With many states facing budget "shortfalls" as the left likes to call them liberal politicians are calling for increases in sales taxes, income taxes, and taxing specific items such as cigarettes, soda, fatty food, bullets, etc...
Well, taking a tip from WPTF talk show host Jerry Agar (Raleigh NC) from a show he did last year I have decided to put the challenge to my fellow FReepers.
What are popular and high use items among liberals that taxes could be placed on to help eliminate these budget "shortfalls"? Liberals are all for raising taxes so surely they would like to see our ideas put into practice. So what "liberal" consumer goods could be taxed a little extra to help states with their budgets?

I said that. But the liberals dont go for it and push their demands for more and more taxes. So, lets give them exactly what they want, but have them pay the taxes.

Oh, and strip joints.

Don't forget all manner of sex toys and bondage equipment/supplies. If you tax bondage supplies people will just subsitute neck ties and silk scarves for other restraints.

Ya, conservative, suit and tie businessmen never go to strip bars.

Well, I've always personally said that a consumption tax is a moral tax, so I'll go along with the taxing of liberal-orientated items :-)

How bout condoms. The way the liberals like to give them to kids, they could make a fortune.

Here's my contribution to the suggestion list: A Barbra Streisland tax: All CD's, Tapes, Records by or using music by BS. Additionally, any posters bearing her image would be heavily taxed. [An alternative to this tax would be a tax on any music by untalented, nasally singers from Brooklyn, NY].
A Ben and Jerry Tax -- If people want to support those left-wing wacko's, make 'em pay for the privilege.
A Tax on White Wine and Brie.
A Tax on All Movies with Alec Baldwin.
just for starters........

Two words... Bong taxMost of the pot smokers I know are conservative Republicans. Stop watching so much TV.

You see, the problem there is that the schools will be "giving" them to the kids and they will not be purchased at retail outlets so no tax will be paid.
I understand your reasoning, but it is faulty. Liberals and conservatives are probably pretty damn close to equal users of condoms.

Tax crime victims where it coule be reasonable shown to have been preventable- had they been armed or carrying concealed.

Starbucks products Thems fightin' words! Starbucks happens to be a major hangout of my local Young Republican Group. The EMPLOYEES may be "pink right down to there underwear" (And that's just the guys), but many of us conservatives are happy that Strabucks FINALLY brought good quality coffee to the masses.

15% political campaign tax due on election day, as any more than 15% is considered graft.
To: Clemenza
Okay, we'll take 'em off the list. If we keep the tax on nose rings and tatoos, we'll catch all the ones who work for that company out here anyway!
To: dubyaismypresident
Seriously sensitive some around here, eh? Probably too much dope. Do you know any conservative Republican potheads? I don't know a one.
