone--anti-American activities. I am absolutely in agreement with your concerns regarding this issue, and it is critically important for us to make sure this timidity is abandoned in the General Election.

AGAIN, by not vociferously holding this administration to accound BUSH again shows his lack of Will and Principle! And also shows again that the Republicans are complicite in the leftward direction america contiues to head... Keep admiring the would be emporer, I clearly see he has no clothes.
I can't say I have a crystal ball into George W's mind on this, but I do think there is strong evidence that he is really of two minds on this issue. And on this I think we can see the influence of both his parents. In regard to his treatment of Clinton I think he has shown a strong inclination to follow the lead of his father. Ann Coulter noted yesterday:
The problem with Bush's father was that he belonged to an older generation of patrician Republicans who never wanted to insult the other guy. This may be the preferred method of reasonable discussion in the more exclusive clubs, but it was a little frustrating for Republicans in the rest of the country to be forced to watch the elder Bush reject "negative campaigning" and character issues in a campaign against Bill Clinton. Clinton had a "War Room"; Bush Sr. had "Robert's Rules of Order."
While the elder Bush had to be coached to attack, you get the feeling that W has to be coached to stop attacking. (for the article click here).
But I really do think in his stomach there is an incredibly strong loathing for Clinton. I think this is really one of is motivations for running. I do think this "fiery" side will help him as the race gets tighter with Gore (and probably a lot of this comes from his Mom). Reuters reported yesterday:
Publicly, George W. Bush has insisted he has no political axes to grind. Privately, the Texas governor is itching for the fight against Al Gore. (For the article click here).
In sum, I don't think he has any love for Clinton, I just think he's keeping his powder dry until he's in a position to really blast him good.
Let the record show that Sen. McCain voted to CONVICT the jerk on both charges.
George "let's move on" Bush said nothing.
"We demand a thorough investigation and prosecution."
Yes, but if we do not wait until after the election to start the investigation and prosecution, it will not happen. We must be patient. First things first. GWB must be elected first.
If Dubya wins, there will be no investigation. Why? Because the Bush's are just the right tentacle of the Octupus. They will make sure that the left tentacle gets off scot free.
Bush -- Clinton -- Mena -- CIA -- Jackson Stevens -- James Riadi -- BCCI -- Dubya
Funny how the Clintons and the Bushs share so many common interests, isn't it?
WAKE UP, PEOPLE! The election of Dubya just means more of the same!
You stated...."B/S, Mr Bush. Clinton is a criminal and a traitor. We demand a thorough investigation and prosecution."
I was looking over some old threads and came across this.I agree.
