I drove by the Capitol early and parked my assault SUV at the MCRGO building and went back to my place. I took my signs and met a few of the other MSU GOP and Young Americans for freedom members there. One of them had a giant US Flag and another had a flag with "DON'T TREAD ON ME" on it.
It then started up and we were up against some 60's activists(grey hair), some anarchists, commies, and the like. Suprisingly, they were actually somewhat peaceful. I suspect the nuts like that one jerk at the last rally was probably in DC. They had a "Stop US Oppression" flag, no American flags, stop "US" Imperialism, and some dummy wanted a world court.
One green party nut in his 50's was going nuts on the way there. He had a green "Stop US Imperialism" sign there. He got into an expletitive match with one of our guys there.
We didn't feel like walking to the capitol. It would look like we were with them instead of against them. So took a couple of cars to the capitol. One car passed them 5 times, honked their horn, and yelled at them. When we passed them, we flipped the one finger salute at them. (I know it's the low road, but it works - :))
They were a good 20-30 minute walk from the capitol, so we stopped at Kelly's Pub, and when we got out, the Communists were there. Someone there was campaigning for the Nazi Lyndon LaRouche.
Some of the signs featured on our side are Pick a Better Country - Move there, God Bless Capitalism, USA Kicks Ass, Taliban, Jihads only understand Force, Go Home Commie, USA, Give War a Chance, and Anti War = Pro Terror.
These jerks also disrupted a wedding there. There was a wedding at the capitol, and it was disturbed by the communists. When they were leaving, two of the Wedding Attendents gave us the thumbs up, and didn't have nice things to say about the jerks.
The speakers were spewing the usual commie stuff. They complained that the US owned most of the world. They complained about Bill Gates since he was a billionaire. They complained about Israeli's owning more than the Arabs there. They said "The Earth belongs to all of us". They bashed Monopoly. They proclaimed their support for the Columbia left wing rebels. They praised Hugo Chavez. They then had chants of "Free Palastine" and were yappin about Israeli oppression and the like.
There was not one US Flag among the bad guys there. Not one. We had two big ones, and we had about 8 people.
OH, BTW - There was one guy there in a military uniform....on the OTHER SIDE. He said he was inactive. He should be, permanantly. I think he bought a uniform at a second hand store or something. That's just pathetic.
Sounds like some of the babbling libertarians here.
LOL, sometimes you have to use their language to get the message through. Great report, thanks for sharing.
One woman there actually put signs on her dog. One of them said "DOGS AGAINST WAR" and the other was "WAR IS UNHEALTHY FOR DOGS". Some people just ain't right.
The sign says "END U.$. GLOBAL OPPRESSION" < /barf >
I apologize for the picture quality. A 640x480 pixel camera can only do so much.
What an umbelievably rude and insensitive thing to do! And I'm at a loss of words for the "dogs against war". LOL I guess it goes to show the west coast nuts are no more nuttier than the midwesterners!
Looks like you guys had a great time. May God bless you all!
(Just a little levity, Dan!)
Thank you. Here's another picture:
The old lady in the middle had "Blessed are the peacemakers" and other sayings written on that white sheet she's wearing. She talked with us after they finished the rally and she said that if someone came to kill her, she'd let them do it. She's probably in her seventies, but you hate to see somebody so lacking in a sense of self-preservation at any age.
We also talked to a guy who claimed to be a Catholic priest, but was neither affiliated with a specific church nor willing to give a straight answer on where he stood on abortion.
The guy on the right of the picture is holding one of the printed "BOYCOTT ISRAEL" signs.
