Never Forget our POW's MIA's
Graphics from Various sites put together by Snow Bunny

I hear them calling in the night
When my world is calm and quiet.

They speak to me in words I would not hear,
Yet their voices won't be silenced.

They beseech me with whispers.
Asking, 'why were we left?

They cannot understand.
The wind carries their questions.
The stars shine down as tears.
The moon becomes their faces.

And I have no answer worth speaking.

(c)1998 - Dennis Johnson

There are over 2000 American heroes, dead and alive, who haven't been brought home yet !

Since the war ended, over 10,000 reports received relating to Americans still unaccounted for in Indochina have convinced experts that hundreds of men are still alive, waiting for their country to rescue them. The notion that Americans are dying without hope in the hands of a long-ago enemy belies the idea that we left Vietnam with honor. It also signals that tens of thousands of lost lives were a frivolous waste of our best men.

I have many friends who served in Vietnam. Many that died there, many that died after they came home from Agent Orange.
I want to thank you ALL that served in Vietnam and ALL the Wars.

I pray each day for our POW’s and MIA’s that they will be brought home.

Thank you my Heroes for serving our land and for my Freedom, I owe you a GREAT debt.

THANK YOU Veterans from ALL our Wars !!!! You are my Warrior Heroes one and all !

Beautiful, Bunny - it certainly has your touch. And I think I saw these little pieces of your heart scattered here and there.

Forgetting is exactly what is happening. - Only those our age and older are even faintly aware of these men who have been abandoned.

There is an older couple that live around the corner from me who have a son MIA from 'nam. - It has destroyed their lives. - They have two flag poles in their front yard; one flies the American flag, the other flies the POW/MIA flag. - They must be better patriots than I am; I don't think that I would be flying the American flag every day if it was my son that Congress had abandoned over there.

Let's face it; Congress doesn't want them to come home, there's too much that they don't want revealed.

"Why them and not me?"

When a pilot didn't come back "Why him and not me?" was a near constant wail from each of the other pilots as the alcohol began to work its wonders. That's because "he" was always a "great guy," "a family man," "a trusted friend," and all the other qualities each of us wanted to be.

"Why them and not me?" is a near universal lament of those in combat who survived when friends didn't.

Thanks for posting the piece....

I was amazed to read a statistic about POWs and MIAs that showed a total of 78,000+ from World War II alone. Nobody ever hears about these anymore, let alone the ones from Vietnam.

Thanks for the ping. I don't agree with that, but the "Never Forget our POW's MIA's" (and KIAs and disabled too) message is too important to mess up the thread with a debate. You can keep pinging me, and I'm going to intrude with an old post I occasionally bring up, but which generates no interest or bumps. COLLISION AT SEA .

Might be the right thread.

You got it- when I have a little more time, maybe I'll tell you the little bit "more" I know about the story.

If I could make all things right, I would in a second.

But I can't.

I do respect our Vets and wish something could be done to bring home any living or dead Vietnam Vets.

I have my feelings about Vietnam but hold them back out of respect for the people who went over there believing we were there to make a difference and the many more who were forced over there through the draft.

It makes me sick seeing these fat ass politicians who do nothing except continue to sell us out as they get 30% pay raises for doing such a good job.

I know many people here on Free Republic support our Vets, but one of the last letters I got from the VFW said that only 3% of American's are helping our Vets with badly needed money.

I will never forget Them, and when the time comes as it surely will, I will defend my Constitution from enemies foriegn and Domestic.........

Yes, I agree but what I prefer to do is work hard for both. The veterans that came back and the POW MIA's.

I thank you for your post and for serving our country to keep me free.

They have two flag poles in their front yard; one flies the American flag, the other flies the POW/MIA flag.

i proudly and prominently fly both, and at night, they are lit with halogen.

another excellent post, snow bunny. thank you. and thanks, prayers,
and well wishes to all our service men, women, and veterans.
