Maybe he just wants him out of the country? Sugar catches more flies than... etc. etc....

Bush must know he doesn't have to do this.

I think his handlers feel that conservatives will flock back to him when they see whom he is running against...prolly someone like Hillary Clinton.

I agree. They are so used to "if you don't vote for him a Dim will get elected" that it may be their prime political strategy.

Would you hold your nose and vote for Bush if Hillary was his opponant?

No,I won't.If the Republicans want me to vote for them, they should try running a actual Republican for office. No more Bubba Bush's or Giddy Dolt's for me.

I would not, but I think many people would. That is what they are counting on, IMO.

I agree again. I really think they are going to be fooled this time, though. They have worn this out.

Clinton used Carter in Haiti. That's true but they probably agreed on a whole host of foreign policy decisions. I didn't think that was the case with Bush and Clinton.

And people who think Clinton won't milk this and the press won't cover it are off their rockers. The press loves Clinton. They will cover every second of it.

Regardless, I do not agree with Bush on this AT ALL.

Nor do I, rintense, nor do I. This makes no sense.

If you want to blame somebody, blame Congress for not removing him, not Bush for dealing with him as he would any ex President, after all Clinton who was elected by the American people for two terms.

SPIN SPIN SPIN. The FACT is that Ashcroft is not even investigating the crimes the Clinton's and their associates committed. ONLY Ashcroft has the power to do this the way it is supposed to be done. Congress never did have any real power to hold not only Clinton but all his criminal supporters accountable for the CRIMES they committed. ONLY Ashcroft has that power and he's sitting on his rear end doing NOTHING. Well in my book, that makes this Bush's fault and noone elses. NO EXCUSES.

The only possible explanation would be a trap to catch him getting money from Riady, but even Clinton wouldn't be that stupid.

Bubba will be flying on official US gooberment aircraft, and will be landing and taking off from military airfields. He could bring back a van full of $100 bills and there is no way in hell anybody in Customs is going to bust him. That is assuming a Customs agent will even be allowed within 5 miles of him.

Administration officials say the motivation to send Clinton was to convey a message of "no hard feelings" toward his administration.

Egads, I think I am going to be sick.

The press will just fawn over him

In East Timor? LOL. They didn't even cover that hellhole when fighting was going on.

Hey, listen, for those of us who hate the guy , any kind of exposure for the guy is irritating. But, really, this "assignment" is like a cruel joke.. Hey Bubba.. they need you over in East Timor!! Hahaha...

and ex-Presidents are sent on these kind of missions all the time.

And how many of them have been disbarred lawyers who have been impeached?

Presidents have rarely tapped predecessors from another party for official missions, even largely ceremonial ones such as this trip.

Of course, the article then goes on to say that Clinton sent Bush41 to two places to attend funerals. In any event, IMHO, this was a very inappropriate move on the part of the Bush administration. Sort of like a frat boy trick. Hate to say it but that's my take on it.

Well, I don't understand it, but remembering that there is always a reason, I will wait and see. I have learned that first of all you have to find out if this is the TRUTH, or just another helpful leak from Clintonistas.

Good point, Miss Marple. This may not be as it seems. It is always wise to wait for the truth.

In the mean time, I'm off this thread. There are reasonable concerns for sure, but I'm not subjecting myself to the wholesale bashing of the hateful nasty ones that goes on in places like this. It's not worth sorting through the garbage to find the intelligent comments on either side.

"The press loves Clinton. They will cover every second of it"

I hope they do, He is not going to be well recieved in East Timor. I bet he will turn down the offer for this reason and it will make him look petty. This could be interesting :-). In any case, I could care less about him going to a parade in East Timor. Now if Bush asked him to go to Israel, I might consider joining the others who are now going to vote for Hillary

Fine... you are entitled to your opinion. Griping to me won't change anything. Call the White House and let them know how unhappy you are.

I think Bush had 4 choices of what to do with Clinton.

You forgot the most important choice.

5. INVESTIGATE AND PROSECUTE Clinton (and his associates) for the crimes they committed the last nine years.
