The point I was trying to make, didn't do it very well, was that women are inundated with stories of gun violence. Many women are convinced that if you have a gun in the home it is far more likely to be used on a family member than on a perp.

I think you said it well. It's what the media has taught them, not limited to women either. IMO, we have to explain the facts to our friends, one at a time. If your friend thinks gun owners are demons (OK, a slight exageration), ask them to consider you, your values, and the fact that you are a gun owner. You're not a demon.

There are just some 911 operators who are useless and rude. Four years ago when my house was firebombed, I called 911, pretty much hysterical, because I thought my house was on fire. The damn operator said, 'Calm down or I won't send anyone to your house.' Stupid bitch. I just replied with a, 'what did you just say?' and she changed her tune.

That's my take, too, DO. A shotgun is a girl's best friend (although I still prefer a .38 S&W one-inch pistol).

I agree with both of you. And I believe a shotgun is a good weapon inside city limits, especially within an apartment. A thirty-eight can travel farther than is safe. An innocent is much more likely to be injured. However, the 38 is easier to carry and a good backup IMO. I realize there are exceptions to this. I don't currently own a shotgun.

I learned this years ago, and I may get flamed, but here goes: You shoot to kill. You don't shoot to maim. If you or your family are in a position to be shot or mortally injured, take that chest shot. It's about as easy to hit as the broadside of a barn if you've practiced.

I've never had to shoot a gun at anyone, nor do I expect to have to do that sort of a thing. But I'm prepared, and I hope I won't falter if that time comes.

There's nothing to debate. You don't point a gun at anyone unless it's time to kill them. And when you pull the trigger, that's what you try to do with all your ability. Wounding them, disabling them or any other bogus plan simply allows them to get off that last shot that may miss you and kill one of your kids. End it! Sort it out afterwards. At least you and your loved ones will live to fight another day.

BTW - Notice that the defendant "stole" the handgun?

Of course you and I have to wait 7-21 days to legally acquire our firearms....

Huh. I've heard of feelgood programs that issue cell phones to women that have restraining orders against the husband, boyfriend etc.

A suitable pistol and range time would be a better deterent, imho.

I think you made your point OK, I just didn't do a good job of making mine. I was agreeing with you! Too many women buy the BS that it's more dangerous to have a gun in your home than not. I prefer not to be a victim, that doesn't appeal to me.

All that's missing on that sign are some ten-ring target-practice shots. Maybe a handwritten note saying, "At 50 yards, in the dark."

No women should be without one for self defense. That's my take

Mine too!! I'll leave home without the old AmEx but NOT without my handgun!! Entirely too many crazies in this world for me to feel safe relying on the cops (who will tell you pretty darned quick that they can't protect you!).

Might I suggest Glaser Safety Slugs or some other form of low-penetration ammunition?

Mrs Ruth Price DIED HARD. Now it is Ronyale White of Chicago. Mayor Daley should be ashamed.

NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO GO WITHOUT A FIGHTING CHANCE.

Other women who know how Mrs. Price was lied too by the government false statements that 911 will protect you.

Bad guys don't live by the rules. Here is Mrs. Ruth Price story and I would think that you would agree she disagrees with this leftist extremist, anti-gun views. Here is Mrs. Price story. Another disarmed voice.

Mrs. Price speaks directly to the gun control extremists with a powerful message. Requires Audio setup, downloads in 30 seconds, however, well worth your wait for this message.

Women's talk about self defense.

From a woman's point of view

The best news link on the planet for self defense.

Who needs protection? The women of our lives, and our children, the poor who have little police protection, our grandparents, and parents, our wife, and our daughters need the right to self-defense at home and on the street. 2.2 million felons in jail, 3.5 million felons on probation, and 14 million drug abusers looking for their next fix. Do you think they are living in your city? Guns save lives. Gun free zones are killing zones for criminals. Most anti gun liberals are one mugging away from conservative views.

Dail 911 and die is more than a cute saying. It is life or death.

The actual 911 call is Mrs Price voice. Take this recording to every MMM and anti gun rally in the nation. Perhaps the MMM anti guns will be the next Mrs Price.

Another Mrs Price story in Columbus OHIO -- Dialed 911 and Died.

Mrs. Turner's story. Restraining orders, Killer telling police he was going to kill her, begging for life for several minutes, nor did phone call to 911 save this woman's life.

I think the gun was his but he reported it stolen earlier, probably to avoid losing it due to the protection order (Investigators said they think the gun was the same gun Drexel had reported stolen in early April. ). He could have gotten a gun illegally in minutes in Chicago though.

Proves the same point, these laws don't deter criminals.
