They have found about 8 pipebombs in rural mailboxes in Scott and Cedar Rapids Counties in Iowa and Carroll (can't remember the others) in Illinois.
People are cautioned not to open their mailboxes. One bomb has been defused so far and one woman slightly injured.
They are looking for the perps and don't know if it is connected to terrorism.
Will update as more news comes out.

I live in Linn County, IA, and have a mailbox. It's 7:08PM and this is the FIRST I've heard of this. So weird. I had the radio on throughout the day as I drove here and there in my van, taking kids places, driving to and from work, etc. Can't figure out why this is the very first I know of this. Local authorities must be trying to keep it low key so folks don't panic.

I think a remote control mailbox door is whats needed here. You could carry one of those little transmitters on your key ring and punch a button while standing at a safe distance. I hope the wackos that planted these bombs are caught pronto.

The Powers That Be (a high-ranking law enforcement officer and the governor) in Nebraska just announced that one of the pipe bombs in Nebraska was found with a note similar to the ones found in Iowa.
I wonder where & when the bomber's going to hit next. I'm just praying no one gets hurt or killed by this terrorist.
