AFVetGal, how exciting to see you the topic of todays thread. Now I know more about you. I'm very proud of you and I'm honored to know you as a friend.

Sorry to be such a drag of a friend, but I'm so tired and sleepy, I can't bring myself to post. I come in here to check messages and by the time I've finished reading (only a few), I want to go back to bed again. Plus, I've got to save my energy to school my kids. I've almost got everything unpacked though. :)

Love you all. Have a great Friday. I'll drink more coffee and try to come back later. We may be going to the beach today. :)

Oh my goodness, Bunny, you did a great job with today's thread. I am honored (and just a teensy bit embarrassed...) to be the first featured on Freeper Friday at the USO Canteen FReeper Style! I think this is a great idea and I can't wait to see all the others who are featured here. Thank you my friend for all you do for FR and our military, veterans and their loved ones. I appreciate you so much! -Jen

Good morning, Snow Bunny, & good morning, ALL!

A very good friend of mine at work told me today that her father, a WW2 Marine Veteran, has been taken off of chemotheraphy because it isn't helping any more.

He has prostate cancer.

I ask for all our brothers & sisters here at the Canteen to offer a prayer or two for this hero, one of our brothers.

His name is George E. Mesiar.

He was a Lance Corporal in the Marines, 3rd Division during WWII. He fought in several campaigns in the South Pacific. They were - Iwo Jima, Bouganville,Guadacanal, and Guam.

Please join us in prayers.

Hello All, This is my first time in the canteen. I am Mama Bear's Mama. I was in high school during World War11 and used to go to the Veterans Hospital in Framingham, Mass. to visit the wounded servicemen who had been sent back from the front. I later married a career military man and moved with him wherever his orders took him, which was back and forth across the States and also overseas. I did this with Mama Bear and her brother in tow. I think I could write a book about my experiences!! Just thought I would stop by and say "hello" because Mama Bear talks about you all the time so I sort of feel that I know you.
