(CNSNews.com) - A pro-family group is threatening to sue a homosexual advocacy group that is calling on students to observe a "Day of Silence" to promote homosexuality in America's schools Wednesday.
The Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), is asking students to recognize and protest the plight of homosexual students by taking a vow of silence, even compiling a list of teachers, students and administrators who might oppose their efforts.
"This is an assault on our school system by terrorists," said Rabbi David Eidensohn, director of the National Non-Sectarian Council of Pro-Family Activists.
"The financial damage due to lost school time throughout the country will be enormous. We cannot, however, talk about money alone. The disruption of a school atmosphere, especially towards the end of the year, when discipline in schools is a challenge, could kill a year of learning for many students," Rabbi Eidensohn said.
"Precisely when students should be concentrating on finals, they are told by GLSEN homosexual activists to refuse to speak in class and to disrupt school with activism. Students who should be learning to get along with others are making a 'hit list' of teachers and students who are biblical or who refuse the homosexual agenda," he said.
Rabbi Eidensohn called on religious groups to immediately file for court orders of protection for children of "biblical inclinations" to protect them from "hate groups" who sponsor the Day of Silence.
"We must sue them immediately. We must demand compensation for every nickel of taxpayer money that was lost because of their campaign of agitation against the lawful school system," he concluded. "We must claim damages in lowered earning skills for all students who could not learn because of the homosexual activists and their disturbances."

I'd agree on the "terrorist" part, it's the first thing that jumps out from the article. It's becoming so overused to the point of taking all meaning out of the word. "Totalitarian," however, applies perfectly. This little exercise in raising political consciousness is right out of the diversity trainer's handbook - raise political consciousness while stifling political discourse. According to immigrants I know who've lived under PROC and Soviet rule, this type of thing was orchestrated regularly by the Party officers in charge of "political thought."
Here's the concern -- what started out as a simple student-lead event is now sponsored by a major GLBTP activist organization:
From their history page:
"2001 - Current - Day of Silence Project; still growing, still strong
Chris Tuttle, GLSENs National Student Organizer, Gilliam and Palenchar developed a proposal to provide the Day of Silence Project with new funding, staff, volunteers and an official organizational sponsor, GLSEN. To ensure its success, GLSEN developed a first-ever Day of Silence Project Advisory Board (which includes Pulzetti, Gilliam and Palenchar) to help build upon past successes, a Leadership Team of students to support high school organizers around the country and a partnership with the United States Student Association, to ensure colleges and universities receive equal support."

Ignore these kids while they are being silent. Don't call on them to answer questions. Don't call on them to give oral (not gonna go there... wouldn't be prudent) reports and such. And if they were scheduled to give one, fail them for it.
Following this advice, I can't see how some kid sitting at his/her/its desk being silent is much of a disturbance.
My point is that they are taking advantage of impressionable minds when they market their political views middle school children. They are attempting to desensitize the children to advance their cause. This is wrong.
My point is they should hold a ralley or event outside of the school system and we are free to not attend. Within the school system our children are captive. People could take their children out of school for the day but this isn't a one day event. Events like this are becoming the standard for the day.
And GLBT+P courses are now being required at some schools - here's an example:

What a revlotin' development!"
While it may be a stretch to call them "terrorist" or "totalitarian", I don't think it's inaccurate to classify them as ideologues. They are advancing an agenda driven by political dogma, and when they do it in a public school then what is going on is, by defenition, not education but indoctrination.
You are placing the responsibility on the organization. If the kids don't play along, the organization has zilch. Since you believe they are totalitarian, I guess they have forced the parents and the kids to go along in a mind trance hypnotic state. You and GLSEN should go outside and fight.
I agree with this statement.

Now you're making stuff up and twisting my words...Never have I said they are totalitarian. Their avenue to advance their agenda does not belong in the public school. They market it to school children and they publish pamphlets on how to advance it within the school system. This is wrong.
GLSEN can hold all the meetings they want, advertise anywhere they want, publish anything they want, they can pound sand, but targeting children is wrong.
Keep it out of the public schools.
Jim
Not a very good formula for the further glory of our nation.......sad, but true. We have to take our kids out of public school!
Anything that encourages the homosexuals and their fellow travelers to SHUT UP, even if only for a day, is a GOOD thing!
