I don't understand, if those men are in British/US custody, how can Arafart release them?

He can take them by force of arms.

MSNBC is the least reliable network on TV. They thrive on reporting sensational rumors, and many people here want to believe they're true.

I don't think these terrorists are in UK/US custody. The UK/US personnel are merely watching the Pal jailers. Revolving door is still in effect. US credibility is zilch.

Arafat: "I am General Arafat.
We will do what we want.
To murder Jews and Americans
freely without any past, present or future accountability.

To: Democrats are liars
Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat said Friday that two senior Palestinian officials who had been besieged with in his office have now been released from British custody in Jericho where they had been taken with four men who carried out the murder of an Israeli cabinet minister.

"They are sitting in an office like me and you-honored and respected-and they have complete freedom of movement," said Arafat in an exclusive interview with Arab Satellite television channel Al-Jazeera.

So in other words, our guys are idiots and Arafat is (yet again) a liar.

It is impossible to deal with Arafat. He should be killed immediately.

Arafat would be dead or in exile today except for one thing: Bush made Sharon promise that he wouldn't bring Arafat to justice (harm or remove him). Colon told Bush this was essential.

They took out quite a few bomb factories. But because we're forcing the IDF out of Pal areas, they'll be rebuilt. A wall needs to be build, a very tall wall.

Where is this in the news? I wonder why this hasn't hit the headlines yet? It may be that Arafat is testing the waters before actually going forward with his plan.

I think IDF snipers do work the Sabbath.

Although the IDF isn't ten feet tall and I don't think holds a candle to the U.S. Marines, these snipers have been doing an outstanding job of just killing fighters, not Christians.

Yes. The only successful suicide bomber since then was from Hebron, which was not included in the original operation. Then they went into Hebron for a few days, and since then, so far, so good.

Here's a thread that was posted early this morning by kattracks:

U.S., Arafat Spat Over Prisoner Deal New York Daily News | 5/04/02 | BRIAN KATES

Posted on 5/4/02 2:05 AM Pacific by kattracks

A dispute about the fate of two accused terrorists surrendered in the deal that ended the Israeli siege of Ramallah erupted yesterday after aides to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat said the U.S. promised to release the prisoners.

White House spokesman Richard Boucher denied that the release of Ahmed Saadat and Fuad Shobaki, both senior Palestinian officials, was part of the U.S.-brokered agreement that ended the siege of Arafat's headquarters Thursday. "The arrangement is to keep these people in custody," Boucher said.

Israel accuses Saadat of masterminding the assassination of Israeli Tourism Minister Rehavam Zeevi in October and says Shobaki financed a large shipment of weapons from Iran.

The two were among six surrendered by Arafat and placed in a Jericho jail under American and British supervision.

The controversy could complicate Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's meeting Tuesday with President Bush at the White House and compound concerns over Secretary of State Powell's plans for peace talks this summer.

As with all Mideast diplomacy, there are many complications.

Sharon has sworn not to negotiate with Arafat and is expected to tell Bush when they meet that Israel will not hold talks until after violence has stopped.

He also is expected to present his own peace plan based on a long-term interim agreement with the Palestinians.

Arafat is expected to travel to Egypt to meet with Arab leaders, including Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, who conferred with Bush last week on a peace strategy. It was not clear, however, whether Sharon would allow Arafat back into the West Bank — especially if any terror attacks occur while he is gone.

But Arafat welcomed Powell's peace conference, saying Palestinians would "consult all the brethren Arab leaders over this conference before it convenes."

A time and place for the talks has not been set.

The UK/US personel are there merely to 'monitor' the Palestinians incarceration

FWIW, someone expanded on this a bit on Fox the other day: these "monitors" are not there to prevent escape, only to "report" the escape. They even speculated that the US "monitors" would not be military personnel, or CIA, but "State Department" personnel, and would most probably be "unarmed."

Thought: just as the UN personnel in the Pali camps are 90% Palestinian, perhaps the State Department has contracted out to the Palis for this assignment...

An Israeli checkpoint is 5 minutes away from the Jerico jail and Israeli sighters can observe the jail from hilltops surrounding it. I'm if these two are released, the Israelis will know where they went, and hopefully, whack them!

I know what the U.S. will do: As always it will cover Arafat's backside by saying that "violence" should not ensue from this and more "negotiation" will be needed. The U.S. support for Arafat and his terrorists makes me sick -- and somewhat disgusted by the Administration I voted for.

Someone explain to me the difference between Bush's policy regarding Palestinian terrorists and Clinton's policy?

What's next? Is Laura going to go to France to kiss Arafat's wife?
