Our Friend and fellow Freeper Budge Rhae has had an accident. He fell at work Tuesday, and compressed his L-1 Vertebrae. I'm sure my dear friend won't mind me posting a part of his e-mail to me.
"I fell at work last Tuesday and now have a compressed vertebre(?) at L1. I have to wear a brace, use a walker, and I am as depressed as I have ever been. Can't even eat, feel like everything is going to stick in my throat."
Oue Budge is a dear dear friend to many here at FreeRepublic. He could use some prayers and encouragement. Years ago, I fractured L-1 and L-2. What he is going through isn't fun. And your prayers and words of friendship will be greatly appreciated.
Many of you probably know him from the many FR get-togethers.

I don't kow about you, but all chairs should be built on BadJoe's model.
I had said I would post how I hurt my back, but just didn't, until now.
I'm a Wal-Mart greeter and during the warm season prefer the Garden Center entrance.
Many customers prefer to come in through the GC gate where I am posted. Unfortunately, the buggy pushers are only cocerned with bringing shopping carts to the front door, which is quite a distance from the GC gate.
As a service to my customers I would always gather shopping carts for them to use, which was always appreciated. That Tuesday (the 23rd of last month) I had gathered about 30 or so carts, but quickly ran out. I went on the parking lot, got about five of them and rather than trying to turn them from the rear of the short line I went to the front, which I often did. As I was pulling them the left hook slipped off and I fell flat on my backside on the bare concrete. Fortunately, I had the presence of mind not to try to get up on my own but lay there until the ambulance arrived.
I spoke to one of my doctors yesterday and he said I did the right thing.
After about a month, for some strange reason, pretty women started hitting on me wherever I went. It's been like that ever since I got the FReeper CReeper. I'm not making this up.
Budge, as a greeter, they'll be falling all over you so be careful. You won't be the one falling anymore. Hope you're feeling much better;^)

The prayers you sent us mean so much. Art is really a trooper. He has been really sick. He couldn't even fly his last mission. I'm not sure he will fly next week either.
The grandkids are with us for a little while. It is a horrendous time in their little lives. Hopefully, these few days (or whatever it takes) will help them to know everything is ok. We are trying to make their lives feel as normal as possible.
Little Kayla woke up in the night last night..and had VOMITIS PROJECTILE!!! She didn't want to wake us up.. so she went back to bed. When I got up this morning to get them ready for school.. she was standing there looking so meek and she said "um.. Grandma,.. something happened". I looked into the bathroom and gasped!! I'm not kidding .. it was everywhere!! I reassured her that it wasn't her fault.. that she was sick, and she NEVER had to worry about waking Grandma and Grandpa for ANYTHING.. EVER!!!
Grandpa.. (This explains what a treasure this man is.. because he isn't feeling well himself) cleaned the WALLS, FLOORS and took the rugs outside and hosed them off.
We are over the worst of it.. we had a few more incidents.. but I sure wish she had let me know so I could have comforted her. Broke our hearts!!
Little Tarryn was feeling sick last night.. but seems ok today. What they are going through is really tough for wee ones to understand. So, your prayers are very much appreciated.
Their Mommy and Daddy could use a ton of prayers right now too. And,.. of course.. Grandpa!!! I have never seen him this sick.. and for sooooo long!!!
But I had to take time to come to this thread.. because the message here..and the one Budge left today.. are so awesome. You are the wind beneath our wings!!!

Budge.. I'm so glad your feeling better!!! Gosh, hearing you talk about the good days and the bad days during your healing is sure bringing back memories. It's so strange how those bad days, where the muscles just scream at you and have a mind of their own.. just pop up!!! Things will be going so well.. then bam!!
At least you know those days will be there..and that they don't mean that anything is wrong.. just that your healing!! But.. ughhhhh!!! Thankfully, there are more good than bad!! And the bad get fewer and farther between.
BadJoe's chair will most certainly help your progress be faster. I'm so thankful that you have it.
It's just amazing..and BadJoe is a gift to us all!!! God Bless you BadJoe!!! We all love you!!!
BTW BadJoe,.. Art said to tell you he will be calling you in the near future. He has kind of had his hands full. :o)

Just a harried period in our lives right now. But life is a gift..and God is good. We just are so thankful that we have God in our lives through this time. We thank all of you for being "additional" gifts in our lives.

LOL! Fred, it has already started! The guys that work in the Garden Center were razzing me when a couple of the pretty ladies gave me hugs and kisses!
Doing much better today, I even go into work at noon for four hours.

I will give Wal-Mart credit, when I first started working for them over four years ago, they gave me permission to sit at the doors because of my handicap. Since most greeters are older folkss, all of the greeters at my store are now permitted to sit.
A greeter who works with me in the garden center has bad hip problems. I'm hoping BadJoe's magical FReeper CReeper will give him some aid and comfort too. We'll know in about a week!

I'm also adding your co-worker with the hip problems to my prayers. Pain is life changing. Thus the old "philosophical" saying...
Of course the little ones will remain in my prayers, as will you and Art.
After the few hours at work that I've put in so far, I found I just could not escape the pain, so I ordered another chair from BadJoe for work. Maybe I already mentioned that though.
I can hardly wait to get that chair to work, I just know Verlon will get relief from it. I'll tell him y'all have added him to your prayers too. He will certainly appreciate it!
