On SATURDAY, APRIL 20, 2002, tens of thousands of peace activists, workers, students, labor unionists, and others will converge in Washington, DC for a massive march on the White House to say: MONEY FOR JOBS AND EDUCATION NOT WAR! STOP THE RACIST ATTACKS! DEFEND CIVIL LIBERTIES AND CIVIL RIGHTS! **The April 20 national march on Washington against racism and war will be part of a week of mass actions. We call on people to join the National Colombia Mobilization April 19-22 ( http://www.soaw.org/colombiaMobilization.html).**
A.N.S.W.E.R. will also hold a simultaneous West Coast April 20th march in San Francisco. It will begin at 11 a.m. at Dolores Park, 19th & Dolores Sts., and at 12 noon march to the S.F. Civic Center for a 1 p.m. rally. We encourage people from all over the West to attend the San Francisco event.
International (A.N.S.W.E.R. Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) is a coalition that was formed in response to the headlong rush to war and racist attacks following the horrific events of September 11. A.N.S.W.E.R. has the support participation of more than 500 organizations and prominent individuals and has scores of organizing centers across the U.S. and around the world.

Civic Center Plaza is bounded by Larkin/McAllister/Polk (Carlton Goodlett Place)/and Grove. I think all the streets are two-way, except in front of City Hall (Carlton Goodlett). (I don't know if some streets restrict right or left turns.) Click the mapquest link and you can also get driving directions.
Apologies if you are receiving multiple bumps.
As a result I've changed my stance from "I might be there" to "I'll be there, unless I get a better offer."
NO JUSTICE - NO PEACE
Saturday 12 noon start time at city hall! I just heard a blurb that somebody sent to KSFO that it was at 1pm at the civic center, but let's concentrate our efforts at city hall at 12 noon and brace for the 1pm arrivals.
Stay tuned here for updates.
I don't listen to the radio much...has KSFO hyped the counter FReep much or has it been one short annoucement? Just kinda curious...
An interesting aside.....last weekend, a friend and I were at City Lights Bookstore (liberal lefty socialist store) in North Beach. We were commenting on all the Marxist literature. One boyish-looking woman overheard us and actually followed us down the street to a (liberal lefty socialist) coffee house and literally sat there for 20 minutes staring at us. Kinda weird. It was definitely not my imagination.
Hey, we must be on the same wavelength ~ #49 ~ I saw Snow Bunny's great graphic on another thread and was going to post it here.! LOL : ) So, thanks CCC...and thanks Snow Bunny! It's beautiful! : )
USA>>>USA>>>USA>>>!!!
VERY nice offer!
At the risk of being paranoid, this is an open group and all kinds are attracted. 99% are great, BUT there are some FReepers who I wouldn't want them to know where I live.
At several FReeps that I've been on, it would be charitable to describe one or two of the participants as WACKO NUT JOBS. So I open my house only to those I've previously meet and don't wear tin foil hats!
See you out there! : )
