The WHCA represents the White House press corps in its dealings with the administration on coverage-related issues.

A nine-member board of directors, elected by correspondents, addresses access to the chief executive; coverage arrangements; work space arrangements; logistics and costs for press travel to accompany a president on the road.

The WHCA also holds an annual dinner. The 2002 dinner will be held on May 4 at 9:30pm on C-Span. Drew Carey is the featured entertainment.

Actually, I thought the President was not as relaxed as usual. I got the feeling something was on his mind and it wasn't this dinner. He was very good, but not his usual playful self. I also noticed that as soon as the evening was over - before anyone got up to leave, that Condi Rice was making a beeline out of the place and looking very serious - this was when everyone was asked to wait while the Pres and VP left.

I think their minds were elsewhere tonight. Just a gut feeling.

i still don't get that union. mary matalin has made a pact with the devil. it's more than politics--it's a life view, philosophy, the whole of who you are inside. how can mm live with that? it makes me question who she really is inside.

I noticed that he seemed a little strained too. Wonderful performance but something. Funny we sense things with them. More than anything he was probably counting the minutes until he could leave.

Well ... I can do ya one better - I use MS's ME and I can set my "picture" directory as my screen saver - that way I get to see all the pictures I have saved. I even have some of the WTC which I like to see over and over - so I will never forget.

It may be the intense negotiations going on over The Church of the Nativity in Israel right now. Word on the tube is that the U.S. is the main negotiator of the deal and it's down to the 11th hour. They want this done before Sunday, (Orthodox Easter).
