O'Reilly Brings The Factor to Radio

Fox News Channel star Bill O'Reilly is not going into radio alone.

O'Reilly — who will host The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly beginning May 8 — will share the mike with "some very bright women" for the first few months of the show.

And if he likes one, she may become a permanent co-host, he suggested yesterday.

"We're going to bring in the feminine point of view," he said. "We're going to give them a shot and see how it works for us."

O'Reilly said he has invited Sen. Hillary Clinton to be his first co-host — but had not heard back yet.

The show will air from 3 to 5 p.m. on WOR Radio in New York and KABC in Los Angeles among others — pitting O'Reilly against his Fox colleague Sean Hannity, whose show airs at the same time.

"I told Hannity it's my job to make his life as miserable as possible in all areas," O'Reilly joked with reporters yesterday.

"It's a lot of fun in this business to go up against the best; we're going to do our program and he'll do what he does," O'Reilly said. "It's just healthy competition and all the pros know that.

"Nobody is brooding about it. I'll mock him and he'll mock me. It will be a very interesting scenario."

Elsewhere around the country, O'Reilly will be going up against Rush Limbaugh in most markets.

The Post reported last November that O'Reilly was preparing to launch a radio version of his top-rated TV show, The O'Reilly Factor.

"We didn't target anybody to go up against," O'Reilly said. "I talked to [Limbaugh's brother and agent] David Limbaugh for a good half hour and told him that if Rush had any problem with this, if I'm giving him any angst at all . . . and he said Rush had no problem at all.

"If we're half as successful as he is, we'll be pleased."

O'Reilly's radio show will originate from a radio studio at Fox News Channel. He says the show will include listener phone calls and e-mails.

O'Reilly also said his radio show will be "a natural extension" of his nightly TV show.

"It's not going to be a political show — we're going to take the hottest story from The O'Reilly Factor and get everybody in the country and work to get in their views," O'Reilly said.

"It's a melding of radio and TV in the best possible way with immediacy," he said. "It's going to be an entertaining, informative two hours. We'll keep it moving quickly — and we're not going to take ourselves all that seriously."

Westwood One president Joel Hollander said he hopes "to have close to 100 affiliates" for O'Reilly's show by May.

"We really expect this to spread pretty quickly," Hollander said.

Fox News Channel is owned by News Corp., which also owns The New York Post and foxnews.com

This show will last about as long as Mario's failed attempt at radio lasted - NOT LONG! New Yorker's will listen to Sean Hannity over this moron, and the rest of the country will be listening to Rush.

The only affiliates O'Reilly will pick-up, will be in those liberal markets where the liberal station want to try to disrupt the 'Limbaugh Express!' WON'T HAPPEN - GONE BY YEAR END!

You're wrong. Your so-called "Limbaugh Express" of Bush-bashing is about to go off the tracks. Rush is now vulnerable to all types of competition.

Personally, I believe the listeners will be the winners in this game. Rush has put me off more than once with his golf game and cigars. He gets soft and lazy. More than one has turned his show off for these and other reasons.

Now, however, Rush will have some real competition. Won't be able to wander off in his self-aggrandizing reveries and maintain his audience. He'll have to have more substance (do real work). Perhaps we'll get to see Rush at his satirical best. That ain't bad. .

O'Reilly? He'll stir the pot awhile. I don't believe he'll translate well into radio. But think what the competition might bring if I'm wrong!

AND O'Reilly is, by no stretch of the imagination, BORING and REPETITIOUS. I don't pretend to understand why Rush bashes Bush. I don't like it either.

You're right. The listeners will be the winners. The ditto-heads will have a rude awakening when O'Reilly's ratings come out because a large part of Rush's former audience CANNOT TOLERATE his relentless Bush-bashing.

Hope he doesn't bring on that Arthelle Neville bimbo who used to be on his TV show.

I actually liked her a lot, though I'd never watch her strictly for news or information. Of course, I'm a guy...

#19Agree with your take on OReilly. An ill-informed, self-aggrandizing, opportunistic blowhard.

What you're saying about O'Reilly and his new show actually applies to Rush Limbaugh because of his never-ending Bush-bashing.

What a great line and I have just added a little bit here to your line: Damn, I wish he was going to do politics since Rush stopped talking about them after he joined BIBI's IDF.

Limbaugh's "Bush bashing" is simply him voicing an opinion, which we can agree or disagree with -- nobody can be proven right or wrong on these. OReilly comes out with some blatant factual misstatements that come of shallow research. They can be shown empirically to be untrue. By way of example, I would cite his insufficient familiarity with Middle East history, which does not prevent him from pontificating as if he knew what he was talking about.

I wish him luck against the Bush Bashing Rush, but he is not a conservative.

However, I agree with all that you have to say about Rush! I haven't listened to him for weeks. My older son is working off his Rush addiction. He only listens to Rush, when he is not whining nor bitching about GW. That works out to about 5-10 minutes of air time each day, and that is on a good day.

Rush is so obsessed with the mideast, he`s getting to be boring. He treats BiBi as the worlds greatest statesman all the while never mentioning that BiBi got canned by the Israeli voters and almost went to jail for selling influence. I blame Marta.

Rush's daily three hours of repetitive Bush-bashing have weakened him. Many of his once-faithful audience have moved on. BTY, O'Reilly has academic credentials, while Rush has none.

It's not a perfect world, and we can't have a perfectly conservative president or talk show host. (Rush thinks he is one, but his days are numbered.) O'Reilly has a sense of right and wrong, and he will add to the discussion. I especially appreciate that he's willing to give our president a chance.

O'Reilly does have a sense of right and wrong in most of his interviews.

I wonder how much audience that Rush has lost with his constant whining and bashing GW. I can't believe the people out here that he has lost.

I used to turn him off when he droned on about golf. Golf to me is like watching my back yard grow. Then hearing it from Rush was too much on the radio.

Then I turned him off when he complained about our military pilots not getting killed in Clintoon's Wag the Dog.

Then I turned him off when he would defend Bill Maher trying to tie Maher into the point above re our pilots. Maher is just a left wing clymer who hates our military and America.

I turned him off when he insulted our Super Bowl Winners and he became Super Bowl Whinner! His arrogance there was like that of a spoiled liberal elite.

Then, I turned him off when he moaned and whined about CFR and made this into a life or death situation.

Then, what you have been posting about re his Bush Bashing finally did it for me and what was going on in Israel. I think that his inner implant is making him into a LewRockNut combined with Snarling Possum Kristol with Bill Bennett coaching this hideous cloning of losers claiming to be a conservative.

Last but not least, I don't need him for the real news. I get it from the same place that he gets it, Free Republic! Then I have the real news without the Bravo Sierra that Rush has been blending in this year.

IMHO, Rush is no longer relevant......however, if O'Reilly thinks he's going to get listeners by having Hilary as a cohost he is dreaming.

The fact that O'Reilly was willing to tell an outright lie about planning a radio show tells me all I need to know about the man.

There is also a statement saying he discussed his program with David Limbaugh and got his approval............ppppppuuuuuullllleeeeeezzzzzzzze

I have never listened to Rush for 3 straight hours. I find him too one-note and my attention span is not that tight. I like each of the 3 hours to be different focused. I usually prefer Laura Ingraham (repeated here at that hour) or Dennis Prager, because each have excellent guests with a lot of expertise.

As for academic credentials, I say this as a PhD myself, but they don't impress me. Just look at the universities and see what this brains trust has produced there. It's the biggest uncovered scandal in the nation -- every new generation that comes along, subjected to the influence of tenured, postmodernist, leftist, America-hating, Vietnam protest era ideologues, all with "academic credentials." Parents don't know that they're paying tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of dollars to have their children's minds turned to mush. Academic credentials indeed. As Prager says, the more academic credentials they have, the less common sense and moral compass they have.

I do not apply these comments to OReilly necessarily -- I don't put him in the same boat as the country's professorial scum. I just find his research very sketchy, which is ok if he admits it, but he puts himself out there as an expert in everything and he just is not.

It's always funny when it seems like some of the same people who used to complain about Rush being in Bush's pocket, are now complaining about Bush-bashing.

Is Marta connected to this new insanity of Rush's. He is losing audience out here in N. Kali in a big time manner.

Rush does not understand that BiBi is not in charge. The man in charge is Ariel Sharon.

Bibi will have his turn if he gets elected!

Amazing that the left wing maggots could not do Rush in. He is now doing himself in with his whinning and preaching and trashing our president. Screw him by not listening to him!

Then after a couple of hundred thousand $'s and about 10 to 12 years of what you cite, these students can get a Phd and be on the other end of the cycle/scandal! They will be the professors.

The amazen thing about the "new Rush" is that he always used to be able to see the big picture. No more. He is so anti Bush, Pro Israel that I understand that his show is the #2 rated show in Bagdad
