Open America's borders now!!!!
Me | Now | Me

Posted on 04/06/2002 10:29:59 PM PST by paul544

I think America needs to open its borders to Mexico so that there is not even a border patrol. America is the land of opportunity and freedom. That should be the case for EVERYONE. Not just those that are citizens. There should be nothing seperating people from the opportunity that America offers. It is wrong not to share the wealth America has.

If they were available, America wouldn't exist today because it would have brought the lazy rather than the hardworking. Given that they weren't available, and an entirely different type of person came over here, your argument comparing present day Mexican immigrants to those coming from Europe in this country's early days is an apples / oranges comparison and has no bearing whatsoever. Are you really this blind or are you simply trolling for arguments?

Don't come to America

Besides when you're talking about Mexico ---it's in the Americas. It was also a European country that took an opportunity to come to the Americas. It isn't a different kind of land than the United States or Canada since it's part of the same land mass ---Mexico has better weather and more oil. It's up to the people there to make it a good country, like mine and other's ancestors did here.

I won't argue with that. But the same can be said about blacks. What people do with their lives is up to them. But to deny all because some or even most waste opportunity, is just wrong. Don't punish them all because of a few.

You're right: it's working now.

Although I swear it was down when I tried it the first time.

Uhhh no I'm not blind. But I'm not an ignorant racist either. So what you are saying is that the land you and I have made, modern America, is the kind of country that breeds lazyness and freeloaders?

The blacks are an entirely different story ----their ancestors were brought here against their will, they've lived in this country for generations and suffered because of laws that prevented them from achieving. It's an excuse they should get over for their own sakes ---but they did have some legitimate gripes about some things. When immigrants land up on welfare it's a whole different matter.

Go through the proper channels: Learn the language, support yourself, demonstrate an ability to contribute rather than leach, don't have a criminal background, don't have communicable diseases, learn some of our history, pledge an oath, and then we can talk about citizenship. That is what the early immigrants went through (and many still do) and their ability to do so is what qualified them to be a contributor, rather than a tax on the rest of us. Are you arguing for something different than this?

Yes but the result is the same. Living off the govt. So it is not just Mexicans, is my point.

No, but I am arguing that Mexicans are quite capable of this. I would not deny them the opportunity to do the things you are proposing they do, which I completely agree with, BTW.

On the contrary, I am saying the opposite. America drew the hardest working people in the world. You are trying to bring this down by allowing anybody that can walk across a border to collect on our hard work to do so. Our ancestors came here not to slough off the of other's hard work. They came here to work. There is a difference. And frankly, I couldn't care less about race, so you can put that stupid Liberal card back in the deck, because I don't play that game - it's about three intellectual levels lower than Go Fish.

True ---and what the globalists are doing in Mexico, they will and are doing to the Americans. Most of the differences between the US and Mexico were in the cultural differences ---both lands are very rich with plentiful resources. Texas and New Mexico are good examples of what happens to states under the different cultures, Texas was poor and so bad the Mexican government couldn't get people to move there --but with US culture it became a great state.

So are you saying you would agree to no free medical care, classes taught in English only, no welfare to immigrants, the ability to pass a written test, take an oath, show financial self-responsibility or sponsors that are willing to be responsible for you?
