On SATURDAY, APRIL 20, 2002, tens of thousands of peace activists, workers, students, labor unionists, and others will converge in Washington, DC for a massive march on the White House to say: MONEY FOR JOBS AND EDUCATION NOT WAR! STOP THE RACIST ATTACKS! DEFEND CIVIL LIBERTIES AND CIVIL RIGHTS! **The April 20 national march on Washington against racism and war will be part of a week of mass actions. We call on people to join the National Colombia Mobilization April 19-22 ( http://www.soaw.org/colombiaMobilization.html).**

A.N.S.W.E.R. will also hold a simultaneous West Coast April 20th march in San Francisco. It will begin at 11 a.m. at Dolores Park, 19th & Dolores Sts., and at 12 noon march to the S.F. Civic Center for a 1 p.m. rally. We encourage people from all over the West to attend the San Francisco event.

International (A.N.S.W.E.R. Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) is a coalition that was formed in response to the headlong rush to war and racist attacks following the horrific events of September 11. Folks: If we want to do this, we need to do it in MASS. We need a LOT of Freepers to make it worth our while. I went to the big rally these kooks had at Dolores Park on September 29. It was BIG. It practically filled the park. There were thousands, and every conceivable variant of the Left was there....free Mumia, no Bush War (I think this banner was leftover from the Gulf War), they even had a busload of "Vietnam Veterans against the War" (strange that they would serve their country in a dubious war, but protest against the US when there is a clear moral imperative). They had bands, and all kinds of noise going on, people selling stuff, you name it. It was more like a block party, street fair, or concert. This is the one thing the Left does well. I was virtually alone on Sept 29, except for a very brave young man whose voice I'd heard on KSFO the night before. Parking is HELLACIOUS. I think we should just focus on the Civic Center at noon. We need to coordinate with people from all over the Bay Area, and do it soon. If Freepers are serious about making an appearance, then I've got a few interested friends, three huge signs, and plenty of things to say on them. If we decide to make a go of this, then let's DO IT!! But we need to know ASAP. How much interest is out there? deeel-me-in

Seriously, I'll show if this is a major counter FReep. Remember the time KSFO got 5,000 to protest MTBE in Sacramento? It will need a lot of air play and I don't think KSFO wants to push it, although they will let callers highlight the event.

Hi deeel-me-in. Welcome to FR. Yes, this is a huge one for the Leftists, like you described. There may be just a few on our side, but, we few FReepers speak volumes! : ) And, BTW, of course the Media will be there, so it would be very good to show that the anti-America/anti-Israel ranters will not go unopposed here. So, all we can do is try to let people know, and hope that people feel strongly enough to show up and voice our side.

12 Noon sounds good, CCC. The lefists probably have a permit for the plaza, so, how does meeting on the City Hall steps sound to people? Wherever, we decide, will probably be somewhere on the perimeter of the Plaza, across a street.

I believe there is a garage under the Civic Center Plaza for parking, however I don't know regarding if it's open on Saturday.

BTW, deeel-me-in, there were a few of us at Delores Park, and one thing I learned, and all should be aware of....even though the police are out there, we each are responsible for our own safety. Even though, we all are supposed to be entitled to freedom of speech in America, there have been several incidences (Delores Park and at the Israel Consulate) where some on the opposing side speak their minds, but, have not shown the same courtesy to our side, and things occured that needn't have happened. So, FReepers please be aware and STAY SAFE!

Well I won't be available (I live in Texas). I recommend having some good visuals (less of the Statue Of Liberty giving the finger to Bin Laden and more posters of their abuses and connections).

The numbers on the pro-protest side are a union of anarchist-socialist leftist organizations. Listen to the left-end of the FM radio dial (Pacifica and others) to get a good understanding of their mindset.
