They have found about 8 pipebombs in rural mailboxes in Scott and Cedar Rapids Counties in Iowa and Carroll (can't remember the others) in Illinois.
People are cautioned not to open their mailboxes. One bomb has been defused so far and one woman slightly injured.
They are looking for the perps and don't know if it is connected to terrorism.
Will update as more news comes out.

Just pipe bombs as far as they know. Until they get a handle on it, they are advising people not to use mail drop boxes and to check any packages.
I don't know how people will know not to open their rural mailboxes if they aren't listening to local radio.

I have to get off for about 1/2 hour. qctimes.com has info on their website; hopefully they will keep it updating it as more info comes in.
Will keep you posted as I am able.
Be careful with packages. If it looks strange don't try to open it.

Hey, I just went to a Quad Cities TV station & found it. If I couldn't find it in Illinois, I was off to Iowa--then to the newspapers (I use ecola.com or newsdirectory.com).
I just hope everyone's safe & the injured postal worker is not badly hurt. Given the times, this is NOT a joke.

A local nut job like Tim McVeigh in Oklahoma City?
To: Shermy
This would involve a LOT of driving for one kook.
One of my co-workers (EMT/fireman) heard something over the scanner, and says that Jo Daviess (IL) Co. is included.

Fox just announced this....
