Live Thread: President Bush and Prime Minister Blair Press Conference, Noon EST, 4/6/02
self | Saturday, April 6, 2002 | Kristinn

Posted on 04/06/2002 7:49:04 AM PST by kristinn

Live from Crawford, Texas, it's the George and Tony show.

Will George slap Bill and Yasser around again like he did last night? Will Tony come off as George's toy poodle? Will the press be their usual boorish selves ? Is Helen Thomas there ?

The answer to these and other questions will be answered at Noon eastern time.

He doesn't need a poll or focus group to know right from wrong.

Nice backhand slap at Clinton -- I love this game.

My bet, somewhere on this planet a snotty, sociopathic ex-president was getting redder by the minute during that press briefing. Big time!

I think our president just shared some of the intelligence that has been gathered with Blair. Blair looked pretty "shook up". I've been saying all along that this is much more serious then most people believe. It is a terribly heavy burden those two men carry, and it's about to get worse.

Blair is a FAR better man then I originally thought, the Brits should be proud of him.

Not "immediately" -- "without delay." When he uses the word "immediately," IMHO, Israel will have finished what it needs to do, for now.

London and Brixton have mosques whose clerics foment fanatical Islam. As you know, the show-bomber came from there.

Britain could take some terrorist strikes itself when we go after Saddam.

The fear of dirty nukes and other WMDs being used in the U.S. and Europe is very real. I'm nervous about it, too !

I noticed Blair had that look of discomfort. I think you are right in the sense alot more is going on than is what being said.

We probably don't know a "n-th" of the intel these leaders know. We live in much more dangerous times than we realize.

These 2 leaders carry a much heavier burden than we can even imagine. May they continue to make wise and prudent decisions.

Politics aside, the British People and the British Government have ALWAYS been staunch allies of the United States.

As vehemently as I disagree with Tony Blair's politics, he *is* standing tall with the United States of America and as a result he's earned my respect.

Thank you Tony Blair for being such a strong ally, and thank you British People for standing by the United States.

God Bless America and God Bless the British People.

Clintoon doesn't have the sense to feel shame. He's just worried about where he's going to get his next speaking fee and his next BJ.

I've come to think that the Pres is merely giving lip service to the idea of Israel pulling out.

Powell isn't going over there for a few more days...That's the key thing to remember...Meanwhile the Israeli actions can continue.

Clearing out the Taliban and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan was easily approved by the world community. Convincing the quislings in Europe and the Middle East to take out Saddam is much more difficult. It will happen, though, regardless of their support.

Any ideas on who should feel our blade after that, Kristinn?

Your #18. I did not hear President Bush say that Clinton failed. I heard him say that there was a rumor floating around.

I heard President Bush say that Clinton had tried and that he himself would try.

I don't believe there will be an immediate withdrawal of Israel.

Can someone start a poll on the immediate withdrawal of Israel.

I believe there is just so much President Bush can do with these two old cronies.

I seem to have heard Bush say that "I expect Israel to heed my call." He then hedgred when asked what if they didn't. Seems like you only hear what you want to hear. Bush said again: "my words to Israel are to withdraw". What will emerge here on this thread is that we will soon find out who are really behind Bush and who are the "israel Firsters".

We love him too. He speaks in unambiguous terms with moral clarity.

And wasn't his wife beautifully dressed the day he signed the unconstitutional attack on the First Amendment?

Blair looked pretty "shook up"

That was exactly my first impression. He got stronger as the minutes went on.

Oh jrlc, I didn't mean that that slug was getting 'redder' because he was feeling shame.....HECK NO....clinton appears to me to be a text book sociopath. Those folks walk around (trample around, that is) with zero conscience. What I meant to infer was that that ol hound dog was getting angrier and angrier, no doubt, as Bush's left handed compliments targeted him directly.
