Rush's Constant Shilling for Isreal Has Led Me to Rome (Smack Off v. Bore Off)

For years, I kept the Rush Limbaugh Show on for three hours a day. Partly as background noise while I worked, but also for entertainment and information.
I always found Rush to be a bit more of a Republican than a Conservative, while I'm more of a bit more of a Conservative than a Republican. But most of the time we agreed, and even when we didn't - - I found him to be entertaining.
In recent weeks, Rush's show has become almost nonstop pro-Isreali propaganda. That would be fine, if it were not so boring.
In our area, there is no other political talk on the radio during this time slot.
Two weeks ago, I joined some of my other friends (also Rush defectors) and tuned into to sports talker Jim Rome.
I listened to the Smack Off today and found it somewhat entertaining.
Perhaps my addiction to politics has been broken.
Any clones out there?

Yes, and I find him the most entertaining conservative talk show host.
But, I don't trust all his sources, and I think he jumps ahead of the appearent facts too often. That minor lack of trustworthiness forces me to take him off my list.

Rush is ok GodBless but he takes far to much credit for the pubbie revolution in 94 when that was more the nra getting its people in under the radar in swing districts, he certainly hasn't said a word about the pubbie losses in 96,98, or 00. To be honest I don't think Rush likes Bush, I think Rush really longs for the days when clinton was there, so he blames bush for everything while turning a blind eye to the fact that Bush would need 11 democrats and all pubbies including Mccain in the senate to agree on his agenda in an election year if he spoke in tongues it wouldn't happen so why even try with him bother anymore.

Bush has to walk a very perilous tightrope here and Rush isn't helping matters one bit by causing doubts among Bush's conservative base about our Middle East policy. Most conservatives dont rely on Rush or anybody else for their opinion. Talking heads are useful for hearing viewpoints you dont here on mainstream broadcast media, and for reinforcing opinion you generally already have. Bush's policy from the beginning has been incoherent in the ME - hypocritical at worst, and requiring cynicism and grand scheme inventions from its defenders - at best.

Rush's constant banging on his desk caused me to turn him off for good.
It drives me crazy.

So, let me get this straight; you're a conservative but you don't listen to Rush Limbaugh because he talks about Israel too much and he doesn't talk enough about homosexuals? That it?
Lame.
Rush Limbaugh is one of the most effective and powerful voices we have for conservativism and the endless posts on these always-present FR 'Rush' threads are proof. I find it interesting that in your view and that of liberals and other Rush-bashers, a conservative fan of Rush is an 'apologist' for him but a 'conservative' that finds his focus on the Israel-Palestinian conflict, a conflict that could have serious ramifications for the United States, is simply 'bored' and suggests that many other Rush Limbaugh listeners may be too, then rummages around to find something about homosexuals intimidating Rush and now that's another reason he should be discredited. Sounds like you're getting a bit desperate for cover for your complaints about Limbaugh.
Again, nice try but a totally bogus attack on a man who's focused on what's important to America and Americans right now and I believe that is the source of your animus and so-called 'boredom' with Limbaugh.
He supports Israel.
You know, prehaps a serious, conservative political program is too much for you to handle, Phat. All that talk about war and stuff. Booooring, right? Stick and ball talk is probably more soothing for you and hey, Rush doesn't say much about homos so what good could he possibly be? Yeah, that's the ticket. Please.
This complaint is as predictable as it is unsubstantial and will have the same effect as all the rest I've seen over the years where Rush Limbaugh is concerned; Z-e-r-o. His audience is solid and growing.
Obviously any thread with Rush Limbaugh in the title will get a response but your complaints are typically weak and rather hollow. Rush is absolutely right on Israel and that is your problem with him, admit it or not.

Sorry to
"set you off" with my statement. I thought
"painting pictures with his microphone thingy" was a colorfully splashing description of how he uses words to describe the events, scenes, people, sights that shape our world so that his listeners can formulate in their minds how things appear. I meant he's not on tv relying on film to supplement his program hence his words create pictures.
Glad we agree that "Rush is a talented radio personality I usually agree with. Period." Ditto!

Rome is best on the 'greatest hits' reruns, sometimes he is listenable during the day.
Phil Hendrie is brilliant, I think he has completely turned the premise of talk radio on its ear..and the callers arguing with Phil are the best part!! It's like having 'Rita X' on every day.

Hey Harp,
No hard fellings here. "Set me off" was probably a little harsh.
He looks really hot in that cheata skin thong I bought him.
Now that is painting a picture with words!

"He looks really hot in that cheata skin thong I bought him." Now how can anybody argue with that! LOL!!!
One word worth 1000 pictures.
OK no hard feelings either, you are actually fun to toss words with.

The only reason I see Israel wants us tied so closely to her is to provide cover for what she does. We have enough hassle with the media and international organizations messing with our troops. We don't need to spend time explaining away Jenin or taking responsibility for it. 50 years down the line, we do not want Muslims worldwide to think this a Israeli/American operation against all Muslims.Well said.

When is the Kansas City 'tour stop?'I've heard Rome talk about it, but I don't recall the date.
To: Proud2BAmerican
My best friend was a regular caller (Steve from Los Alamitos), who later parlayed his frequent calling into an internship with the Rome show while he was attending LMU in Los Angeles. Steve was a frequent topic of conversation of Friday. He sounds like a very entertaining guy.

I too am tired of hearing about the stupid conflict. What is more, I'm tired about the war on terrorism. Has anyone ever considered that if we just quit giving buckets of money to Isreal, they would be forced to find peace for economic reasons? It's because of our constant support of Isreal that the twin towers WERE BOMBED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Limbaugh, and many other people here are like the frog in the boiling water; you're getting sucked into the conflict little by little and do not even realize it. Nothing positive will be accomplished, except preventing some of OUR fine servicemen from ever making it to retirement.

Just like FR lately - all Israel, all the time.Exactly, Rush claims he is an entertainer. But lately he has not been much of an entertainer. More of a not stop propagandist.

For what it's worth, last week I heard Rome rip the Dixie Chicks for what Maines said and called them the Chunks. LOL
