Pilots with guns scare ABC s Cokie Roberts (Idiot Alert!)
Media Research Center ^

Pilots with guns scare ABC’s Cokie Roberts because “airplanes is one of the few places I feel safe from guns. Having some pilot who’s gone off his nut for some reason running around with a gun does not make me feel safe.” This Week co-host Sam Donaldson stood with Roberts against guns, even when pressed by George Will about whether he wished the pilots had guns on September 11th.

During the roundtable segment on the May 5 This Week with, for now, Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts, Donaldson raised how commercial airline pilots have signed a petition to allow them to carry guns in the cockpit.

The prospect horrified Roberts, who denounced the idea: “I don’t feel safer. Airplanes is one of the few places I feel safe from guns. Having some pilot who’s gone off his nut for some reason running around with a gun does not make me feel safe.” George Stephanopoulos, the future solo host of the program, pointed out: “That’s always a danger. That person is always in control of the plane and could fly it into the ground if he wants to...”

George Will quipped: “It is the case, I think, that support for pilots being armed increases as people have more and more experience with so-called airport security.”

Will soon asked Donaldson: “Do you or do you not wish the pilots on September 11th had been armed? Yes or no Sam.” Donaldson: “Well I wish that somebody-” Will: “That’s not a yes or a no.” Donaldson: “Well, when I asked Secretary Powell for a yes or a no question we heard two or three minutes and I and I’m happy to do it.” Will: “The prosecution rests.” Roberts interjected: “Suppose the hijackers had pulled the gun out of the pilot’s hand if the pilot had a gun?” Donaldson came to Roberts’ side: “I don’t know whether it would have made any difference. If it could have made a difference of course you would want it to happen. But I think, in the long run, guns in the cockpit are not a good idea. I join Cokie.”

LOL! I know what you mean.
However, I sometimes read them and wonder if I have just dropped into the Twilight Zone. It is so hard to believe that people really think this way!
Or maybe that is the problem........they don't think!

There are literally millions of people, all over the country, who are walking the streets, as we speak, carrying guns. They are called cops. Does that make her nervous? No. They make her feel safe.

Apparently, Cokie thinks pilots are an unstable lot...and shouldn't have access to guns. Logic escapes this woman.

But I save my wrath and loathing for the networks that hire these airheads. It's an indication of their opinion, that the people in the country have the IQ of a flatworm.

But you see, it is part of the Liberal Mantra that the mere presence of a GUN will cause totally sane and normal people to go totally berzerk. They sincerely believe that the gun is a magical device that can becloud the minds of even the most trustworthy of people, leap into the unwilling hand of the formerly peaceful person and turn him into a homicidal maniac mass murderer. This unique power is obviously responsible for all gun deaths in the world.

"'Course some pilot who's gone off his nut being at the controls of the plane doesn't bother her feeling of safety. The solution, of course, is to not allow any pilots on the plane either. Then Cokie can feel perfectly safe. Sam Donaldson can fly it."

I've got an even better idea...

There are up to 400 people on a jumbo jet... and only TWO pilots. This is inherently unfair and unDemocratic. In addition, the pilot was probably not selected for the position in an unbiased manner; most likely the pilot was probably selected by biased testing using criteria that are unfairly slanted toward people with high IQs, experience, and money to pay for flying lessons! Certainly, all people who want to pilot a Jumbo Jet should get an equal shot at it... Where, afterall, are the blind pilots and others who were unable to pass that biased test? I was told that only people who speak English can pilot Jumbo Jets and that is obviously discriminatory!

The passengers should popularly elect one of their own to pilot the plane... or perhaps a committee, made up of members of every ethnic, racial, gender, sexual orientation and age genographic, should be in charge of piloting the plane.

There, that's the Democrat way!

"There is no toilet in the cockpit. What happens in the co-pilot goes to take a leak and is overtaken---allowing the terrorist access into the cockpit? "

I see a new market opening in the near future... Pilot Depends!

They can make them with little pink and blue pilot wings imprinted on them...

I watched this hillariously incompetent exchange when it aired.

Roberts and Donaldson are kneejerk lightweight nitwits.

How completely assinine to debate whether or not the pilots should've been armed on September 11th.

Three cheers for the effeminate liberal caucasian thought process.

Hip Hip!!

And Cokie had the nerve to criticize Bush's debating skills and "gravitas"?

Why do you think she is "retiring"? It's not because she wants to,you can be sure of that. All she has done her entire life is draw on the political connections she had growing up as a kid with both a mother and a father who were Dim congressmen. She gotten rich and powerful from doing this. If you watch the show next week, pay close attention to how skinny and stressed she looks. Her eyes would damn near glow in the dark, and her head seems to be shaking a lot lately. Something other than her normal stupidity is wrong with her.

BTW,she has lived in DC all her life, and knows nothing about normal Americans, guns,or anything else outside of DC. She and Goober used to play together in the Senate coat room when they were kids.

Cokie might have to "fly" there to bring her home. She does know that Air Marshalls are armed doesn't she?

She'll fly in a private jet. You don't really think people like her ride in the same airplanes as the common trash,do you? No way in HELL is she going to show up 3 hours early to just sit around.

Now we are seeing two more things emerge:

1) Liberals will never admit when they are wrong, and
2) Republicans are too stupid or they lack the backbone to capitalize on the situation and repudiate liberalism for once and for all.

Hey everyone! Let's play "Liberal-Think!" the game that's also an oxymoron!

I personally feel uncomfortable that millions upon millions of Americans are walking around with a weapon that perhaps could be the greatest threat to mankind conceivable. This weapons is readily available to every American. It can't be detected by metal detectors as it is easily concealable. It's fierce ability to rend flesh and vegetable matter is chilling to PETA and Vegan-rights supporters everywhere.

I am of course referring to the human incisor tooth. These things are everywhere people. Every single right-wing extremist conservative is potentially armed with a set of these things, people! You and your children are at risk!

A comprehensive registration and confiscation intiative needs to be started. It's for the public good and for the sake of our children that every set of incisor teeth is registered and then confiscated. You never know when someone is going to go off their nut and start a rampage of ivory induced mahem and death. If you're frightened I can tell you now you're not frightened enough!

Helen Thomas questioning Ari Fleischer at a recent press conference.

It's true that some of our public servants can be trusted to wield such responsibility, but the majority of citizens must be protected from themselves. Write your congressman today and let him know how you feel about the "Incisor Threat"! It's for the children...

Once the left makes everyone have their teeth extracted "for the children," someone will tell them about the poor woman in England was was head-butted to steal her chips.

When I think of these people, I am reminded of the bumper sticker: "Save the Planet. Kill Yourself."

I saw her dreadful rant on Sunday.

The woman(?) is a loser.

The marriage might be heading south or she is off her medication.

She hates firearms and would rather whimper in her first-class seat as the plane roars into a building.

Cokie's been-a-coking for too long. Donaldson is a first-class bed-wetter... emasculated and true example of what American males have become

I will take his scalp with one swipe... count coup... the glue might be strong... but so is my grip.
