Posted on 04/29/2002 6:00:45 PM PDT by rintense

President Bush headed to the left coast today with stops in New Mexico and California. Bush addressed a crowd at the University of New Mexico saying that he will work to pass federal mental health parity legislation to eliminate disparites in the coverage of mental health benefits. The President then headed to Los Angeles where he made several stops before attending a fund raiser this evening. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

If you haven't been back lately you should see St. Paul. Norm Coleman did an unbelieveable job cleaning up that city. He brought in lots of businesses and brought pro-hockey back to MN. And, unlike Jeffords, he switched from being a dem to a Republican BEFORE the election.

The polls around here have Wellstone the socialist at about 42% and Coleman at 41%. A statistical dead-heat. Even better, the Green party, (can you say Nader), is talking about running a candidate for US Senate here this November. The Greens won two seats this past November on the Minneapolis City Council. That was a big deal around here, believe me.

Wellstone is getting scared. He's even dragging out his old green bus to campaign in again. One of the local talk show conservatives was laughing out loud today. He said that Wellstone, (who promised to only serve two terms), might as well hang a sign on the bus that says, "I lied". By drudging up that bus again he's going to remind people of his broken promise.

Yep. Edwards' son who died was also named "Wade". Smith grew up in my neighborhood. 'Saw his dad (Charlie) at the Log Cabin Barbeque in Albemarle several weeks ago.

Edwards' wife canNOT hold a candle to Laura Bush. He's so ambitious though that I wouldn't be surprised to hear that he had traded her in. (meow)

I like Pete Domenici, and I agree that elder Bush would have been better off with him. Dan Quayle always came across as the snot-nosed, yes-man kid. Maybe that was part of the media's fault, but personally I never liked the guy.

Your post made me realize I spelled the senator's name incorrectly; "Domenici" is indeed correct, not "Dominici." As I recall, I once got all OVER posters who repeatedly typed "Keys" rather than "Keyes," so in fairness, I should acknowledge my gaffe.

Pete could have fairly been charged with RINOism, and perhaps that's another reason why he was passed over in 1988. But it appears he's moved to the right of late, with ACU ratings in the 90s the past two years.

I see in his bio that he turns 70 in a week or so, and he seems to be carrying his years well as he runs for his sixth term this year, against what I gather is weak competition from the Dems. It does seem like he's been in the Senate forever, having been first elected at the age of 40.

With respect to Dan Quayle, I must say I like him, wish him well, and hope he resurfaces politically (why not a run against a certain Arizona Senator who has been less than popular hereabouts of late?). His treatment by the press was never fair, but life isn't fair, and the GOP brain trust should have seen it coming.

Hey, I have two terrific, really Conservative sons you should meet (18 and 20)! You're from PA, right? Just a hop, skip and a jump from here! Well, sort of....

btw, when did the book get there? The lady at the PO said it should be there by Monday.
Did it just get there today?

Good for you! Can I ask how old you are? My daughters are 17 & 18. I'm always interested in what people of your age are thinking.

**Well, actually... I may still need them for money and stuff... so... I oughta keep them around. **

Then start feeding them plenty of Ginko in their bran flakes now...so they won't fall into dementia and not be able to work. There's always gotta be a plan, kid.

Actually, from here to Ohio is longer than from here to Massachusetts... even though we're one state away.... *blinks* that's always confused me.
It came today.

Yes, of course you have to do the college thing first. That goes without saying. When you are all graduated you will be smart as a whip and ready to take the world by storm.

Let Clinton talk ..

Once a buffoon, always a buffoon.

The only problem with letting him talk is the media goes ga-ga over him. I swear Mara Liason was practically orgasmic over his return to Harlem last year!

I did manage to listen to Rush today and he was insinuated that it was odd that there are all these 'poor, poor, Powell' articles in the print news of late and then Clinton comes out praising Powell's efforts, etc. Don't know what it all means and neither does Rush but he found it interesting. ??
