PMSNBC says 8 story building collapsed.
To: Slicksadick
PMSNBC is probably lying. I don't see a collapsed building on the TV.
To: monkeyshine
Turn it on again..you can see the debris on the left hand side of your screen.

LOL PMS lying? Ya think?
To: Slicksadick
Just a lot of blown out windows. This was Apex Technical School.
It could be some kind of lab explosion/electrical, but I can't help but think about all the immigrant students that come here from the mid east.
Nobody reported hurt, yet.

Yeah, I see the debris...
The collapse they are talking about on Fox is scaffolding that collapsed on Park Avenue?

They were referring to an earlier incident that occurred last month; not what happened today. A caller was clearing that up for FNC. "We report; you decide"..;-)

I'm now seeing gurneys coming in and out of the building....also, PSMNBC reporting that (duh) bomb squads are on site from various police departments.

Fox has a helicopter view. I just don't see the collapsed building. I see a lot of debris from blown out windows and windowframes, but the firetruck is on the street with the latter.
Just mentioned on Fox that one News Wire is reporting that it's NOT an explosion, but a partial building collapse (that I guess sounded like an explosion?).
To: DJ88
Why is this not on CNN.com?

(04-25) 08:58 PDT NEW YORK (AP) -- Part of an eight-story building housing a technical school collapsed Thursday on Manhattan's West Side.
Broadcast reports identified the school as Apex Technical School. The site is in the Chelsea neighborhood.
At least two people were carried out on stretchers and placed into ambulances.
To: alisasny
Apex has been around a long time. I remember watching their commercials and thinking I wasn't cut out for that type of work.

Fox now explaining that buildings in this area (called Chelsea) on 16th street between 6th and 7th avenues are older buildings, leaning towards the collapsed building theory.

Just mentioned on Fox that one News Wire is reporting that it's NOT an explosion, but a partial building collapse (that I guess sounded like an explosion?). I've heard rebar snap under stress. It has a very loud report.
