I started wearing my coke bottle lenses when I was almost 8. White cat glasses. It wasn't cool but I appreciated being able to see where I was walking. Heard all the nasty comments one could imagine...4 eyes...you get the idea. Got contacts when I was 18. When I was nearing 40 my optometrist brought up the reading glasses idea to go OVER my contacts. Oy! Finally decided to forgo living in denial and bought me a pair of reading glasses. They're wonderful. I sure give my family a good laugh when I'm wearing my eye glasses with my reading glasses over *those*. I look like a fly! Guess what I'm getting in May? Yep. Bifocals. It's heck getting old.
Actually, I love them .... there is a mid-distance (just beyond arm's length) where I don't need glasses at all .... everything at that distance was blurry with the bifocals ..... so the third section is just plain glass .... now I don't have to take the glasses off and put them back on so often ... :-)
